As native Korean, I honestly think 2:01 it should be "I hated you and I got hurt too" instead of "I hated you and hurt you".
The original form of "아파도 했어" is "아파하다" and it means I, the singer, got hurt.
So singer actually didn't hurt someone, singer was the one who got hurt.
If it means "I hurt you", it has to be "아프게 했어" instead of the original lyrics "아파도 했어".
I know how hard it can be to differentiate the active and passive expressions in Korean grammar.
I think it's just a tiny mistranslation.
So to sum up, the original form "아파하다 (feel hurt)"
Changed to past tense "아파했다 (got hurt, was hurt)"
Then the meaning of "too (도)" was added so "아파도 했다 (got hurt too)"
Then the sentence used informal/casual speaking so it ended with "어", which is "아파도 했어 (no change in meaning)"

Pang and Shadow are both bops that have different vibes with the same composers. Woozi, Bumzu, and DINO. So glad that Dino has been active in composing now. Even the members itself approved Shadow as a title track material

it's crazy how much this song makes me think of "Kidult", a song about holding on to your inner child. Even though you like your inner child and want it around, it's always hiding and slipping away when you don't notice so you have to pay attention and hold on to it. and 'Shadow' is basically the same but opposite. You don't want anyone to see your shadow, and kind of want it to go away but it's not going anywhere so you learn to embrace with kindness instead. Your inner child and your shadow are opposite sides of the same coin, in a way. Both parts of yourself you have to embrace to become a full person. Plus all the Peter Pan/Lost Boy theories we were making from "Darl+ing" makes it hit extra hard if you're familiar with Peter Pan and his love-hate relationship with his shadow. Just. It's really deep. My favorite on the album (tied with Don Quixote)

Especially with DK's both lines "Let's love even our hidden sadness" and "Because even the darkness will shine brightly" Those phrases mean that all the parts of us have to be loved equally. They are part of us, we can't hide them forever or hurt them. Because our shadows and our innerchild are part of us, they will shine brightly.

ikr :'( kidult has been my fave song of svt ever since it came out because idk somehow i could relate to the song so much and felt so deeply connected with it, i never thought i would be able to experience the same feeling with a song again but they did it one more time with shadow and i'm so much in love with this song.

Wow the lyrics. The song is about self acceptance and embracing every part of ourselves, including our "shadows". It reminds me of DKs line in 'Kidult' "let's embrace/love even our hidden sadness".

I think the song is about, that shadows are really part of our lives. We try to run from it but it's like a hunting dog. They will follow us especially in dark times but there is hope, a light. Woah never imagined that the lyrics would be this deep.

Dino is such an all rounder member 😭 he sings he raps he dances. Gosh! Gonna bias him already!
The members have been improving in all aspects with each comeback. But I just want to appreciate dino more. Like seriously, bro excel at everything. Dance, rap, vocal, songwriting, hell he join acting class too. His improvement in vocal is massive, he got many parts in all songs in this album. Not kinda filler parts, but actual parts & they need difficult vocal skill. He also got that confidence in his skills that could only come from years of honing them. The future of kpop indeed, 23 years old with 7 years experience indeed.
Yes yes yes he is just proving he can do everything on this album. There are songs where he has the same parts of the chorus that Seungkwan does! And he starts the ballad, it's gorgeous. His rap here? Please he's just so good.

I am new here. So it means the part you hated about yourself and running away from yourself . It's about embracing that part. Like a shadow which kepp running with us because it's part of us similarly that hidden part we need to hold it and let it be ourselves

idk if it’s that hhu has been singing more lately (and yeah i know they also sing), or if they’re just more confident with their singing, but their singing stood out to me so much in this album. i love their rap parts, and i would never take away from that, but i can’t stress enough how much i love their singing voices too. they sound so beautiful. i will cry

This song is very meaningful, especially after knowing dino also made the lyrics. He always said that he wants to be positive and he hates being negative, because if he does that, he'll lost in his own thoughts, and he hates himself for being that kind of person. Looking at the meaning, i hope he's like that too, embracing his negative thoughts and the many sides of him that he doesn't like, embracing and loving the "shadow" part of him ❤️

before knowing what the lyrics meant, this song feels so bittersweet for me. like the singer had so much guilt and regrets but they're trying to make up for it now by sacrificing something big. now i know what the songs means, it still feels bittersweet but now it sounds like the protagonist of an action film flipping the switch, gaining the courage to run, throwing themselves in front of the chaos, saving the day. it feels Brave

~ “Even my darkness will shine brightly” is my fav lyric from this song and I just love the message of the song. How the shadow is unwanted and perceived like a different character from you. Hurting, hating and running away from your shadow cuz of the denial that it’s apart of you. But also learning to accept your shadow cuz in the end it is apart of us and it’s ok to have them cuz even our flaws can have a positive.

If you look up decalcomania you’ll see the art created by pressing paint between paper and it creates this mirror like piece where together it creates a whole image but if you look closely the two sides have unique different even if it’s small.

I feel like the song is about trying to run away from the darkness of our lives and our weaknesses. They hid from the light because wherever there is light, there will be shadows too. They realize this and face their shadows, embracing them and learning to love them. By showing their good and bad sides, they're able to truly be themselves. I love this song so much. My favorite part is “even my darkness will shine brightly” it’s a contradicting yet beautiful phrase. In fact if we shine brightly then the shadow will become darker. Whether the shadow is affecting us or not it depends on whether we accept it or not. We shine brightly along with our shadow, our dark hidden side then it’s totally okay

To me the most impactfull lyrics are "I hated you and hurt you", by hurting your shadows (hidding and ignoring them) you do the same thing they do to you, so you became your own shadows which explains all the lyrics about becoming the same thing by décalcomanie. Your shadow will always be a part of you, even if you hide from the sun to hide it to other people, they are always present and hurting them is hurting yourself. Like in Kidult, you have to love even your hidden sadness, and in this case, even you hidden shadows.
So, shadow means our dark parts like not actually our shadows but the things we hate and want to hide from others, correct me if I'm wrong.

The comment said that the line would be better translated (or something like that, I forgot how they wrote it lol) as “I hated you and I got hurt too" meaning the person hated and hurt their shadow but they got hurt too since your shadow is apart of you

This song is my fav in this album, I always got goosebumps listening to this like literally. The antidrop in the chorus is chef's kiss, svt literally has some of best antidrops in kpop imo. The melody in the prechorus is just ear candy, and the rap verse is just so good, everything about this song is perfect!
