First five star was Keqing, I was going for Kazuha. I also decided, against my better judgement, to go for Alhaitham on that same banner after getting my Kazuha. I lost to Tighnari and still decided to keep going. I use Tighnari more than Alhaitham 💀 I am so lucky that's when I just started out, I don't think I could've done that without all the easy areas still left to explore 😂

They should rework the early game AR requirements. In 1.0 it made sense because they didn't want you to rush through the content, now there is so much stuff to do, they should just let you play. I'd say new players probably get discouraged by the forced exploration.
I started Genshin over 8 days ago(lost access to old account). Already AR41 and struggling because my limited characters are super underpowered even for open world exploration.

7:58 "I unlocked Dragonspine, just because..." Dragonspine is a great source of AR and primogems, there are tons of chests there. For example, there's a ruin grader in the cavern which drops 4 huge chests. It's also a LOT easier to do this ASAP at low world level, because it gets extremely tough later.
My 1 Year since Genshin was just about 2 weeks ago... I started the game already knowing who I wanted to Main and was commited to get them, then only 5 account rerolls in I not only pulled a 5 Star but also pulled exactly who I wanted in Mona on the 1st Beginner Banner (along with Noelle) and Bennett+Fischl on the 2nd. ( o_o) That still feels like a dream to this day, I was prepping myself for a week of resets. Then roughly 2 weeks later when pulling on my first featured banner, for Raiden, I pulled C1 Mona in only 30 Pulls... Needless to say after all that I've only ever won 3 50/50s and iirc only 6 or so 5 Stars that didn't require 70+ Pulls per. So now a year later I'm AR59, have a 100% Map (along with Perfected Natlan and Almost Perfected Fontaine, as in Every Single Chest/Puzzle/Seelie even beyond 100%), all achievements minus just under 30 RNG or Time Gated Commission Achievements (yes that includes 2000 Fish, playing the TCG, and all the Local Legends), all Quests and Reputation cleared (again minus gated commission tied quests outside of my control), effectively everything there is to do in the game besides filling in the Archive for animals and books n' such... Currently got 530+ Fates saved from all that and they're all going towards Citlali C2R1, and Mona's still my Main through all this (now C2 takes to the Anniversary selector), along with Yoimiya and soon to be Citlali.
One of my first 5 stars was Tighnari. He makes everything super easy because his E skill "blinds" enemies. This is really helpful in some fights which seem impossible. He also gives you access to dendro reactions early in the game.
i started genshin back again when xilonen came out n she was my first 5 star n i had hit AR25 but if you get a 5 star before AR 10 your ultimately lucky

