For protoss it is very important to choose a tech path early on and understand the strengths and weaknesses of that path so you don't get caught flat footed in the mid game.

that terran just sucked HARD, not only clumping up on the forcefield but not even pulling back after 6 storms... this is a good example of Winter making fun of his friends
@@LeCheeZy even before that when he had the medivacs out of position and little more than 1 tank out there and a few units. But that's the advantage of the scouting Winter is doing here it can help you ambush Terran.
That select all army hotkey does more damage than good, notice how the medivacs just walk into death with no army to heal. Winter should suggest all new players unbind it.

@@shadowslicer9613 Seems alright: First game's race is a given. Then the chances of getting that same race 4 more times is (1/3)^4 => 0.01234567901 (1.23%)

at 47:00 with Winter talking about diamond, it really struck me. I was silver all through wol and hots (never played it seriously) and then I ended up played for a year every day. Well I decided to get good with innovations 2-1-1 from my time watching in HotS. While it isnt a cannon rush, I flew through the rankings often winning with those 16 marines, and then I hit diamond and fell flat on my face against people who knew how to not die to it.

I have been struggling a bit to become better after reaching Silver lvl1 / Gold 3 and have kept being promoted and demoted back and fourth and after hearing Winter saying maybe 40 000 times that unbinding F2 could help improve overall macro I actually took the decision to do it and boy was he right, of course it's super weird in the beginning but after a while it really helps you to see your units better and avoid just panicing and pressing F2 as soon as you get a terran counter-drop in your own base.

I'm Terran and my TvP sucks. So I've tried lately to make a widow mine drop against protoss but usually they end up out macroing it. The only strategy that works for me is the two base push. Any tips on how to approach the match up at +8 min? Diamond 2
Random d2 here.
About the mine drops, I suggest marine drops instead of mine drops as it both transition easier, and is a lot more consistent when I use it, and I die to marine drops a lot too. A toss can't "out macro" a marine drop as long as the terran doesn't lose the marines and doesn't screw up his own macro, and in d2 the drops WILL do damage unless the toss cut a lot of probes earlier than 5 minutes in.
As for 8+ minutes, range liberators+marines against templar (it's frigging difficult to play against with templar/archons being the priority target unless you have a lot of stalkers to buffer), and mmm+tanks against colossi (usually there won't be a lot of air/immo in a colo build, and you can just kite zealots forever with concussive shells). Anything else just kill'em with mass marines.

52:53 why is +2 attack better than +1/+1 ?
He mentioned on stream a few days ago that armour only really benefits immortals unless you're fighting vs mass marine bio or hydra/ling and since almost every protoss unit has a lot of base damage the ~30% damage boost that +2 gives far outweighs +1 armour. Something like that anyway!
Because you only want to survive marine shots more than killing them so they can't shoot as many times when you're zealot/lingbane heavy. No amount of armor can help with siege tanks, and if you don't kill the marines fast the tanks will shred you with or without armor. That, and medivacs.
Loving this as always Winter! This really helps entertain me, and almost gets me out of my shell to go out into the ladder of Starcraft multi-player, and play it.
Anxiety is a huge pain, and struggling to fight it off.

@WinterStarcraft is it worthy play in a slower speed to train and then rise it to fastest or it's better to just play fastest and try to follow the build orders? I'm struggling to keep up with the timing of things and muscle learning the shortkeys (moved from standard to QWERT). It so fast for me at this point that I can't pay attention to scouts (despite I send them) and I also do not yet read their strategy by looking at the buildings because my mind is trying to keep up with spending the resources usefully

I have noticed that your buildorders do not work bellow platinum level, people down there are way too random, you get lots of weird and/or half-baked rushes that screw your build or they just turtle themselves until they manage to build a blob of something random.
What about scouting?
If you have good basics than it wont matter cause you'll have an actual build

Hey, so I’m pretty bad at this game and was wondering why Winter places his bases alongside the map border. I usually tend to take the entire corner of a map when building my Nexus’ but Winter seems to take a “side” of the map, if you know what I mean. Could someone explain the reasoning behind this?

I just download the game 3 days ago, my APM is really bad about 100 and that is probably the spam atk move i do. Speaking of which I am practicing protoss, the easiest for me so far and when I go into micro mode I forget to make unit. I find it is easier to break it on Terran cuz I can just control group to make unit but with protoss I have to warp separate unit on pylon powered and I tried it few times and panic everytime. Any tips on training for this? Thanks a lot!

Probably for the transfer/waiting for gas. Not sure which since you didnt time stamp
16 is most effective, 24 is still effective, over 24 is non-effective (yes people did study those things)
im silver but ive found double oracle very effective... is there a reason its not popular in the very high skill bracket?
it's 300/300 that is semi-countered by most standard builds...?
pvp ppl open stalkers and/or pheonix
tvp ppl open either a lot of marines or a cyclone, always with a starport ready by the time the second oracle finishes
zvp people have queens as long as they're not sure what the toss is doing (if they didn't scout the toss' tech) or if they know air units are on the way (if they actually scouted it).

Btw: right now I'm chilling on silver XDD but all my oponents are high gold xD. I'm so confused, cuz I expect golds to cheese or go macro, but they don't tech like I do. Not saying they're bad not at all. But I struggle a bit and win. :P
Yeah Gold is a special League. xD I think in Gold there are the people who played a lot and therefore got better but still either dont have a plan on what to do or dont play to get high on ladder. Anyway focus on Macro and you will be Dia soon ;D
