Ushers wear gloves because when we were slaves, we went to church with the slave owners. The sassons didn't want the slave hand to touch theirs, the hand behind the back was to insure the slave didn't steal monies out of the collection plate.
I am Pentecostal and I have visit n watch on Utube the Baptist church n How they conduct there Ushers..I love to watch them becuz they do it with much pride and seriousness..We as Pentecostal should follow that example.
There is something that I will ALWAYS remember about going to Church besides the Pastor, the sermon and fellowship is the dignity and service of the ushers of a good Black Church like this one . I grew up in a Church like this one and will always have a place in my heart for the ushers. All good memories! Thank you for this video and have a blessed day! Peace! :D
I’m an usher. I LOVE...being an usher. You cannot be tha’ best at it-if you DO NOT love being a servant to tha’ servant. It’s not for everybody. An ushers mindset should be ‘first one there, last one leaving.’ It is a beautiful ministry and a ‘gift’. Unfortunately, with such a rich and historical tradition in tha’ Black Church-it is becoming more and more ‘lax’ as generations pass. Sad. No one seems to take it serious anymore but-as long as I am able...I will do it with pride and love in serving my sisters, brothers...others. Giving Glory to tha’ Most High GOD always and with a heart driven smile. 🙏🏾❤️🔥
There's a church I miss attending in L.A., called Tabernacle Of Faith. I'd like to discuss a sad moment about a particular female usher, she never married or had kids, during service, she cried. 😭
Two questions of the many I have 1.) why do ushers wear white gloves? 2.) how is ushering a talent when in fact is a trained practice which anyone can be trained to do so
Jairo Baltodano Greetings. In response to your question. I grew up in the black church. We had senior ushers, junior ushers etc. I can only speak of my experience so I’m not an expert on the “black church.” Service or “rolling up your sleeves” and being active in church was viewed very favorably by those within the church. Sometimes, a person felt a calling or a passion toward a particular function in the church, other times, a need arose and a person served out of duty. In either case, as long as the persons heart is right toward God (they have repented of their sins and accepted Christ’s death on the cross as the payment for their sins) then God is not so much concerned about their ability but their availability. As far as the gloves, it is just part of a uniform to ID the person as an usher. Referees wear black and white striped shirts, police officers were blue, doctors wear white. It’s all part of the uniform.
This is a great video and I love the uniformity of the usher ministry. You must be a person who loves to serve and have a spirit of hospitality as people enter into God’s house.
Usher's originally wore white gloves in the slavery days because whites claimed to see the slave's hand if they were stealing. The average black person won't know because they never researched or ask. Facts
@@rodneywalker6609 It came from slavery. The slave master believed that they could see their slaves hand just in case they were trying to steal. Facts Family
I'm let ya know right now ya slippin 🍷 I gave you 1 job and one job only and that was to pick ⛏️ UP the $1.00 peppermints 🍬 at the dollar 🏪 store for our guests where is IRENE at it doesn't matter that they had bottle water 💧 that was supposed to add added flare to it.

Thank you so much for explaining what ushers duties are in the church.
Seems ushers hold the church together. Good job.

I started to be a usher for the first time yesterday

Is there's a verse in the Bible about this study here in the video? If yes, feel free to educate me here, thanks. With due respect nothing personal.

400yrs of praying and still nothing. Everyone has had heaven on earth except for the blacks. 🙏🤔
I’m sorry, but all those ushers aren’t necessary. That church is too small for that.
