Six months later he is almost 20 pounds I can tell that the right side is weak, even though I have been working with him, and he still has some head lag/weakness. I didn't know this but if you have problems like this you can call the Shriners and they will look at your baby for free. They will treat him for free. The closest Shriners I have is Lexington Kentucky which is just about 3 hours away. Not bad. The parents have to call and make the appointment. They do not diagnose but they treat the problems. That's the best thing of all. I watch a zillion videos and research many topics about this so that I can help Rex. Spinex looks very promising and I am looking into scalp acupuncture. Wish I can find "Zhu's scalp acupuncture " but most of them seem to be in California Arizona and New Mexico. You use acupuncture with therapy.

premature babies are always champions I was a premature baby at the age when I was able to walk talk I could fit in holes only a cat or a skunk can go into so I played in those very dark places I was a real underground baby I be climbing in vents and make my fort's that way and plus it was only way I could just get away from my mom's sight
Mr. Chidori it depends. some have mental problems/ brain damage, bc it is extremely hard for such young babies to go through this, also really stressful, which is bad for the brain, especially when they are so tiny. (i was premature and do not have any damage.) but it probably depends how much you as a parent are around a new born as well and how careful you treat it.

My niece weighed 15oz when she was born. Her leg was the same length as my pinkie finger. They stayed in NICU for three months and got to come home at 4 lbs. we lost her 2x but she kept coming back. Looking at them you would never know she and her twin were micro Premature babies and only 10” long. This one was 2 ounces smaller so I can only imagine how nervous the parents stayed.
I had an older brother who was born prematurely if my mom had learned about this hospital he perhaps could have survived. The doctors didn't even tell my mother that she was pregnant and now my brother is gone. My mother had no body to take home and bury since they never gave my brother's body back to her, she was really distraught. Although I am so glad that there are people who are not giving up on such tiny babies, I root for you!!
Thats awesome story.....ive got to say thou there is a doctor in the er who prescribed me low blood pressure meds for low blood pressure and sent me home n i almost died thats a isolated case and i understand that every doctor is the same....im soooo happy your lil trooper made it....i also had my son rushed to the hospital n he was in icu n made it....so there is mixed feelings about this hospital
Wow! She started out even tinier than my friends daughter! Mini Mary was 380 g plus change. She’s now a mommy herself! The Doctor who delivered her delivered her little boy
sumon i have also a premature baby. when she was born she was just 1.2 kg. after she born immediately admitted to NICU. Thanks to Almighty God now she is normal and healthy. now she is 11 month and her weight is 9.1 kg.

don’t think that! everyone needs their time. you were just out of the womb early, but then you did the development just outside of it! you had a hard start, but that you have overcome it (survived) shows your strength. it’s something incredible and to be proud of!

Skin to skin is HUGE. I cant stress that enough. Not only in this case but alot of serial killers get interviewed and asked hundreds of questions and 90+% of them had mothers who abused them(negative touch) or ignored them and several in the double digits said the words "ya know I was never held or comforted as a child." Some are born with a defunct brain that never recovers like Ted Bundy. But a majority lacked having a caring mother. Its a very very very important role that a mother plays. They, mothers, have such a responsibility it has nothing to compare to it. You make or break a child and most mothers flourish. Sorry to take such a great story down a dark road but it was relevant with the mother aspect. I am so glad the doctor in their case was adamant on skin to skin. It has to do with connecting. Human to Human. Comfort. Warmth. Safety. It does wonders for the human spirit and willingness to push on.
