Why some Social Security beneficiaries will get 2 checks in May

- Some Social Security recipients will receive two payments in May due to an anomaly in the Social Security Administration's payment schedule.
The unusual payment schedule this month applies to folks who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI), which assists Americans 65 and older, as well as qualified adults and children with certain disabilities.
The first payments were distributed on May 1 with another check expected on the last day of the month, according to Money.com. No checks will be sent in June, but beneficiaries shouldn't be concerned. They're still getting their full benefits as usual, they'll just receive their June payment a little early.
So what caused the payments to come early? Typically, SSI beneficiaries receive their payments on the first of each month. But June 1 is a Saturday, so payments will go out on the previous business day instead, resulting in two payments in a single month. The same thing happens if the first is a federal holiday. #Money #News #SocialSecurity
