The endings according to the game:
Arthur gains freedom
Sally manages to escape with her baby
Ollie pees on the town
Noah Blair well the town deserved it
He also wonders whats left of Scotland.
When I read your comment, I chuckled but there was also a pile of loose glitter in front of me and the exhale of air caused it to fly everywhere. Thanks for the laugh
What a madlad
LoOk UP I'LL piss On YEr coRPses
Fun fact, in one of the original Uncle Jack telethons. Uncle Jack brings up that he, at one point, was in possession of a dog. He becomes depressed for a moment, only to fake taking a joy and pretend to return to his happy phase. It implies that he had been a downer long before his breakdown at the end of the game.. Creepy stuff.
Nice game
Fun fact. Actually there's a scene from the game files when Uncle Jack breaks character and tell people that they are at the end of their times and to stop taking their joy
@Jack W i didn't watched that when i posted that comm.. ..when data mining the game i saw the recording . :p
Woah! I never noticed that ever!!!😯😯😲😲
Which one of the episodes was that? I want to rewatch that bit...
I wish that police officer that helped Arthur was a playable character. I really, _really_ want to know his full story.
First time I've ever WANTED a DLC.
@@mbunnyj7051 RIGHT??
Me too
I want a DLC about one of the bobbies!
I want a DLC of the officer, Uncle jack and percy
I finally understood the scene when they killed the rat, thinking it’s a piñata and started eating it because there’s no food or enough to go around, basically everyone’s starving and the wastrels are having the worst of it.
Edit: the joy makes them see & think things differently in a optimistic hyperbole manner, that’s why they believe it’s candy but to Arthur whose off his joy sees it as a dead rat.
Oropher420 thanks man i didnt understand
Lol no. People disguise the rats like piñatas so they could just eat
Red Panda
They’re on Joy
I think they though the rat is a candy
Eren jaeger
Exactly, they’re on joy
I actually feel bad for uncle jack, he’s a man torn apart from the memory of his daughter that he tried to protect. Him breaking character is a very sad scene and shows how even him is breaking apart from Joy
Venomous Entertainment Well the thing is he never took joy, I mean he fakes taking a joy pill and every episode of his I hear you videos you can see him frown at the end of each video
The thing is that he's suffering from memory loss, a side effect from taking joy.
If he never took joy, then he always remembers.
Well from the Wikipedia page jack collaborated with the nazis and Ollie turned his daughter in to get back but instantly regretted it
fun fact: the very first person you take down or attack as Arthur is Uncle Jack.
joshua kim No it’s not, he has a name and it’s not Jack Worthing
Sally’s ending literally was the happiest but man Ollie is a legend
Arthur’s probably had the best story though. I wish it could’ve been a bit longer
@@charliecapite nah, i think the reveal was shocking, but I preferred Sally and Ollie's more. Just me personally.
Ollie pissed on them
Ollies ending was the best but playing him, not so much

moral of the story
its alright to say your day was complete shit
Ross Carter
Lol that’s probably true
Yes, and pissing on a town while swearing to people is not childish. Wait, wrong moral... let me see... it's okay to be very polygamous and, if that doesn't work out for you and your baby, take your baby on a boat trip... no NO, that's not it! Oh yes, and it's okay to feel sad sometimes. Just as important as feeling happy. Also... don't do drugs, kids.
Ross Carter lol
but drugs are really cool, well not the hard shit like crack or cocaine, well they're cool if it happens to someone else and survives, not the point, uh the moral is... anything excessive even positive is not healthy for you
So pretty much every day because there's always that one thing
is it just me, or does Margaret develop a Scottish accent when Ollie comes to terms that she's just in his head?
She does
Omg I’ve only just noticed that!
I think that's just his mind accepting that she's just an imaginary friend
Margaret: “I think it’s time you put away childish things.”
Ollie: “You’re right. You’re always right.”
…and then he taunts and pees on the populace, and sports a potty mouth.
Garrett Stanfield like a badass
Bear Grilling Well, you’re not wrong. But IMHO, neither am I.
It’s not childish; he just doesn’t give two shits
Hector Beck Yes, he did. Or at least a pee.

