Mike and Angelo S10E3 (1998) - FULL EPISODE

Out of the Wardrobe. Angelo's been getting increasingly frustrated by the way aliens are always portrayed so negatively in films, so decides the best course of action is to come out publicly as an extra-terrestrial to the local newspaper. Mike and Katy fear for his safety - will the reporter be happy enough to tell the truth, or will he just make trouble for the inhabitants of Larkswood Lane? This episode was originally broadcast on Thursday, 22nd January, 1998.
The guest role of journalist Brad Schnauzer is played brilliantly by Christopher Ryan, who manages to muster up just the right amount of scumminess throughout, without completely giving away whether he's ultimately going to prove to be a goodie or a baddie. I've always been intrigued that Mr Ryan somehow went from playing the cool university student on The Young Ones to a sad, middle-aged down-and-out in Bottom within about six years.
As for the subject matter of the episode, although it's ostensibly about aliens, I think it's obvious that there's something a little more allegorical going on. It's possible that this was in relation to something specific and topical at the time, but I'm not going to play that guessing game, and will rather just say that it's handled very well and is maybe even more pertinent today. A deep message, but plenty of laughs accompanying throughout - the perfect way to do it!
