Vedic system use numerals instead of glyphs because of something called the 'Kaal Purush Kundali', translated as 'Birth chart scaled according to the person who is the embodiment of time' aka God, Vishnu. It's the original and natural order of birth chart when it was conceived. It begins with Aries (1) in the first house and ends with Pisces (12) in the twelfth house. Kaal Purush Kundali will factor in when an astrologer attempts to triangulate your unique fate from all aspect. So, when an astrologer wants to look at a chart from the aspect of 'Kaal Purush Kundali' he simply locate the numeral '1' and make it the ascendant to determine one of the facets of the chart. Other factors include 'Moon Chart', 'Atmakaraka Chart', 'Bhav Chalit Chart' and of course the 'Varga Charts'.
