Three years now without a single strike, since installing one GS2 at the top of our 195' tower on a hill. Before installation, the tower took strikes during every storm. The Gila-Stat has been a real life-changer for me. Constantly replacing equipment used to be a way of life, but not anymore.
Hi Ron, the 40 foot sailboat my wife and I live on is 44 years old and has never been hit by lightning, even though it has been through tremendous lightning storms in Panama, S. Pacific and the coast of Africa. Some sailboats we know of, have been struck 2 and 3 times. I have to think, our luck is because we have a "witches broom", if not the same as yours, then very similar, mounted on the top of our 55 foot mast. The mast is grounded to the bronze propeller strut. There can be no other reason.
What a cool product. I am constantly trying to explain to customers the simple principle of EMPs, that you don't need a direct hit to destroy electronics.
i just had our house hit by lighting well a 40 ft hi pine tree 40 feet away the lighting went in to the ground then got in to my earth ground & fried most of my house. if we put a few of these up on the corners of our 1 story house would it help we still have alot of tall trees around?
It is dangerous to think this product will guarantee a complete protection from a direct lightning strike! I suppose It can only lower the probability of the strike if the engineering design is done correctly... Therefore, a classical lightning instalation (but without classical Franklin rod) is highly recommended anycase
There isn't any lightening or surge protection system that gives you 100% protection. The only thing is to be able to identify one that works close to perfect depending on the environment in which you find yourself. Some geo locations are extremely receptive to lighting. Trees also really help to minimize the impact of lightening. Be environmental friendly when next you decide to pull down a tree(s).

Is it installed with a conductive material that goes down to deck/waterline/ground ?
Clear, Honest and concise explanation. Beauty in simplicity. Thanks Ron for enlightening.
I have installed hundreds of these, saved a lot of money and time chasing blown fuses and equipment out in the field.
Dear
are you applied these items to protect telecom tower,
could please provide some technical description on manufactured items you used
Electrically charged lightning repellent. Prevent the voltage accumulation in the first place. This is what I've been looking for.
It's the first time I watched an entire video.
thank you.
Lots of great information. I really appreciate all the data you posted here in this video. Thanks...

One of the best videos on youtube i seen so far...Thanks so much.
This video is a mine of information. Many thanks for posting it.
1 meter copper lightning rod, 15mm thick, 4 inches ball, covers how much area for lightning? Is it enough for 200sqft mounted solar panels?
THANK YOU..120 FT DIPOLE HAM RADIO ANT,TO A DIAMOND SHAPED FULL WAVE LOOP AT 257 FT,,,,,,,,,GROUND IT WHEN STORM APPROACHES OR NOT?
Some decent information here but it would be much better if it had pictures and diagrams to support what is being said.
thank you for your presentation it was very informative .

It's dangerous for people to think... period!

would these work as lightning rods for metal buildings ?