God I luv the ending of Arthur saying "You're right. It has been rather a shit day."
Sally's ending was pretty cheery Arthur's ending was so sad and ollie got the truth out
Abelutzu i wonder anyone got peed on..
Rolando ova No Ollie Turned her into the police so she went off the Germany for some reason
markell tyrus thanks
Arthur was happy, he found a real genuine person for the first time in forever.
I also think he is sane because the kid doesn't talk like a person on joy or whatnot.
Jack said that someone leaked her whereabouts, then she hid and ran.
Jack's fate is doomed after he created the last video, most likely killed off by the government or the ones in power.
To be honest, the first ending for Arthur's Epilogue is actually less-depressing. But, there's a hope for him, the search for truest truth and happiness. Thus because he got a revelation not only the Patrol Man but also that kid. It's the only reason for Arthur about why he realized the joy may come from the 'shittiest days'. And also, why the rain is strengthened the statement because the only good joy is feeling how many bad days before you got the rainbow in his life.
I think When Arthur decided to decline the joy pill I feel that’s his happy ending cuz I think this was the first time he was ever happy
But he isn’t happy in that ending. It’s fake. I believe he was truly happy because he got to meet a genuine person, who told him that his day was shit.
You both said the same thing. When Arthur declined the pill, he then went on to meet the boy.

True.
'Uncle Jack' really was just a hapless man after all. Even though he was a collaborator, he was, at heart, a kind man.
Allen Lim so ollie was the one that send Margaret to death but he felt guilty for it. but why does he carry A picture of her? also sally on A boat and ollie under A balloon wouldn't the military in other countries shoot them down? or that wont happen because the whole world was still at war? also after watching this have you thought about how those people that keep taking joy pills, that dropped their masks in the end. is you?
Allen Lim so this is what happend war world two lose to germery
Jeff Jeff war world 2? World war 2?
Jeff Jeff no the Americans seemed to have won but it took a longer time. In other words after Britain fell it seemed to be a few years later after liberation but it seems the iron curtain held steadfast.
tommy blade he was their neighbour. After her death, he must have stolen items from Jack Worthing (Margaret's father) pertaining to Margaret and used his prior knowledge of Margaret to produce to hallucination. And no, the war was over. The Brits were freed, and the Germans gone. Just Wellington Wells doesn't know it.
That final shot is so damn depressing, no matter how much fun Arthur's having.

This story is more in depth than I actually thought....
Can we all agree on how truly amazing this story and world is in the game, like most games have a twist and then the character hits a low then moves on but in this game the characters actually have so many layers of emotion that set them apart from most antagonists
What I like about the endings for Arthur and Sally is, when either of them take the masks off, that's when the camera stops being constantly wedged in the first person, same with Ollie once Margaret disappears for good. That must be symbolism for something.
Arthur:Getting upset about letting Percy go.
Sally:Happy that she got her daughter safe
Ollie:Finally growing up to stop hallucinating Margaret
I would guess it having to do with freeing yourself and seeing things from a new perspective both figuratively and literally. You've been trapped not only in the city but also in first person the entire game, so in the end, switching perspectives and watching the characters walk away from even your control is the ultimate freedom.
Its then finally seeing themselves for who they are
Famous last words: "wonder what's left of Scotland?"
Those were his last words?
I feel like Ollie's Story is a bit more impactful out of the others. But they all have their share of emotions.