My hubby who got Jean and Bennett in his first ever 10 pull on the beginner noelle banner xD My first 5 star was Zhongli and I still main him to this day. I liked him before he got the buff and I still like him now - trying to get him to c6 but it's taken so many years. He's c4 right now and I don't want to whale hard. BP and daily log in is more than enough to be happy
It took me 3 years to get one five star, genshin was really hard for me to understand for some reason, for a year I was lost and when I learned what to do I grinded and got nothing until my friend pulled for me and got me a five star, I just don't enjoy it knowing how hard it is for me, I started to play wuwa with the same friend and it was the easiest thing for me to understand and now I got multiple five star characters, I wish I could get into genshin just as much. my friend started making their own content too TechTakuVerse I wouldn't have gotten or even tried genshin without him
as a f2p first time player with no other friend playing this game it took me 35 days to save 14400 primo gems (90 wishes) and wishing on the limited 5 star banner and i didn't even know about the 50/50 so imagine my shock if I would have not won the banner character in the 90 pulls, , when I pulled for Tighnari on my 20th pull I didn't even know that I have lost my 50/50, I thought that we win certain random 5 stars just like we are guaranteed a 4 star in a 10 pull, but fortunately I got Furina the 4.7 banner character roundabout my 50th pull, I kept pulling for her c1 and then somewhere around the 80th pull I got dehya, again not realizing that I again lost 50/50 and that I am guaranteed a banner character next time I win, so this was my first 90 wishes, for a while I stuck to this pattern of 90 wishes but my luck got worse with time and at times needing almost 150 pulls to get the banner character's like it happened in case of raiden, nahida and neuvillette,, worst was neuvillete because I got yaoyao around 8-9 times and I didnt even want constellations on her and she became my very first c6 character
I was lucky and got my first 5* on my first 10 summons and it was enough to get me invested for a long time due to how lucky and grateful I've got. Still playing strongly after 2yrs.
I first started playing Genshin back on Kokomi's first banner, and I played like crazy (got to AR 40ish in a week). I got my first 5 star which is Mona from the standard banner on my 3rd day or so playing, and got a double 5 star the following day (got early Jean, and Kokomi in the same 10 pulls), then a few days later got Kokomi again within 20ish pulls, and her weapon within 30ish pulls. 😂😂
hint: to find seelies when you have found their station you can use Elemental sight in wich direction the seelie is.... how do so many people not know this yet xD
I started playing last week cause I lost a bet on stream (Reached a sub goal of 50). I found that in GEnshin there is sooo much stuff to do and a lot to think about. I had to remember when elements work together (I still don't know what overload means), remember to use my resins daily and do daily quests and then have to always claim the primo rewards. One thing that I hate so much is the climbing. There is soooo much climbing to do! And not enough stamina....I don't know how I got suckered into Genshin. But I love it so far. I can't wait to pull for Mavuika. Saving all my primos!
Overload is just more damage, you can easily see what the damage mutliplier of different reaction is when you click on the little "?" next to elemental mastery when checking a character stat. Also, you don't really have to remember all reaction, especially outside of team building, and that's debatable since you can totally make a team that ignore elemental reaction that work.
My little brother pulled Jean on his second roll of the beginner banner and then never played the game again. Somewhere out there is an abandoned f2p account with the 4 starters, Noelle and Jean.
it took me like 20 minutes, bc when we got the free 20 pulls from the mail and i wished on the noelle banner and on my second pull i got keqing! and sucrose (now i have c5 sucrose, I HATE SUCROSE!!!)
I got yae at 30 pity during her last banner (so wow it’s been almost a year) and that was the entire reason I kept playing because I was like I gotta get to inazuma to level her up 😭 and now I’m here.
Damn, this reminds me of when I first played Genshin in mid-May this year. It took me around late May/ early June to get a 5-star which is my long time character to use in genshin, Clorinde.
I don't know if I count at that point since it's been some month, I've started around Emilie release (maybe some day before), the first 5* star I had was Keqing I think, and I still use her because I like her gameplay and allow me to not fall asleep while playing. And, let's just say that it wasn't the best the first experience that I had with a game, I started with Star Rail after learning that the dev of that game loved the serie of video game that I love the most out of every video that exist in the world, and after that thought that genshin should be as good as star rail since it's from the same company. After Mondstadt, I quickly realised that what I initially thought was wrong...
My first 5 star was Dehya when I joined at right as Fontaine. I genuinely thought she was the coolest thing ever...and then i learned what they did to her...and still used her as my Pyro...and then I got Keqing...and then Nahida...and I was using Anemo Lumine...I was a mess back then but it was a lot of fun.
for me i got neuvilette at ar 20 or 19 because i kept farming primos and dumping it into him for pity for citlali , and when i got him i dont regret a single thing
first 5* was the primordial jade spear but if were talking characters it was nahida. i then proceeded to get zhongli, neuvillette, mavuka, qiqi, citlali and dehya. im F2P but for some reason insanely lucky. i started the game when it was the nahida and hu tao banners
started an alt account around hu tao banner and no lifed the game for a couple of days. took me ~156 wishes to get her and i was at AR 43 by the time i got her. Pulled a qiqi in the middle of inazuma archon quest and pulled hu tao towards the beginning of natlan.

