I saw Kendrick live for the first time this week on The Big Steppers tour and he's been my favourite rapper since 2012. This is one of my favourite Kendrick tracks and when he performed this track live, it was a moment I will never forget. In the live version, there's an added 'be alone' backing vocal at 1:55, that shit was fucking beautiful. One of the rare moments in life where there isn't a single place on Earth I'd rather be! Thank you Kendrick! The show was the pinnacle of Hip Hop performance art, I'm sure that I will never go to a show that will top this one. LOVE.

some times i think the internet takes way from the making of a classic record. This, control and a handful of other songs these days deserve the recognition that songs like ether, takeover, shook ones etc. have even today. The way the internet dilutes the impact of a song kinda prevents them from going down in history as iconic songs of an era.
This is true, its just that there is sooooo much more music to listen to now a days. And the speed at which music is delivered. And the overall mentality of the hip hop community. Everyone is stuck in the past and the nostalgic memories of past records/artist that they deny the greatness that is right here in front of their eyes. They are foolish to refuse to be treated to some of the best artist of our time. Its their loss
Kendrick himself said that noone should call his work a classic, he stated that in 10+ years if you can go back and still listen to it and still find it amazing then it is a classic. That, in essence, is the definition of 'classic', something that echoes through the ages. Way too early to call the work of Kendrick classic, however it is great.