Okay, Arthur's was depressing, Sally's was actually cheerful, and Ollie's... 36:14
they didn’t take the children to kill them. Germany defeated the allies at great cost but were still at war with the Soviet Union. In order to fight the desperate situation in the east they drained the UK (and assuredly other occupied European allied nations) of all their resources AND conscripted all the young kids to fight as child soldiers against the Soviet war machine.
Whether Germany won or managed a stalemate is unknown, but Wellington Wells isn’t under Soviet control so we know they didn’t outright lose
honestly i feel it is more likely that both sides lost. Germany could not sustain itself and its very possible that it fell apart, likely hitler either fled for his life or was assassinated, or he could have committed sucide like he did in the real world.
Russia was already pretty unstable before the war, the war made it all the worse even if some made money from the ar machine, and a prolonged war could ahve caused a colapse there. it would leaving all of europe in a state of chaos no one had the power to deal with.
basically in order for a foreign power to come in and take over they would have to expend considerable resources to stabilizng the region, feed the starving population, who most of which are high off their fackin asses and mentally usntable, and rebuild everything.
Actually, I kinda think they did kill the children or some of them. Yes, the Germans would probably be so desperate in this situation but at the same time, their whole goal was to make Germans the only race in the world, or the only strongest one.
This just sounds like a HOI4 game gone wrong
Tad Dad someone said its not hitler as the german leader though
This is really well-written. Loved Ollie's finale rant too.
Vegetarian Soylent-Green hey! Your first!
Vegetarian Soylent-Green hi
*I WONDER WHAT'S LEFT OF SCOTLAND*
That last part of Arthur’s canon ending (the one where he don’t take joy)
Does that imply that it was mostly Wellington wells that was like a... closed community?
I mean the boy had a ball and must come from somewhere, has the world around Wellington wells survived and rebuilt or something?
(Also, it might just have been me but I would have loved if Sally and Arthur met back up in the end :) )
Britain recovered after Germany left
Wellington Wells is a closed island community isolated away from the mainland Britain. Small clusters of islands are collectively called Wellington.
So basically they open up and can rebuild like the rest of Britain probably has done in the last 20 years.
In all honesty, it reminds me of a book I am currently reading in class called The Giver. If you were to read it has some things in common.
P.s. My apologies if this was a little random!😅
@@denzelwashington543 It's indeed a bit like the giver. Except the Giver is way more serious (and well made imo)
So everybody gets a happy ending except Arthur? wow...
Stripe the 3 main character have happy ending the people in Wellington wells have a bad ending they all died of starvation
What I'm trying to say is that Arthur has the most depressing ending out of the main 3, Sally gets away on a boat with her baby, Ollie escapes using a blimp, and Arthur can either forget everything and starve to death while being a mindless nut on joy or he can go crazy in the mainland and possibly starve to death either way.
Stripe,
From my understanding, Arthur doesn’t go crazy on the mainland, but rather has a hard time adjusting at first. By the looks of it he has been traveling a good distance without seeing anybody until he meets a kid. Nothing really shows that this is a hallucination. This is Arthur legitimately being happy for the first time in a long time.
Hmm, I never really saw it that way but it makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up for me and I guess Arthur got what he was looking for in the end: True Happiness.
reality brings pain. but if you have the power to acknowledge the pain for what it is, you can find the joy that was always present beyond it.
Life goes on. That is the mercy . I've never forgotten that line. Spite how these endings might seemed more depressing to some people, it does give you a chance to let you see true ecceptence from the characters

So basically all three of them were pric_ks one got his brother captured and left with his passport, the other one got captured his neighbors daughter and the last one got with the dude's dad and got pregnant with another pric_k and she was expecting Arthur to take her with . . . Nice game btw pretty cool gameplay and all cheers for good times
Mckostas Gk I wouldn't call Arthur a prick since I guess, there were some.. predicaments. I don't know
All of them have past actions that they tried to forget. The game tells the stories of then finally coming to terms with those actions and finding a way to make up for it.
One character spreads the truth that the government hid from its people.
One took the only innocent away from a land that was filled with insane people.
The last one was forced to choose between false happiness, or the strength to move onward.
Well, Arthur wasn't even 13, but yeah, it was rather devious of him given how innocent he sounded when he convinced Percy to come with him to Germany.
I do wonder, though, why the scene of Arthur giving the cod liver oil to Sally differs in their respective playthroughs. In Arthur's, he visits Sally in her house and Sally never tells him about the baby, but in Sally's, she goes to him in the Gardens and tells him, but he leaves anyway.
Well, Arthur was a little boy when he left with his brother's passport, so his fear is justified

*”I wonder what’s left of Scotland” 😂😂😂*
Me: must be a load of piss everywhere
"You're right. You're always right"
Fucking devastating.
Moral of the whole story is that its alright to wonder what’s left of Scotland.
It seems these bad batches of joy, which are explained early in game that people who take bad batches of joy no longer can take the any form of joy, are either:
1. On purpose so that they would make more wastrels which means they’d have less people to feed or
2. Are using botched and different chemicals. Possibly fillers to make up for the lack of ingredients for joy. I’m going with the second one as what’s happening since the people who are running Wellington wells don’t give two shits on what’s happening in the world.
That's actually a good idea. It make sense, I think the second one seems about right.
Lorn is a sleepy fucker the only plot hole though is that if Wellington wells were running out of food, and the recording station is broken. Plus the fact that this would’ve been at least 10 years ago (Id say it would be 5 years prior if we are being generous. At least 15 years later unless there is an official source I’d say he’s 27) so they’ve should’ve starved out a long time ago. When Arthur would’ve been around 22 meaning by then they’d be dead or living like wastrels by the time he got off joy. It could be fixed by either way.
They invented a new way to create food
Or
They received supply drops or use the poppers to take/receive goods and supplies.
I’m going with supply drops since the world obviously knows it exists. With the old constable patrolling around; of course they wouldn’t intervene because it would probably start a war and an inner conflict leading to more dying. So they kinda left it alone :/ like how they do with N Korea and other isolationist nations such as Cuba and Venezuela.
Dr. Verloc (the guy who is basically running the joy operation) states that he suspects the "downer outbreak" to be a "mass chemical imbalance". And then there's the fact that he's trying to find a permanent solution to this problem with no success.
+Tae Her
It's implied as early as Arthur's tutorial prologue that most of the food in Wellington Wells is actually rotted scraps or carrion. Everyone has been starving to death for quite some time, but the joy makes them think that the roadkill and rats that they're scavenging and eating is good food. Real food seems to be reserved for only the top of the top, considering that the both the Byngs have enough food to stockpile while no one else does.
joshua kim that’s strange though since people like Sally and Arthur seem to be buying food at the store but apparently it’s real food. I mean I’ve seen play throughs with wastrels having pie and other goodies laying around. Other townies seem to have piles of sugar and chemicals like bleach. So I assume the latter that most of the food is being scavenged but that doesn’t explain why eating rotten meat and would make you sick but ham wouldn’t even though they both then technically would be dead animal parts.

