Sam, I used your video to fix the front of my camper, and it worked really well. I bought the material at a local home improvement store. I bought unpainted aluminum. Your measurements were identical to mine. I did use the method you showed using boards to bend the aluminum. My bends were not perfect, but in the end you cannot tell. The most important thing to check when using this method is to make sure the boards are straight and not warped. Excellent fix for a bad engineered situation.

I just had a chance to do some mods my new 12 SK and look things over a bit more after adding a battery and trailer brake controller. So having to crawl under I got a chance to see what things looked like underneath. Some wiring that needed to be dressed up, and every plastic wire tie they used, none had been trimmed to size.
Along the camp side I noticed pink insulation sticking out underneath, through the seal.
The front stone guard has a slight outward "V" crease at the bottom edge almost dead center of the guard. It also sticks out about 6" from the cabin at that point. It's stink bug season and I'm sure they've moved into that space.
Your video is quite helpful and will likely be the solution I use as well. I have a friend with a brake and I have some extra flashing that might be enough. Thanks

Sure thing you're very welcome. I'm glad you had a chance to crawl under it before you got to use it much. That gap between the sidewalls and the frame is just a disaster waiting to happen. That needed to be sealed from the factory but they just won't do it.

Thanks for this video. I am a newbie to Bushwacker...had mine 9 months. I was unaware of this house wrap issue. Where can I get a piece of alluminum?

You can pick up coilstock aluminum at any big box home supply. Drop us an email @ adventuresofthememorymakers@gmail.com and I can send you a drawing of the flashing.

Sam, I was able to mock up something using your guidance. It worked great. Still have to go in and seal it. But question for you. That exposed section among the side walls you showed us, what are you sealing that up with on yours?

    • @adventuresofthememorymakers
      @adventuresofthememorymakers  2 года назад +2

Jim, I used Flexseal black rubber sealer on mine, Proflex is good as well, and just made sure all that area in both corners behind the roof edge trim where well covered with sealer. It's hard to see in there so make sure you shine light in behind that trim and get a full coverage of sealer in those areas. If you leave one little area exposed water will find a way in.
Remember to seal down the sides of the frame where the sidewalls meet the frame rails and under your doors as well.
We also have a video posted on replacing the lower section of hurricane hinge to stop the leaks in the corners of the galley doors.
      More wacker videos coming soon!

What is the name of that material you used? I didn’t quite understand it on the video? Did you say aluminum coil stock? Something I can purchase at the larger hardware stores? I just purchased the same trailer about a week ago and I did notice that plastic under there it’s ridiculous I also have a leak at my water tank inlet it looks like they put glue around the flex pipe and the hose clamp so I can’t even tighten the hose clamp because it’s glued and it’s leaking so it looks like I have to remove the whole tank it’s totally ridiculous I actually wish I didn’t purchase the trailer now it’s brand new and I’m finding all kinds of little problems, and with tax and fees approximately $15,000 and I have to do all this work on it is ridiculous thank you for the video

Very sorry to hear of your issues with the camper. Sadly that is more the norm today than the exception.
That is correct, aluminum coil stock is the trade name for the material that use. I will put a Home Depot link at the bottom for you.
I highly recommend that you join the FB page for the Bushwackers. Great group of people who will help you however they can. It makes a nice little camper once you get all the issues fixed.
Just give me a shout if you have any questions.

@@adventuresofthememorymakers thank you for the info I really appreciate it, I purchased this trailer for my dog and myself to go up in the back country might go somewhere every couple weeks and will be towing it with my jeep but now realizing it’s really not waterproof there’s a couple creeks that I cross I’m concerned about that, but overall I like it it’s very comfy it’s pretty neat looking hit toes well behind my jeep it would be a great base camp for me, I plan on getting a portable hot water shower/heater and then it will be perfect I added a toolbox on the front but I’m just disappointing because I literally towed it home put it in the garage and I’m finding all these little problems with it but the water leak on the water tank it’s not good and where it connects they glued the flex pipe to the male fitting and they got glue on the C clamp which I can’t unscrew and if I torque it too hard something will crack so I have a situation with this anyway thanks again that was a really good thorough video

The water tank issue should be a warranty item. We have several other videos on Bushwacker repairs and upgrades you might check out as well.
@DIYOutdoorLife has a lot of Bushwacker content too.
Fortunately I knew what to expect when we bought ours, pulled it home, tore it apart, and made it what I wanted.
