I remember back in the day, GE appliances were the ones to get. Everything they made prior to the late 90's seemed to be good quality. Can't say I've had great luck with anything GE in recent years.
Really appreciate this video and your guidance on fixing this issue. Saved me $200 on a new ac. I guess buying the extended warranty is required from now on given the crappy products manufacturers seem to put out now.
Power went out, broke circuit board apparently. Tried this and it worked. Just saved me from buying a new unit and getting a circuit board instead, thank you so much!
Just did it on a AHTE06AAQ3 6000 btu unit. I tried a new capacitor and it didn't work. Tried finding a board to order and no luck so hacking it was my final option. I run it on Hi 98% of the time anyway so all the bells and whistles won't be missed. Thanks for the tutorial!
I order the part according to the model and part number but my connection has the cables up side down. When is connected mine starts from top RED to bottom ORANGE and the part I order is the other way, plus doesnt have the locking mechanism.
You can usually find the part number on the old part. Other than that, you'll have to look at the picture of the part you're ordering to make sure it's exactly the same as the one that is in the unit.
awesome thanks appreciate ya new subscrider ..thanks but my GE window shaker just went crazy electronically but it has 2 boards one in front push buttons & another board connect too thats hard to get to whee capacitor lives ..how did you know it wasnt the back board & was the front board ? thanks or if anyone knows please advise & love the idea of an trimmer on off control till proper repair made
Do you think this would also work for my TCL unit? I have a Smart Wifi 14K btu and i assume with it also having a board and it shows the 88 with all lights on and blinking and beeping then thats whats wrong too. Its only a little over two months old. It has a 1 year warranry but i cant contact TCL until Monday and its only early AM Saturday. We also have power surges and recently had another one due to a tropical storm. I bought it to replace my GE unit that was only a year old and started the Error 8 if i recall right. It was saying it was overheating and stopped kicking the compressor on. I stored it thinking it just needed cleaning or it couldnt handle the heat wave for whatever reason bc it was also super humid eventho thats what theyre supposed to be for. Anyway, appreciate the hack tip video. Also do you or anyone know if the usual solution from companies like this is to repair or do they refund money as long as its under warranty or what ? Like i said mine is only a little over 2 months old.

I don't think any manufacturer are any good anymore, with this disposable society.

🤷🏾♂️ Not sure what the correct answer is.

Glad I could help
where did you get the board?
Thanks Robert! Worked like a charm for my almost new GE 5000 btu Model: AHP05LZ. Saved me time, money and aggravation!
Glad to help!

You are welcome. Be careful because it will likely ice up from running to long.
@@RobertDIY thanks for the heads up. I'll give it a break every now and then 😉👍
Cool comfort again, and you managed to escape the mayhem in Texas.
You got that right!
you better hope the new control board comes with a new wiring harness/connector.
It did
Hi. I have the AHS06LXW1 model unit. Do you think it is the same display panel part no? If not - how did you work out what part you needed? Thanks.
I removed mine and looked at the part number on the board.
Did exactly what u said and I got ac for the night till I replace the board 🤙 thanks
you are welcome.

I watched a few videos which lead me to believe it was the board I replaced.

If you start taking it apart they will likely VOID your warranty.

Thanks!

I have the same issue i did what you did but compressor won’t come on just the fan blows on high
I had to try a combination of wires to find the one that activated the compressor.
Thanks Bob, I think I will just plug it into a smart plug and let Alexa turn it on and off.
That will work. I ordered a control board from GE and it only cost me about $38.
@@RobertDIY not bad , I thought $65 - $80 would be the price.
What can I say but say hello to the RUclips algorithm? :>)
👍🏾
Part is only $31 from Ge
