I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this!! That VT mustang mare was Gorgeous and I appreciate you liking her. Just cuz she's Vintage doesn't mean they aren't worthy. 🖤

Thanks for sharing! I love seeing show videos! I tried those bed-riser stands for show tables last fall finally after seeing folks in other regions using them and I definitely want to invest in more so I can lift all of my rings at future shows! So much better to avoid bending over as much, especially for judges! They work with rolling stools as well if those are adjusted to the right height for judge who can't stand all day.
The only minor disagreement I have to offer is if I am judging breed, I am not taking any collectibility into account. Personal preference sure, if that happens to be something rarer, but I don't like to focus on those for breed unless there's a really obvious winner that wouldn't make sense to ignore. There are a lot of really nice models that are more common, and personally I don't want to contribute to the viewpoint that some people have that you have to own rarer models to bother going to shows & do well which I see come up from time to time (plus I'm a novice level host most frequently so I'm probably more sensitive to that sort of thing). Nothing is inherently wrong with your method of course, especially with such small classes (I'm used to classes of like 40+ for some of the same class categories, and sometimes we do have Stone separate for more than just stock).
I'd love to hear more about your thoughts on the groups of molds for each class and what makes them closer to or further from the breed standard from your perspective, especially those with a bunch of different molds :) I am a confident collectibility judge, but I'm always looking to learn more about the breed side (I usually judge AR or CM where either there are fewer faults from an ABC perspective or they're more obvious when not fixed or changed incorrectly - OF is tough because some faults are only the way they are to allow for molding and/or are reflective of the technology when the mold was made, so it can be tougher to decide what to forgive and what to actually fault for). I do take into account things like shading/paint application, condition, standing straight, etc, but more commonly when I need a tiebreaker between multiple OF of the same run.

Thank you so much for your reply! You make some excellent points, for sure. Probably the best time I ever had judging was when I helped out with a double judged show-- all I had to do was OF collectability. The breed judge and I rarely chose the same model; it was really interesting!
I'd love to do a video that's more in-depth about breed judging and touches on some of your questions! Hopefully I can get something pulled together!

Great Video! I love getting an inside perspective from a judge! Could you go more into detail about what makes a horse not place when it is similar to another? Are there any specific molds/ models you wouldn’t recommend bringing as part of your show string?
