- Here's the fantastic Spinners performing live Sadie. Philippe Wynne really gives his all. This is one of the best songs dedicated to mothers.
The Spinners rate as one of the most fantastic groups along with The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Dramatics, The OJays, The Stylistics, The Whispers, The Intruders, Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes, and The Delfonics. They were apart of the golden age of classic soul groups who mesmirized us with their dances, energy, and love songs.
It's Ashame, Rubberband Man, Mighty Love, Could It Be I'm Falling In Love, I'll Be Around, Mighty Love, One of a kind Love Affair, Ghetto Child, Sadie, How Could I Let You Get Away, Then Came You, Games People Play, Love Don't Love NoBody, were among their biggest hits, making them the premier group of the 70's. It's a crime that they're not in the rock n roll hall of fame
I agree!! Their Resume of HITS is Spectacular!! The Spinners should be INDUCTED into the Rock n roll Hall of fame!🎶🎶🎶🎵🎵🎶!!
Exactly
@@MrDkirksey23 Have seen the Spinners twice, 40 years apart. Spectacular, but they are not rockers. Create a music HOF and they should be the first inducted.
@@stanleyapollon1318 they still haven't put this cats in the HOF....Damn, it's 2022 who we need to talk to DAMN SHAME! REAL MUSIC AT IT'S FINEST

Philippe Wynne is definitely one of the best male vocalist in the world! He had excellent showmanship!
He still sings ever day.
You're absolutely right
Boy could he cut a rug!!! He catches my eyes even when he is not leading, because I love Bobby's voice equally, because he definitely had a special voice and talent.
I approve this message
How I long for the music of the 60s and 70s to return. This was “REAL” music!

In the three years before her death in 1997, everytime this song was on the radio, I would call my mom, no matter the time and sing this to her. I have never grieved her until today. I love you Delores Campbell. I miss you so much. 😥
as do i, may she rest well.
I was the guitarist during the time when Phillippe left us.
I remember on the road when we performed Sadie the audiences would be in tears and everybody singing along.
Nice ❤
He sings this song like a tailored made suit, this is ICONIC, this song is eternal and he and only he can perform it

Phillip Wynn's voice was absolutely beautiful. It moves my soul in the best way. And yes, he was one of the best adlib-er EVER!!
The Greatest Ab libber ever..no competition

Miss Hangers you nailed it dear lady...His voice was soul shaking & earth moving...God blessed that Man with the Goods...He saw a lot and experienced a lot too sing like that
Its Sonya Yeah his storytelling ability and adlib was absolutely the greatest.
Well...I would say right after Mr. Sam Cooke and Miss Ella Fitzgerald in the adlib department...Just saying...
Every time i hear this song i get goose bumps ,while holding back tears.. Losing my mother from Cancer.. Hits hard when you have to watch someone die slowly and uncomfortable., til their last days.. I was blessed to be part of the stage crew for the Spinners 1977 just a year after this recording. It is true they were absolutely amazing in concert!
You’re one lucky man . I can just imagine what it must’ve been like to wittness greatness like that up close and personal. Spinners are one of the most impactful groups to this day . They were out long before I was born and this performance was 3 years before I was born . But this is one of the best performances I’ve ever seen in my life .
I don't care what happens.. I just want to go back in time to this beautiful place of yesteryear forever....
@Sir, Bouvier Fitzgerald I agree with you. So do I.
Same here!

This man was a treasure. And in a world of music long before pitch correction and associated audio alchemy, these folks sang like angels. LOVE it.

No doubt, if you need autotune, you can't sing, and should not be.
@@markusgarvey ... you ain't never lied... where is the talent if you have to use autotune or synthesizer...$H!t, I could sing if I had an auto-tune backing me up... and I couldn't hold a note if I had crazy glue on my hands, LOL!!!
The eternally moving song was written and produced by Joseph B. Jefferson, Bruce Hawes and Charles Simmons. It is sung by The Spinners, with lead vocals by Philippé Wynne OB"M.
The perfect Mother's Day song for all mothers. An all time favorite of mine that never gets old.
Pharrell and Snoop weren't lying, this man has a voice with so much soul... it's amazing.

in A little shotgun house in a little town in Arkansas I was born cripple and my mother did not want me..doctors said that I would never walk. but Thanks be onto God for blessing me with my Beautiful Praying grandmother who loved God and me more than her own life. she never gave up on me, always prayed for me and took care of me even when she was herself in much pain and was in fact dying of sickle cell anemia. up until her last breath she loved me with her all and I love her and Thank her always for everything. How could ANYONE not like this song? They obviously never had a "Sadie" in their lives! SAD!
We just lost our dear Aunt and this week we're having the funeral. She was the rock in our family and she'll be terribly missed! Rest on and rest well, Sarah Parnell.

