What's a piece of music that doesn't sound typical of a certain composer? Brahms' Capriccio in Bm op. 76/ 2 has always stood out for me.

When it comes to modern composers you should check out Sofiane Pamart. A French/Moroccan pianist and composer who blew up after collaborating with big names in the French rap scene before releasing his own solo piano albums. His 3 albums are currently the 3 most streamed classical albums on Spotify and he has won platinum and gold records for them. He was the first pianist to fill out and play in the Accord Arena (22,000 seats) and his music appeals to both people who've never touched an instrument and to classical musicians (he's classically trained himself, even won 1st place in his conservatory competition). You should analyze some of his pieces on your channel. I think he brings new life to piano music due to his style which kinda breaks the elitist stereotypes that classical music has. His first 2 albums are my favorite but all 3 are great.

I have the unconventional opinion in that I prefer a nice electronic keyboard to most acoustic pianos. The nice ones (not even talking about ones with built in actions) you can adjust the touch and brightness to get the exact sound and feeling you want. + I frequently play with the sound low either to not bother others or if I am listening to something else in the background.
I’ve considered getting an acoustic piano but I have no room for a grand and don’t really want an upright.

My uprights middle pedal is a silence pedal that I can use when I'm practicing while listening to the news or a podcast or something

I had this same opinion for 20 years until just a few months ago I was convinced by some smart people in my life to buy a good acoustic upright. There was a LOT of adjustments and adaptations I had to make in order to get used to the change, but I can confidently say I think my upright is a better instrument than any digital I’ve ever owned or played!

@@Zagginair I still play on acoustic pianos. I perform and do some rehearsals on a decently nice grand at a school I play for. But I still prefer my Roland F140R. I feel I have more control. Sure, it isn't as resonant, and wouldn't be fitting for an auditorium, but for my small living room, it's perfect.

I played piano by ear as a child. I'm 49 now. But I use to be able to Play the 1st movement 5 of " moonlight sonata " by beethoven. It's been 30 years since I've played it. I tried to re learn it. I do not know how in the world I ever played that with the octives in the right hand! How do you make your right hand thump and pinky on same hand use different forces? I want to relearn this song but I don't remember it this hard! I have not played piano. Since age 11. Do I just practice?
