The Doors used to hang out at Barney's Beanery! I was in LA a few weeks ago and could not find a pint above a 5.0 IMO, so I will check out Barney's next time. I am from Syracuse, NY and we have a couple decent pubs here. Best pint in town is actually at a Karaoke bar in a historically Irish neighborhood. $5, two-part pour, old-style 20oz glass, well-kept secret here.

Tipperary Hill has some great pints, particularly at Coleman's, who take great pride in keeping their lines clean and the pours properly done, even though the glasses are the newer gravity-style. That said, my favorite Guinness pint in the Syracuse area has to be from Singer's Karaoke Bar in Solvay, which is quite close to Tipp Hill. The atmosphere is far from traditional, but the craic is always great, the patrons are friendly, and the pint is the closest thing to the real deal I've had outside Dub. No joke! Last time I went it was only $5 with domeage and shtick for days. Unbelievable. Kitty Hoyne's in downtown Syr is also very good.
Lots of Guinness pints poured here in Chicago and the burbs... $6 to $7, but maybe not downtown. At Clancy's in Oak Lawn, IL $5 everyday and it's a 7.8!
Diageio/Guinness have new brewery in baltimore supplying all off US n Canada. They are said to import water from ireland to use in brewing and expect Guinness in states to taste the exact same as ireland by end of 2023 after they get all their new reps and crews on the road
Are you talking about Guiness Draught, because I've never had a pint in North America that tastes half as good as the worst pint I had in Ireland. There was a place in D.C. that was better than most but it still tasted more like the inside of an aluminum can. I just don't think Guiness Draught ships well enough to make it worth drinking in America. Once you've had a pint in Ireland, it's never the same here.

If you ever go back, you've got to get a pint of Guinness at the Tam O'Shanter in LA. They're celebrating their 100th year in 2022, which for the States is quite old.

Just ordered a Guinness at a pub a few blocks down and it came in a small glass, no shtick and it was downhill from there. I am a fan of Kilkenny but have only tried it from the can.
My dad was chief taster in the UK, worked at the Park Royal brewery before he retired (it’s not there now diageo knocked it down). They used to pay him to go out and see how pubs poured it etc. we grew up on the Guinness grounds. It was great xmas parties for kids, fun fairs in the summer for workers and families. The Guinness clubhouse with snooker, pool, football, cricket, squash courts. We went to San Fran Planet Hollywood restaurant (I think it was) the waiter brought him a Guinness with a head that was about a third of the pint, he complained and the guy brought another with no head on it at all. He got up and left 😂😂

There was a British journalist called Jeffrey Barnard who used to love going to Dublin.He realised something that was very important,how important quality barmen were.In Ireland being a barman used to be proper job.I think a Dublin barman from the old days would be shocked to see that pint of Guinness.
My father in law to be is a barman, and yeah you are bang on, he had to do a course to be a barman...any spotty teenager can be one now. Sad times. Pouring a proper pint is a skill and an artform.

Lad, I’m an Irish fella from Belfast who just moved out in 2020 in California. Up here in the Sacramento Valley it’s 41oC the past few days! You’d melt up here my friend! Sadly, the I don’t even waste my money on a pint of Guinness in CA. But the craft beer scene is the best in the world.

I live in the northeast and can confirm you will receive it served in an American version Guinness glass typically, especially if you go to a more proper Irish pub. Irish pubs are extremely popular in the northeast. I live in a (smaller) city and we have 3 Irish pubs with decent pints.

Its brewed in Baltimore now they opened a national Guinness brewery there about 18 months ago.

You might be thinking of Guinness's Extra Stout, which is at 5.6%. Regular ol' Guinness is 4.2
