Nope. I think this was one of the rare FFs which went over 99. Max cap is 120, and it gets a lot harder to get to it after 100.

i still find ion's argument about that content as total bullshit. GW2 has an entire pvp map created by a single dudde because he thought wvw needed more maps. GW2's team is incredibly small in comparison to wow's. I fully understand when Ion uses this bit when asked about adding housing, but not when it comes to adding a small change to a single map ihas to be more easily done. I remember the "behind the scennes" stuff they did for cata's launch about the zone redeesigns and the tools wow had back then... Ion is just covering for the fact that Bobby kept cutting his budget even if WoW ie the cash cow of Blizzard.

9:50 I believe it's a "Final Fantasy for Fans and First Timers" - FFXV is definitely not my first recommendation, it's either FFIV to be familiar with the party roles or FFX for game mechanics.
16:04 Still bummed that they changed Noctis' final line during the campfire scene in the English Version.
"Thank you everyone, I love you guys" > "You guys...are the best"
21:43 But Mike, we missed out on Dark Lunafreya and Bahamut's face looking like Ardyn's brother and Noctis 😔

Had everything people love about FF except a finished storyline and turn based combat. Pre-Altissa is amazing despite the flaws and is the only reason I'll end up replaying in the future. Love camping with the boys.
On another note, not sure if Bex or Chris has told you, Mike, about World of Final Fantasy but I really hope you play it when you are done with your FF journey. Other than some kiddie dialogue and too-easy difficulty, that game is a true love story to the franchise that is really fun to play.

For anyone who happens to replay this, and gets to Costlemark, the dungeon Preach got stuck in... Three of the four paths have alternate routes which lead to the end of the dungeon. Only one of the four paths, the first one you open, is actually one-track. The rest have a path to the end.

Ion's comments about the sword are still so shallow and misses the whole reason people had a problem with it. It's not that people want everything, it's that you deliberately ignored a major plot hole for years and joked about it whenever people brought it up. It would have been one thing to say "We have a plan, please be patient." But all people ever got was "What sword?"

I actually think that rebirth has a scope limit that XV does not, they defined a formula that they spread around all the world map and they definitely never went out of scope on the formula (towers, intel search, fights, side quests, mini games and protorelic quests -> with variations on each region), each region has a different vehicle or chocobo skill to traverse it (this way there is variety when exploring each zone), some regions are more vertical and others more simple to navigate.
With this formula in place they spread it around the whole game and we get a 100+ hour game with decently designed exploration and combat encounters, while also having the story moments in linearly designed areas (dungeons or towns).
XV on the other hand, almost tried to see what sticks to a wall and while it succeeded on some areas it also failed massively on others.

  • @killa6589
    @killa6589 7 месяцев назад +3

What I love about FFXV are the themes, powers and music.
I think that Ardyn is literally an allegory to the story of Jesus Christ. That sounds schizo. But he, like Jesus, was chosen to die for the salvation of mankind, he would literally take man's darkness (sins) inside him, but unlike Jesus, he wasn't down with it, he also got slowly corrupted by this darkness, it humanizes the character. He was against being used as the sacrificial lamb for the sins of the people and undergo all of this unfairness, he chose to rebel against this destiny.
It's the story of the ultimate sacrifice, by the most virtuous human, who was to have everything taken away from him, betrayed and murdered by those who he sought to protect, all in order to save them from the blight. So, he decides to find another way, he decides to defy God and for this, he is made to suffer even more. Truly a tragic story. And this is why it makes me angry that the game was never actually finished, because Ardyn never got his redemption, we never got to see the true end, the right end to his tale, the end to the line of Lucis.
In a way, it's kinda fitting... everything was taken away from him, they even took away his happy ending lmfao.

You should look into the game's development history. The project was managed by Testsuya Nomura when it was still "Versus XIII" and the guy could not settle on what the game should be. One time he proposed to the CEO of SE that the game should be a musical after watching "La La Land" in which the CEO had had enough and transferred the project to Hajime Tabata. The retail version of the game that we have, in actuality, only had about 2 years of development in which Tabata had to scrape together what he could from Nomura's concepts and ideas and practically created an entire new game. This signified a greater issue at SE in which project producers have way too much control over their projects, and this is why people like Yoshida is so highly regarded within the company because the dude actually delivers projects on time and within budget.

Look the guys not a good management director absolutely but the project had people moved every which way to help with other poorly managed projects like main FF13.

SE's behind the scenes/workflow/dev cycle stuff was just the worst for years and you can really see it in their games from FFXII through to KH3. 7 Remake & 16 were their first titles in a long time where everything went relatively well/normal behind the scenes and it shows big time.
They've since basically restructered the whole company in to the various "Creative Business Unit's" now so hopefully we never return to those days.

If you think its more fun or more important to do something else then do it. Don't try to ruin stuff for other ppl because you dont want to spend that much time on it. In the end its a choice. FF15 is a game that i've always loved in spite of its flaws. Thanks for giving it a fair shake, Mike.
When it first came out, i was in awe of the scope of the set piece moments and thought that was the coolest thing i'd ever seen in a videogame outside of something like Dragon's Dogma.
I followed it from its original reveal as Versus 13 all the way through development hell and into what it became. I played it at release and absolutely didn't hate it. I loved the journey of the boys, true friends who really cared about each other. The story problems weren't a big deal to me and, honestly, still aren't a big deal to me. I never watched the anime. I never read the novel, and I REALLY don't think that detracted from my experience. It always kills me when people say that you have to have all this extra context to understand things when in my experience, that's just... not true?
I don't know. 15 means a lot to me for a lot of reasons. There's so much passion evident in some of the little moments in the game and even though the whole vision never came to light for various reasons, i'm glad we still got SOMETHING, all things considered. I hope one day we can get a do-over for the game/setting/story/world because there was so much potential there if the gameplay was ironed out and the vision was solid from the beginning. People can shit on it all they want, but i'll defend parts of it till the bitter end.
Also, Ardyn is still one of my favorite antagonists in the FF games i've played. I cannot be convinced otherwise.