Ok, the story of this game is deeper and WAY better then i thought it would be.
36:13 This is literally the best ending.
Wow I was never at all interested in this game, but I can tell after watching this that it’s not that badly put together, great story elements and theme, making this game a pretty nice experience. May be lacking in gameplay but there’s plenty of that elsewhere, right?
i know i'm three years late but i want to talk about what i believed no one noticed, the phrases constable peters/the constable arthur talks to uses on each of the characters when he talks about how the truth is not for everyone
"some people find they are stronger than they ever supposed"
some people can let go the confabulations that have comforted them"
"some make choices that surprise even themselves"
all of theses words can represent people learning to move on from either things such as depression and the like, some people can find they are stronger then they ever found themselves to be, some can let go of the things that helped them for so much, some make choices that surprise even themselves. all of theses can be a metaphor of person moving on or learning how from a issue like i said depression and the like, this sentences pack quite the meaning that i'm surprised alot of people didn't seem to comment about it,
"The foods run out"
Opens inventory and eats a bunch of food
37:43 My Favorite Part.
I think in a dystopian world, where you need to be happy, and have to pretend like everything is amazing, and then being able to actually agree with someone or admit, that it was a shitty day without getting killed, would feel absolutely amazing.

I don't understand... Why wouldn't some of the parents just leave Wellington Wells in order to search for their children in Germany? Or do they actually do this? Are those ones "on vaccation" searching for their children?
Dhroi it appears that the post-war British Military Administration blocked off and neglected the city, considering that it was now run by a bunch of nuts. They even released Uncle Jack, who Ollie in his story says is a war criminal, ostensibly illegally (hint: collaborators without actual purpose other than propaganda usually don't get released). You see the constable who's obviously no longer a real one. Wellington Wells is simply a dystopian reflection of Britain's worst attitudes throughout history combined - isolated, blind, too stupid to see the truth. The parents are dead or brainwashed. There's no nice way to put it.
Dhroi usually people on "vacation" be dead, didnt in early access if arthur died the game over screen was a paper that said he was on "vacation"
Yes, but that one employer who worked in Arthur's office was also on vaccation, and we get to know that this emloyer simply run away!
Dhroi: if you're talking about Prudence, you find her body in the tunnels escaping. Safe to say "vacation" = death
basically what @Allen Lim said from a story point of view
the overall story and game is a metaphor but from a story point of view, thats probably the best explanation from what i've seen and read of the game (haven't played it yet)
So it looks like Jack is dead. And the food is running out how this people are going to live ?
They aren't
their will be mass starvation, but those who are off joy now can flee for their lives and possibly find food elsewhere, they have a chance to survive and rebuild. all of those on joy will starve to death in ignorant bliss, and the few who don't escape and just loe their midns iwll tear each other apart.
I believe they will rise up and leave or scavage the mainland for food
Erdon TheGamer they take joy and eat rats
Erdon TheGamer it's just that town that is going through the whole "joy" pill the rest of England is apparently "liberated"
Wait why does Ollie try to tell the Executive Committee they're out of food before he hears the tape? Did we learn from another quest Wellington Wells was out of food? I forgot
Sally is really smart when it comes to using stuffs around her when in an emergency
I love how when you opened Ollies Inventory, he’s still wearing the maid dress
Sally's ending honestly made me cry, that is such a hard hitter.

Seeing Uncle Jack just slowly break...maybe, he's not a monster...just misguided in the idea of happiness...and now wanting people to just see the reality of the situation, to pry people away from their blissful ignorance and see the world in it's true colors...How hauntingly realistic in our modern world.
The saddest thing about this is Ollie's suicidal tulpa of his daughter. A regular mind being is a fine, formidable friend but you should *NEVER* create a tulpa completely based off of a person
