    This long form is great, I’m sure it was a ton of fun and a lot of work to final edit! Liked the highlight reel at the end. Utah is so crazy, love it there. this is motivating me to sell the airstream and get smaller.

      Thanks! Definitely was a lot of work to edit, haha. Utah is amazing .... like nowhere else we've ever been. We've gone back almost every year since we first went there!
      We wanted an Airstream for a long time. I love 'em ..... but once we realized we enjoy getting further off grid, we had to let go of that idea

    It was great to meet you today at Mule Outfitters! I love the focus and emphasis on geological features you provide
    in both Utah and Washington. If you ever host an event for locals, let us know! Cheers 🍻

    Duck waders, chest high, and a life jacket, invaluable tools for walking a submerged route prior to committing the vehicle

      True! I knew that crossing wasn't more than 16" deep thanks to some intel .... buuuuuut had it been an unknown, 100% would've walked it first

    Capitol Reef Resort is also a great place to stay. Take the jeep tour, if you don’t have an off road vehicle. We road our motorcycle there from Stockton California, had a great time.

    Excellent video and dialog. I’ve been through these areas multiple times, yet was entranced by the stunning beauty.

    Really cool!! I usually don’t watch long videos but I watched the whole thing. Well done video to both of you. I have lived in Utah since 2005 and I’ve been all of the places you traveled. That is close to the exact route I would guide somebody through Utah. That was a perfect use of that amount of time!! I’m glad you guys really take the time to stop and relax/enjoy along the way. Maybe I’ll see you on the trails someday!

      Thanks for the kind words! Utah is SUCH an amazing place. Having done two trips there, it still feels like we've barely scratched the surface.

    Beautiful man. I just did a 10 day trip all over southern utah about 2 weeks ago, so amazing. My rig got in wreck a month before , so I wasn't able to do any rough trails and get to some of those amazing camp spots :( thanks for sharing !

      Oh man, sorry to hear about your rig. But yeah, southern Utah is like nowhere else. The camera never does the landscape justice!

    How did you manage your fuel mileage on those longer stretches? I've got a v8 4Runner (lifted, roof rack etc. 13mpg) and so that's one of my first concerns about a trip like this.

    • @WheretoNextOverland
      @WheretoNextOverland  2 месяца назад

      Good question. At the time we did this trip, we didn't have a good mounting solution for spare fuel, so we were extra conservative when route planning. My general rule of thumb was to never get further than 100 miles from a possible bailout / gas station. This way, even if we were forced to backtrack, we could theoretically reach a gas stop with a max offroad range of about 240 miles (10mpg / 24 gallon tank)
      Doing this DID limit our route somewhat. There were areas where we had to bail early or find shortcuts in order to make sure we had the range

    What is your preferred drone?

    • @WheretoNextOverland
      @WheretoNextOverland  4 дня назад

      This video (and all our videos from the past year) have been shot using a DJI Mini 3 Pro. Before that we had a Mini 2.
      We like it, it's compact, easy to transport / use, and has pretty good features
      Definitely not as good as the bigger DJI drones .... but has worked well for us!