I started playing Genshin around that time and i got and still am insanely lucky with 5 stars. The first character i pulled was raiden with 0 pity, she literally was the first character i pulled, then i got Diluc and Qiqi from standard banner in a 10 pull and a double raiden drop just as i finished Mondstadt. So i got 5 5 stars with round about 60 pulls. I actually got every event Character except Lyney and Hutao with insanely low pity, as Neuvilette released i got a double drop again with around 20 pity. I also just lost one 50/50 to Jean. I generally get characters with low pity, i think the only high pity was Nahida with 80ish. But i am insanely unlucky with 4 stars and artifacts, like i spend so much resin but only get trash. I hope my 5 star luck continues for Mavuika, i have saved 25 pulls until now, i hope i get at least 60.
during 2020 when genshin came out i tried to play it. my ipad didnt have enough storage, so i just gave up and forgot about it. then last year (i was about to say this year lol) zenless zone zero came out, and i decided to try playing genshin again! this time i had enough storage. I played when there was that event where you can invite a standard 5star into your party, so i got my first 5 star in genshin within an hour of playing (not counting travaler)
I spent 3 months to get from 1 to AR55, it was painful, now I have 7 5 stars chara and 2 5 stars weapons (standard weapon), I don't have enough resource to pull on the weapon banner. My first ever 5 star was Dehya (cuz of the selection), my first limited was Nahida.
I only started playing genshin I think around the end of 4.7 earlier this year, didn't pull on any limited banners until the recent Zhongli banner as I made it a deal to not pull on any limited banner until it's the characters I want hahah All this while I only pulled from the standard banner from free pulls from quests, and the first ever 5 star I got was Wolf's Gravestone. Only managed to get my very first ever 5 star character from the free standard 5 star pick on 5.0 xD
I remember I didn't enjoy the game because doing 20 reroll, I uninstall the game, 1 or 2 patch later I play again without reroll and do planning to not abandon my characters, the plan is every patch 1 archon (and sign) + 1 character (and sign) + 1 support character if I'm lucky. In the end of the day, full 4 stars character can clear both abyss and theater.
@Aristotle18"i remember i didnt enjoy the game very much at first, because I would just do the initial 20 free pulls you could quickly get at the start of the game and reroll over and over again. Ended up uninstalling the game. 1 or 2 patches later i got back into it and decided to not reroll and I've been steadily playing it now. My plan for every major update (version 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, etc) is to get 1 archon + their signature weapon as well as one other character I personally like + their signature. And maybe a meta support if im lucky. But even if not, its alright since 4 star characters only teams can clear sprial abyss and imaginarium theater."

Overload is just more damage, you can easily see what the damage mutliplier of different reaction is when you click on the little "?" next to elemental mastery when checking a character stat.
Also, you don't really have to remember all reaction, especially outside of team building, and that's debatable since you can totally make a team that ignore elemental reaction that work.

it took me like 20 minutes, bc when we got the free 20 pulls from the mail and i wished on the noelle banner and on my second pull i got keqing! and sucrose (now i have c5 sucrose, I HATE SUCROSE!!!)
I got yae at 30 pity during her last banner (so wow it’s been almost a year) and that was the entire reason I kept playing because I was like I gotta get to inazuma to level her up 😭 and now I’m here.

Damn, this reminds me of when I first played Genshin in mid-May this year.
It took me around late May/ early June to get a 5-star which is my long time character to use in genshin, Clorinde.
I who started genshin a week ago is like:
"sounds like i gotta have to forget about grass if i have to keep playing"
I don't know if I count at that point since it's been some month, I've started around Emilie release (maybe some day before), the first 5* star I had was Keqing I think, and I still use her because I like her gameplay and allow me to not fall asleep while playing.
And, let's just say that it wasn't the best the first experience that I had with a game, I started with Star Rail after learning that the dev of that game loved the serie of video game that I love the most out of every video that exist in the world, and after that thought that genshin should be as good as star rail since it's from the same company.
After Mondstadt, I quickly realised that what I initially thought was wrong...

