    Great advice, I always take that slight step closer to the plate and choke up on a 2 strike but the step toward the pitcher and observing the catcher position are good tips. I'll use those next time and see what comes of it. Thanks :)

    Not sure if you’ve done it already but doing a video assessing each count and how to approach it would be great. As well as discussing percentage of plate coverage in certain counts versus others. Food for thought.
    Enjoy watching your videos keep it up.

    Those are great tips. Would you also say maybe concentrate on keeping your hands inside the ball more?

    Disagree with moving up in the box with 2 strikes. You are more apt to chase bad pitches if you are up in the box. Esp sweeping breaking balls and high fastballs which are the pitcher's go-to waste pitches. What works for me is to make yourself shorter (bend knees or bend at the waist) so the high fastballs look high instead of borderline, and expect a breaking pitch outside because a pitcher does not want to come inside 0-2. 1-2 he might come up and in to set up a 2-2 breaking ball. But most pitchers will not come inside when they are ahead in the count.

      as an umpire when a batter gets shorter it doesn't change strike zone

    I strike out more on well located fastballs more than breaking balls for some reason

    Great Video! When I’m in 2 strikes I always get caught with the high heater. Is there an approach to hitting the high fastball?

    • @lukeshen1661
      @lukeshen1661 6 лет назад +2

      don’t swing if it’s above your hands and if it isn’t then make sure u get on top of it and keep your hands level through the zone. so like no slicing and no uppercutting

    Hey coach can you give me some tips on how to control my 4 seam because I get 2 seam action on my pitch and I just can’t control it I think it is my arm angle 3/4 but that is my comfort spot and I keep working on it but can’t control it. Thanks

    I'd disagree about moving closer to the pitcher with 2 strikes; you want as much time as possible to read the pitch and pick up the rotation on the ball to see if it's going to be a slider outside or just a FB outside and to take if it is way off the plate. Up too close and you might swing at what will be a ball if you let it travel a bit. Also, do hours of tee work with the tee set up low and 3 inches outside and behind the plate and practice staying back and then stepping across the plate and hitting oppo; this will build in improved ability to handle that 2 -strike pitch off the plate.

    What I do is as I’m going through my rhythm I swing the bat back and forth to the pitcher and catcher and glance as he’s moving to see where it is. Hopefully this helps guys.
