Thanks for the shout out haha! I really wasn't expecting it! And of course thanks for the great video once again. You did butcher my name but it's ok all my north American colleagues do it for the past 10 years now :) Regarding bagging the camera itself I do have one suggestion for you though. Instead of 2 bags you can do the same job with just one. simply cut the bottom part when holding the bad horizontally, place it on top of your camera. Your camera should be completely covered now but with lose ends at the bottom. Simply clip those lose ends with bulldog clips to the rodes or anything else available et voilà!
@@SteadiRed get clear leaf bags to start so you can see through the bag to the camera. Allows you to still push camera buttons if needed because you can see where they are etc. Looking for more videos? I'd love to hear your journey into steadi and how you choose your rig.
Like your videos. Thanks for sharing. I really like the behind the scenes of you using it. Like the one with the guy going up the stairs and you moving around.
Since I don't like wearing things under my vest (chaffing) I like to get a rain shell that I 1 size larger than true size, and sacrifice a side pocket to allow the socket block to go through. For my back mount vest I buy a shell 2 sizes larger and cut a vertical line up the center of the back, get a tailor to attach velcro to the back, and reinforce it. Now the carbon arm of the Klassen vest can come right out the back of the jacket!
Hey! Just found your Channel! Nice interesting content!! quick questions! >you work independently? you own your steadicam i guess? >do you have your own camera you would use with your work or do people book you and give you camera equipment? >how did you started working in this area and >how does a day look for you? >what changed in current covid situation? >how much weight do you carry (how much is your equipment)? how long are you able to hold your equipment (whats your longest shot :D) ? >whats your workout routine to keep this your standard? thank you for answering and have a great day!! :) just finished this video and have to really give props to this nice waterproof gear!! you don't look silly! it looks really cool! :D what would you use for dirty/mushy ground when its raining?
Thanks! I'm a freelancer so I get hired for individual jobs and I do own the gear that I also rent to the show for the day. The shows provide the camera for me. I started out as a set PA, the lowest job. If you want to go for it save up a lot of money before hand. You won't make much money for a few years. Every day is pritty different. the arm can take 70lbs, but that's including the sled. And that's 15ish pounds. I did a live show today that I had it on for 2 hours. But on films it's much shorter bursts untill you start losing light hahaha.i try to practice every day but I'm sure there are better workouts.
When you go into low (underslung) mode with your steadicam, and you have a fixed position display at the bottom, are you able to see the screen well enough to keep good framing and horizon? I am trying to configure my rig and I don’t want to spend unnecessarily to gain a function that is not going to make much of a difference. Do you have a video on your channel on building out your rig?
yeah, I know what you mean. I started using a low mode monitor to make it easier to see but of course that costs money. so I also would put my monitor up on the post as high as possible and flip it over on the yoke. I show it in my Steadicam beginners guide part 2 ruclips.net/video/QcWaRXrNW_A/видео.html
I have a lot of problem with wind buffeting the recycling sacks that I'm using and because I'm a one man band covering rugby matches I have the mics on the side of the video cage picking up the flapping noise. The whole thing can act like a sail as well. So when I get the arm completed (building a 'steadycam' rig using a monopod as the post, so for the moment it's a monopod, a monitor, a battery, a gimbal, and a camera on it) I'm concerned that I won't be able to use this method. I'd be interested to know what the effect is like and how you counter it.
yeah, thats a constant problem. you can use an anti glare screen cover that will help a little but the only real fix is a brighter monitor. some people still use the old green crt monitors because they are so much brighter then the lcd type. im not going to go that far hahaha
@@SteadiRed thank you for CRT-idea!😂 But It's too much for me (5kilo minimum)! I seriously think about black matte tube. Of cource it bad for angles (view) but it's work for sunlight! (Sorry for my bad English, i live in Russia)
I was watching one of crimson engine's latest videos ruclips.net/video/Jer6EZFZV4g/видео.html toward the end, there is a steadicam operator that has a low-mounted display that swivels and corrects itself when you go from low slung to upright. Could you tell me what that is and where I can find one?
Omg, I spent 40 yrs of life and never thought of that cling wrap monitor trick! I don't even steadicam but I'm stealing this idea!
This tips are very nice for working on the dust too.
Definitely!

this waterproof place is great..👍
Underrated buffet tip! Lining pockets with Saran Wrap 😂
hahaha
Thanks for responding to my other comments. You really make me feel like we are good friends 😊👍
You're welcome, thanks for the support 😁
"Even though it is the most waterproof like this, most DPs will complain." Legend. 😂😂😂
😁😁😁
Cool! I just finally got my arm cover that I ordered in Feb.
Nice! sounds about right. Is yours the same as mine?
@@SteadiRed It's a bit different I think. It is for an Ultra Arm. I have the G50 arm. Supposed to fit both G50 and G70 arms. Like the poncho too!
Come to Vancouver, we'll teach you how to really rainproof. We pretty much work in the rain from October till April every year!
hahaha, I'm sure you do way more of it. it's really rare for me. what do you do differently?

Lol your right it does look a lil crazy with the trash bags n the wrap but you gotta do what you gotta do to protect your gear. Nice tips sir!!
Most definitely
What about the heat from the exhaust port. From the camera?
i haven't had any problems with it but its a good thing to keep in mind

the wind is a problem for everyone. but the heavier the sled the more it will resist it.
@@SteadiRed Thanks, let's hope it going to be okay, the rig is certainly getting heavier :( need to find bigger springs.
what do you use on the gimbal Handle ? is it bicycle grip tape or a special tape?
it is tennis racket grip tape. i would definitely recommend it.
Won’t having this on the rig make it un balanced?
yes, if you don't rebalance after everything is put on.
Thanks for sharing bro!! nice hope can get one Steadicam like that too
Thanks for watching!
Great video man! Thank you so much
😁
Maybe a video about dealing with wind? (For none volt operators haha)
good idea! its so annoying.
Good job
Thanks
Much love love from GMS

thanks man!
Woooo i stun.. How can i hold that pro cam ang gimbal
😁
Nice tip! What about a bright sun? I can't see any thing on my monitor 😭. (Sunshade not working!)
Vasiliy Ivanishvili u can use screen protect anti glare, maybe not fit for ur monitor, u need DIY.

Good work bro👌
hahaha, should have thought of that
Yeah, but you broke the first rule of a steadicam operator, always look cool 😂
Hahaha, I'm not sure I'm the best representative of that 😁
Thank you 🙏🏻
You’re welcome 😊

I would be kinda scared of whole thing overheating :D
it hasn't happened yet but its a possibility
What in the heck happened to your left elbow?!
