There's one thing I don't understand: How does the Russian army manage to maintain a numerical advantage at the front when there is no mobilization in Russia, and Ukrainians claim that Russia has 7 times more losses than Ukraine itself, and at the same time, Ukraine has laws on mobilization and checkpoints in cities to mobilize people.

Surovikin really set the stage of Russia to succeed: successful retreat from Kherson making the Dnieper a defensive barrier, fortifying the weakest part of land corridor and retreating across the oskol to force the Ukrainians to supply across it for the frontlines.

It's strange to me that no one asks the question. Why did they begin to take Avdeevka, the closest city to Donetsk, only 2 years after the start of the military operation? The fact is that this city was turned into a fortress and the Russian Army did not want to suffer heavy losses during the liberation of this city. But for the last six months, the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the territory of Avdeevka began to fire at civilian targets in Donetsk and many civilians were killed, which, before the elections in Russia, greatly spoils the reputation of the Army. Therefore, it was decided to liberate Avdeevka from terrorists.

This situation also reminds me of Falais Pocket, August 1944. Allies troops which is more numerous, superior firepower, tactical advantage and about to close the pocket. German had to sent elite SS and Wehrmacht units to counter attack to allow a lot of their units that still trap inside the pocket to get out. Because of a lot of air raid and rate of Allies forces advances per hour. German mechanized units had no other choice but to drive a lot of their vehicle on road in broard day light and in almost tightly packed column as well. In the end eventhough thet manage to save a lot of lives than they were expected. They had to abandoned a lot of their own units and heavy equipments behind due to constant air raid and lack of unit for evacuation.
Ukraine knew they had to get out but because of Zelensky and Syrsky. Political disasterous is not an option. That's why they sent one of the most elite unit out to die for buy time and delay the inevitable.
It's too late as well now to retreat even this is what they were planning to do.

10:53 Avdiivka has been strengthening for far more than two years. Ukraine has started the construction of fortified areas in it since 2014. It was from Avdiivka that the city of Donetsk has been shelled for the last ~ 10 years. Misunderstanding of this fact proves once again that people do not understand at all what happened in this area before, and why this war began.

He said they did not build any back up fortifications in case the first lines fell. You can fortify them front all you want but if you don’t fortify the rear and you need to retreat, you’re f*cked.

@@dosidicusgigas1376 You can, because only a complete moron would believe 400 000 dead, as:
      1. Russia started originaly with 120 000, which grew to 160 000 incorporating Donbas militias, which grew with comming of Wagner, but dropped significantly when in spring half of professionals didn't wanna renew their contracts so they had again similar numbers - losses.
      2. Mobilisation then happened where they took in another 300 000 troops, to train 1st which took a good part of 2023. during which time the original force had to hold on.
      3. In war killed to wounded ratio is between 1:3 to 1:5, so lets say it was just 1:3 in Ukraine, to have 400 000 killed men, Russia had 1,2 MILION wounded men, for a total irrecoverable or partialy recoverable (again estimates are 2/3 of wounded don't go back into fighting) losses of 1,6 MILION MEN!!
      4. Lets say we believe all that, this does not mean Russia covertly mobilised another 1,5 MILION men to strengthen less than 200 000 original force, because that would mean noone is left right???
So that means that if Elensky says Russians outnumber them in many places, and they likely have 300 000 men on the frontline which is over 1000km (!!) long, to man such a front and have a numerical advantage complete Russian force so far had to be closer to 3 MILION MEN!!! Noone noticed a mobilisation of 3 milion men?
      5. Werstern reports based probably on bullshit claim that Russia has over 90% of its army tied up in Ukraine, lets say that's true, it's well known that on a bad day Russian yearly troop # is around 700 000, to about 730-750 000 in better years, of which 80% are conscripts.
So if 95% of 700 000+300 000 regulars and mobilised troops went in, how could they loose 1,6 milion and still have at least 2:1 numerical advantage on the frontline as Elensky claims, out of maaaaximum of 1 milion men?
