The most important part of a slap shot is where the stick hits the ice. How could you not address this? This is main problem for beginners. They don’t understand that you load the shaft by striking the ice behind the puck.
good stuff, a good video to teach every hidden part behind the slap shot and what increases and decreases your power. thanks bro, wouldn't you hit the ice before the puck tho and even apply more flex before the stick hits the puck
Nice video!! Thanks!! I was having issues with my front skate position. You don't mention but notice how it shifts from start position (parallel to the other skate), and turns to end up perpendicular (pointing towards target). We also teach follow through- pointing the stick in the direction of the target. Thanks again!!
One thing they forgot and it is a key in the slap shot is to keep your skates facing the net unless you are taking a one timer if you and if you are taking a one timer keep your hips parallel to the net
Coach it’s that stick a low kick one right? What do you think about diferences in power in a slap shot between a low kick vs a mid kick stick? Thank you!
This awesome video is actually from Matt Jones over at WinnPro hockey. I do have a few videos on the slapshot though if you check my How To Hockey RUclips channel.
I couldn't get the slapshot down when watching this video. A local player at a S&P showed me his technique and maybe it'll work for newer players. The hand placement for me is almost a foot and a half from the top of the heel (way further apart). And you get LOW LOW. Hit the puck with the blade closed, at the tip-- and let 'er rip. Got really good results immediately.
Im a lefty and Ive been watching your video, I get it right on occasion. However, most of the time my lower left hand hurt so much from slap shots. Im not sure what Im doing wrong, perhaps holding the stick wrong.
I’m new to roller hockey. And I’m trying to learn the slap shot. I’ve been told I need the pick farther away from me. It’s uncomfortable. Is this right?
I had to watch this at work on mute and I have to say what a long video just to see that all you have to do is load up with contact on the ice flexing the stick before it contacts the puck. Good thing for fast forward.
I don't like the fact that he has his head down the entire time. And some point your gonna have to look in where you want to shoot. But overall a great video for helping someone Perfect their shot
It should... there might not be as much power because wooden sticks tend to be stiffer than other types of sticks. There won’t be that flex the he was talking about in the video but if you hit it hard enough, you should be able to generate some power :)
look at how early he pulls his top hand (right arm) in towards his body. I'm no expert, but I think that prevents him from utilizing the full force of the fulcrum created with his lower (left) hand. I would think he should be pulling his right arm in while he's pushing through the shot with his left arm and flexing the stick on the ice.
I was going to say the same thing. Right arm should be out a bit more to get more flex in his stick. His back swing is also way too high, but the narrator addresses that.
acidj4zz You will find a straight up and down backswing is common when time allows it for maximum power, going anything past that will over-extend the body though. Here is a good slow-mo of Patrick Kane to give an example Patrick Kane in Slow Motion it gets more power, but takes away time
The Hockey Movement I'm not trying to criticize the guy, but who knows... maybe we're making a breakthrough in shot technique that has yet to be discovered! It all started here people, hockey is about to change.
I think HOCKEY is still way behind golf. Watch Matt's lead arm collapse/bend as he comes into impact. Tremendous loss of power right there. More work needs to be done in the analysis of the slapshot. This cannot be correct. Also he leads with his head, relaxing the biomechanical bow of the body. Another loss of power.
"I think HOCKEY is still way behind golf. Watch Matt's lead arm collapse/bend as he comes into impact. " A golf swing does not work in hockey. I tell that to every six year-old. The puck is 3.6 times the weight of a golf ball, the stick is twice the length of a club and the head of the hockey stick is not weighted like a driver.
take it to 1.25 speed, so it's gonna be a normal video.
Wow thanks
Put it at 0.75 and he sounds baked af
Thanks
You're the hero I needed today.
1.25x sounds so natural to the point I think he slowed the actual video down during editing

@American Hero you must be new

As a Dman this is my bread and butter, I'm always looking for a way to improve it. Thanks Jeremy
Was not Jeremy
@@jotttis8680 yes it is
@@reneehardy4738 Description says it was Matt Jones from WinnPro Hockey, not Jeremy
But thanks to coach Jeremy anyways, for sharing with us!
Im a figure skaters who's trying to learn a thing or two about ice hockey (because i literally know nothing😂) these videos are really helpful.
The beat part was 10:00
Thx man 🙏🏼 1st year bantam and I'm a defense I have to get my shot right and this was helpful thx.

perpendicular, not parallel
parallel to the stance of the player is the same as perpendicular to the ice
oof big brain
good catch

Wayne Gretzky said that Peter Forsberg told him that Shea Weber has the cleanest slap shot he's ever seen.
Cool
Thanks, This video showed me everything I have to do to make a good slapshot. If it werent for you I would still only be taking wrist shots.

finally a video on how to take a slapshot by Jeremy. by prayers have been answered.

The Hockey Movement is this how to take a slapshot or how to improve slapshot power? because in the beginning it says"how to improve slapshot power"
Elijah Belmont
both really, by understanding the technique and doing it over and over your power will increase.

Perfect i try it the same way how he explain, it works great hammer hard Slap shot ...great video ..

I think you might be hitting the ground to hard.
Hitting with too much downward force but yeah both
I'll be Shea Weber in no time! lol
+Josh Peterson in your dreams kid
+Josh Peterson dreammmm
+Josh Peterson nice, furthest you'll go is in AHL as a fourth line benchwarmer
+Josh Peterson good luck!
weber's got a cannon man.. damn that guy can shoot it
Thanks for detailed explanation!
NICE! MORE!
Need to cover skate positioning and how far behind the Puck you should hit
Great job guys....really helpful video.
thanks jeremy you have a good shot
That's not jeremy
That wasn't Jeremy talking
hey that's at Dakota I play there same times in Winnipeg

What software do you use to mark up the video? Would love to use something like this for my coaching. Thx
I love your vids there teach me sooooo much

Dakota community center?
Mat is my dad friend
How do you get really accurate?
Practice practice practice
Look where you're shooting.

You'll find Patrick Kane follows a similar path in this video. Patrick Kane in Slow Motion

ilshockll we`ll start with slow-mo testing, analysis, and speed readings.
Looks like he bent his right arm just a bit early
fuck yessss so helpful

I thought this was how to hockey
The player isn't even looking at the puck
i dont think anyone lifts their stick that high anymore.. this isnt 1994..

Hey I was wondering if you would give me a shout out if I started a new hockey channel