My Sadie Mae was my mother. Happy Heavenly Birthday, momma. I miss you so very much. 💔
One of the greatest voices of all time!... I was a little boy when this song came out. Even then I knew that I was hearing something special. This song means so much to so many different people. Love it!!
I been loving this song ever since the 70s mother everyone was playing it.

My MOTHER Name was SADIE, I Miss Her very much but Everything is going to be alright!!! Happy Mother's Day to all you who still have their Mother ... Peace & Love to those whose Mother's have moved on to the Soul Plane!!!
And they are now calling Sam Smith the new face of soul. He's alright, nice melodies, cool tone...But Don't EVER Get it twisted...THIS is REAL SOUL MUSIC!!!
Sweet, sweet soul.
Respect!
Vince Durrell you better tell it
The only band currently carrying on the old Philly Soul sound is Hall and Oates, and that's because they were (and are) a part of the Sigma Sound group from the early 70's. They're the real thing.
Daryl Hall considers Phillipe a key influence, along with David Ruffin and Eddie Kendrick.
You should watch video of Stephanie Mills going off on these “white soul singers!”

That story of Sadie asking to clean floors - my mom is still with me, but damn! *tear*
Philippe wynne great performance. ..
This is what music is all about... I don't care what other people think or say but this is good music. I have a sweet friend and her name is Sadie. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW !
Goosebumps in every atom of my temple. What a SINGER
This song is heartwarming and soul touching. Even as a grown man this gets me emotional each and every time.
THANK GOD MY SADIE STILL LIVIN!! I REALLY NEED TO APPRICIATE HER MORE!!!
Jetauna Freeman, Yes Ms. Freeman we all Should Whether they are still here or have passed on we should never let the memory of our Sadie fade away....
amen!
Jetauna Freeman , please appreciate your Mother tangibly-forget about texting, FaceTime, etc...go see her; hug her, touch her face. My Mother was incapacitated for 38-years before she transitioned, but at least I could still talk to her, touch her and love on her. And, even after Alzheimer’s set-in on top of her primary illness, she still knew me because I spent quality time with her...some of my siblings live with regret about their lack of time with her. God bless and be well. Not a sermon, just wisdom from experience. :-)
This song always makes me cry!!
I reflect on my heavenly mother every time I hear this song and to see them perform it ....my..my...my..
Love this! One of my favorites by the Spinners. Philippe Wynn really does this song justice. Lord that man can sing a song! May he Rest in Musical Paradise.
PHILLIPPE is alive in Detroit his name is
Rev Roy Abrams. He still sings every day..
@@janeharrison1713 According to Wikipedia Philippe Wynne died of a heart attack while on stage at a nightclub on July 14, 1984. All Music states that he died in October 1984 during a concert. Others here are citing his demise as well. So is there a Philippe, Jr. ?? Has the Rev. Roy channeled Philippe or what?
He was the David Ruffin of the Spinners.
This man could sing shit & make it sound like sugar!
This song can evoke such emotions
This guy can really portray emotion with the real thing.
Here I am, sitting up here looking at this video with a smile from ear to ear as Phillipe did his thing. There's no arguement from me as to Phillipe Wynn's musical legacy & contributions to the Spinners. I loved what John Edwards brought to the group afterwards, but it was Phillipe Wynn who brought that magic. At the end of the day, the Spinners is that group that was like ,"Man, did you see that?!" Great stuff & great post my friend. ;-)
Phillipe Wynn was so underrated
Yessir
I feel they should have been a bigger part of the Motown Experience they had a great sound
Yes he was!
So true
Where the hell do you get that he was underrated? Is this the thing to say for the sake of saying it? EVERYONE knew of him. Are you crazy?

Today's my Great Grandmas birthday, and her name was Sadie Mae as well, and my whole life this song has reminded me of her, I feel like it was made just for her. Even though she is not here physically am going to celebrate her 100th birthday with the joy am obtaining in my own life, because her love has kept me beyond the grave and I know I will see her again. God bless those who are searching for that mother to love them, just be the example of love for yourself Peace
I was raised by a Sadie in Kansas City, who was raised by a Sadie in Kinloch, MO. Today, Sept. 20, would have been my mom's 88th birthday. "Rest well, Momma. I'll see you in the morning!"