My first 5 star was Dehya when I joined at right as Fontaine. I genuinely thought she was the coolest thing ever...and then i learned what they did to her...and still used her as my Pyro...and then I got Keqing...and then Nahida...and I was using Anemo Lumine...I was a mess back then but it was a lot of fun.

for me i got neuvilette at ar 20 or 19 because i kept farming primos and dumping it into him for pity for citlali , and when i got him i dont regret a single thing

first 5* was the primordial jade spear but if were talking characters it was nahida. i then proceeded to get zhongli, neuvillette, mavuka, qiqi, citlali and dehya. im F2P but for some reason insanely lucky. i started the game when it was the nahida and hu tao banners

started an alt account around hu tao banner and no lifed the game for a couple of days. took me ~156 wishes to get her and i was at AR 43 by the time i got her. Pulled a qiqi in the middle of inazuma archon quest and pulled hu tao towards the beginning of natlan.

When i reached ar 11 my gambling instincts activated and pulled out a neuvellite on my 11th spin(and yet im still ar 17)
On my first 10 pull (I pulled on the standard banner instead of the Noelle banner) I got a skyward blade
I started playing Genshin around that time and i got and still am insanely lucky with 5 stars.
The first character i pulled was raiden with 0 pity, she literally was the first character i pulled, then i got Diluc and Qiqi from standard banner in a 10 pull and a double raiden drop just as i finished Mondstadt.
So i got 5 5 stars with round about 60 pulls.
I actually got every event Character except Lyney and Hutao with insanely low pity, as Neuvilette released i got a double drop again with around 20 pity.
I also just lost one 50/50 to Jean.
I generally get characters with low pity, i think the only high pity was Nahida with 80ish.
But i am insanely unlucky with 4 stars and artifacts, like i spend so much resin but only get trash.
I hope my 5 star luck continues for Mavuika, i have saved 25 pulls until now, i hope i get at least 60.

Fun fact: my first ever 5 star was traveler.
And second was Furina. I didn't even know what the hell pity meant but I got her at 30 pity.
during 2020 when genshin came out i tried to play it. my ipad didnt have enough storage, so i just gave up and forgot about it. then last year (i was about to say this year lol) zenless zone zero came out, and i decided to try playing genshin again! this time i had enough storage. I played when there was that event where you can invite a standard 5star into your party, so i got my first 5 star in genshin within an hour of playing (not counting travaler)

A very important thing to note I feel like, is a GOOD 5 star or a 5 star that can't even clear 2 regions back is an important distinction tho
I spent 3 months to get from 1 to AR55, it was painful, now I have 7 5 stars chara and 2 5 stars weapons (standard weapon), I don't have enough resource to pull on the weapon banner. My first ever 5 star was Dehya (cuz of the selection), my first limited was Nahida.
I only started playing genshin I think around the end of 4.7 earlier this year, didn't pull on any limited banners until the recent Zhongli banner as I made it a deal to not pull on any limited banner until it's the characters I want hahah
All this while I only pulled from the standard banner from free pulls from quests, and the first ever 5 star I got was Wolf's Gravestone. Only managed to get my very first ever 5 star character from the free standard 5 star pick on 5.0 xD
I remember I didn't enjoy the game because doing 20 reroll, I uninstall the game, 1 or 2 patch later I play again without reroll and do planning to not abandon my characters, the plan is every patch 1 archon (and sign) + 1 character (and sign) + 1 support character if I'm lucky. In the end of the day, full 4 stars character can clear both abyss and theater.

@Aristotle18"i remember i didnt enjoy the game very much at first, because I would just do the initial 20 free pulls you could quickly get at the start of the game and reroll over and over again. Ended up uninstalling the game. 1 or 2 patches later i got back into it and decided to not reroll and I've been steadily playing it now. My plan for every major update (version 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, etc) is to get 1 archon + their signature weapon as well as one other character I personally like + their signature. And maybe a meta support if im lucky. But even if not, its alright since 4 star characters only teams can clear sprial abyss and imaginarium theater."
