    Craig, I have to thank you for helping me getting back into home brewing. Your videos are very informative and entertaining. I'm about your age, and I still have my Dad around....and thanks to you we are having some great times using your expertise to make beer and wine. Keep up the good work!

    Hey Craig At Brew-Dudes we are both regular all grain brewers. My system is decidedly over complicated with three burners a pump and a plate chiller etc etc. Johns process is still a simple cooler mash tun and on pot and one burner outside. Despite the different level of complexity, we totally appreciate what your doing. Brewing is fun anyway you do it and there's no reason to rain on anyone parade. Beer is beer in the end if its the way you like it. Cheers! -Mike

    By the way, at 32:00 or so you talk about people wanting to see you do "kit videos" when it's been done a quite a bit before... I, for one, have watched most of those of those videos in the last few days (as I get ready to brew my first batch in my life... I'm an engineer so I tend to over-study simple things) and your video was by far the best presentation of the process in a way I enjoy watching it, and your commentary made good sense and was useful. I'm ampped up to brew! So I think the reason people requested you do a video like this is because you're more fun to watch doing it, while being informative with comments that are actually relevant, compared to many home brewer videos. Just my humble opinion.

    Hi Craig I first watched your videos back in 2010 when I was interested in making beer at home, and your video series on making up the coopers and other beer kits was invaluable. Have had so much enjoyment from the hobby and though the first batch I made prior to watching your videos was terrible after taking advice from them it was a vast improvement. I’ve since moved on through BIAB and now I’m about 25 brews on my Grainfather. And seeing you on my RUclips feed I came back to see what you were doing. Anyway a lot of rambling just to say thank your Sir keep up your great work. P.s. I’m going to go to the store and see what the coopers kits are like now. All the best Matt

    Cheers for another great vid Craig.
    I mostly brew from kits due to time constraints but I add slight embellishments just for my own personal taste. I have recently been adding a hop tea to the wort to enhance the hop aromas and flavours, along with dry hopping in the pin. I have been thinking about perhaps making a vid (or two) on how I brew my beverages but have never plucked up the courage to even do it for personal viewing yet. I have a gopro but most footage has been from first person perspective on the road bike as I am a little camera shy (and I am fairly clueless as to how to edit any footage taken LOL).
    Keep the vids coming, they are much appreciated.
    Cheers
    Schnuz.

Now I've become more confident as a Homebrew and look for feed back from others about what the like and dislike about the beers I make. Lately I've made such a simple blonde ale that is awesome with key lime extract by amoretti. It may be 4.5 abv, buts it one that will have you come back for more.

    Hey Craig. Thanks for this video. Writing you from Winnipeg, Canada. Im just getting started in brewing. A couple questions though.
    All other things equal how will the beer be different if you brew with 19 or 20 litres as opposed to 23 litres?
    Secondly, why did you use three boxes of the coopers dried malt extract? My way of thinking is that one box would be for one tim of the liquid wart from the kit. Am I wrong? What does adding three opposed to just one do?
    Appreciate any help!

    Sulphur dioxide can be released by certain yeasts when there's certain mineral and nutrient deficiencies...or so I'm told!
    My brother made a cider once that reeked of rotten eggs - tasted fine if you're a hardened cider drinker but the smell was a tad off-putting.
    Sometimes it'll go away with time - chilling helps.

    Where can you buy Starsan? Do any major retailers like Walmart or Canadian Tire carry it? The reason for my question, is because my local homebrew store doesn't carry it and the stuff they sell, some powered chlorine crap I really don't like it. I've just been using unscented bleach instead, it works, but I know its not ideal. Is there another good sanitizing agent you'd recommend in lieu of Starsan?

    • @CraigTube
      @CraigTube  8 лет назад

      +Singing Toad Find an online supplier in your area and order some.

    • @singingtoad
      @singingtoad 8 лет назад

      +CraigTube Yeah, I guess that's going to be my only option at this point, unfortunately. Call me old fashioned, but I'd much rather support my local community small businesses, instead of some huge faceless online supplier. But, my local homebrew store simply doesn't carry this product, nor are they willing to order some in for me, so I have no other feasible option but to order online. Anyway, thanks for your help. Cheers!

      +Singing Toad I find it SUPER weird that a homebrew store won't stock star san. www.homebrewohio.com One of my local stores, not a huge business but they do online sales through their site and amazon. I recommend star san. I give you permission to not buy local for this especially if they won't order it.

    • @mneff69
      @mneff69 8 лет назад

      +Singing Toad Amazon sells it. But like you said you want to support local, I just typed in Star San in search and look for your closest brew supplier. There's a lot of them in the lower 48 if that is if you live here.

    • @CraigTube
      @CraigTube  8 лет назад +1

      +Singing Toad I'm all for supporting my local shops, but if I need something, and they won't carry it for some reason, then they know that I'm going elsewhere. Tell your local guys that you found somewhere online who will sell you StarSan and that it's the most popular sanitizing solution in brewing. Then ask them if they're sure they won't carry it. Then you know you did your best. StarSan lasts a long time. One bottle can last years if you re-use the stuff like I do. I actually can't remember when the last time I bought some was. Using a chlorine to sanitize and then having to rinse everything is a real waste of time. GO STARSAN heh heh heh.

    Hey CraigTube,
    I just found your video's, great stuff you've got here!!
    I am looking at getting an induction burner, what burner do you use??
    In another video I saw you using some OBK liquid malt, and you say that your supporting a local shop...must be nice to be close to OBK, I am down the 401 in the Kingston area.

    Hey Craig - where did you pick up these new Cooper's kits in Southern Ontario? I'm in your neck of the woods (Oakville) but can't seem to find the new ones - only the older pilsner - wonder if there is any difference?

      My local supplier is starting to carry them. These ones came from Coopers in Australia. I think you're best to wait until the new ones start populating shelves because getting them from Coopers costs a tun. I had to make special arrangements, and I also had to pay a duty when they arrived. I think they taste better, but these were also very fresh. It won't be long before you start seeing them all over. I bought a new English Bitter from Complete Home Brewing. He says that the other new ones should start coming in soon.
