    also, idk how you managed to get such perfect rolls on basically every pair of boots you have.. its pretty awesome..

    Horse hide is more expensive because of the availability. Cow hide is less expensive because of the supply. The more expensive leather becomes coveted as a luxury item. Does horse hide perform any better? Is it more durable? Is it better than any other leather in any way?

  • @renangaidheal1320
    @renangaidheal1320 9 дней назад +1

    Since most of the horsehide is obtained from Europe where folks are eating horse, it's going to be a matter of supply and demand---nowadays there are fewer folks consuming horse. Did you mention that it's harder to break in than bovine leather? (I think you did.) I have a pair of horsehide double soled shoes (from JL) and it will take 140 years before they break in (if I wore them everyday) but the skeletal-esque grain is astonishingly beautiful (and worth the stiffness). Great video. (Also, I'd warmly recommend the Mail's Black Creme Polish for the Attractions. I've the same boots and you're right that they are tea-coring through faster than others. This is superb polish, lightly applied, brush them like you're in love.)

    I think you should better define your usage of overrated. I think I've figured out that you're more or less saying "overhyped" or using a more literal sense of the word overrated. IE people overlooking drawbacks and overstating the positives and then applying that to all horsehide across the board. The "rating" that people give it is higher due to misleading factors. At least, that's how I've come to interpret your usage. Same with your sentiments on CXL.
    To me and many others, overrated has a very negative connotation, and I think that people tend to assume that when someone says something is overrated that it means it's bad and not worth your time. Which is obviously not what you're saying here.

    • @almostvintagestyle
      @almostvintagestyle 8 дней назад
