I just want to share this coz it made me so happy . 3 days ago i shared 1 of the speeches of Mufti Menk to my Christian friend coz she told me she wants to try fasting for a week and today after i prayed fajr and went to bed i saw a msge from her thanking me for sharing it she said she loves it and bec i mentioned i just prayed my fajr that she googled it what is fajr prayer and trying to understand it. Another year has been ushered in and soon we will be made to witness another blessed month of Ramadhan insha Allah. How fortunate are we, the Ummah of our beloved Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم that we have been bestowed with this month of divine favour and the outpour of immense and tremendous blessing so much so that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “If my Ummah would realise what Ramadhan really is, they would wish that the whole year round should be Ramadhan.” Its almost as if the silent protests of those unable to comprehend the authenticity and validity of this hadith has become audible; who not only find it difficult to give up their food and drink but their persistent traits of disobedience committed in the subsequent months throughout the entire year. This is assuredly due to our restricted and rudimentary appreciation of what Ramadhan truly represents; oblivious to the tremendous and colossal profit and gain to be acquired and waiting for us to reap. For some, this month will be passed by like any other month; unrecognised and unnoticed in being overlooked and passed over, the ending result in an individual becoming even more steeped in misguidance. If our minds continue to remain closed and cordoned off the entire year and even when the month of Ramadhan embarks upon us we still remain idle and inactive; in earning Allah’s سبحانه وتعالى forgiveness then what could be a greater sense of loss than this? Enough is enough, we have wasted most of our lives in empty; purposeless and worthless trifling pursuits. Our souls have degenerated to the point of decay. How much longer will we continue behaving in this manner? Are we going to wait for the Angel of Death to come knocking on our door before we decide it is time for change; for by then it will be far too late if we have not amended and rectified our conduct before this day. The time for change begins-NOW. We are only a few weeks away from Ramadhan. The Sahabah Kiram would prepare themselves six months prior in anticipation for Ramadhan. Ramadhan has been declared the official month for the complete workout for our souls; in purifying ourselves and in seeking nearness to Allah سبحانه وتعالي . Even before a person commences a physical workout such as that of an exercise regime, a warm up programme is elemental so a person can maintain a smooth transition without pain or discomfort. Similarly, by warming ourselves in performing more righteous deeds prior to Ramadhan; when the blessed month finally arrives we will be able to welcome it with open arms; in maintaining a higher level of connection in performing and carrying out deeds, by forming a greater attachment and routine in practicing the newly formed habits which we have grown accustomed to carrying out in preparation; hence the overall change won’t feel overwhelming and strenuous when we finally come to committing ourselves in Ramadhan. In attempting to increase our ibadat, we should ardently aspire to excel in our performance of carrying out righteous action and deeds, vying and competing with one another as the Sahabah Kiram did with one another. It is truly an unfortunate person who remains deprived of the blessings of this month; unable to render its due in failing to gain from the expansive and outstretched forgiveness of our Lord. This is further elucidated in the following hadith: Kaab ibn Ujrahعنه الله رضي relates that Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Come near to the minbar ,” and we came near to the minbar. When he climbed the first step of the minbar, he said “ameen.” When he ascended the second step, he said ameen. When he climbed the third step, he said: “ameen.” When he came down we said: “O Rasul of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم , we have heard from you something which we never heard before.” He said, “When I climbed the first step, Jibreel appeared before me and said : ‘Destruction to him who found the blessed month of Ramadhan and let it pass by without gaining forgiveness.’ Upon that I said, ‘ameen.’ When I climbed the second step he said, ‘Destruction to him before whom thy name is mentioned and then he does not recite salawat (invoke Allah’s blessings) on you. I replied: ‘ameen.’ When I climbed the third step, he said, ‘Destruction unto him in whose lifetime his parents or either one of them reaches old age, and (through failure to serve them) he is not allowed to enter Jannah.” I said, ‘ameen.’ We should not take this matter lightly, for if we fail to earn forgiveness in a month where the doors of Jannah are wide open, with phenomenal rewards that are being not only promised but multiplied manifolds; if we fail in earning the pleasure of our Lord in this blessed month, despite being given every mode and manner to attain salvation and success, then what could be a greater sense of loss than this? We have been fortunate to have been given another chance; so the question is: are we going to rise to the challenge and fulfill in accomplishing of what is expected of us, or are we going to sit back complacently and allow another year of our life to slip us by. My dear brothers and sisters, do not be fooled into thinking, ‘we have many more years at our disposal,’ for when death will come it shall wait for no one. On the day of judgment, when the people will be asked how long they tarried in this world they will reply that they stayed for even less than a day, for this is how it will feel in comparison to the time scale in the akhirah, as reflected in the following verse: “(Allah) will say, ‘ How long did you remain on earth in number of years?’ They will say, ‘We remained a day or part of a day, ask those who enumerate. He will say, ‘You stayed not but a little - if only you had known.’” (23:112-114)
People say that they are bored and they have nothing to do in lockdown. They don't realise that they are losing something very precious, which is time and they are not using in a good way. Instead they waste their time in useless and inappropriate stuffs. May ALLAH guide us all in the right path.
