So it's??? A few weeks until A Hat in Time has been out for a year??? And, well, it's easily one of my all-time favourite games, so I wanted to do something special for the occasion!! I've been wanting to do a remix for this game for a long time already, but never really had the inspiration for it until recently. I'm really happy with how this turned out, so I hope you guys will enjoy!!
Also, if you haven't noticed yet, the snatcher is my absolute favourite character in the game, and the Seal the Deal voicelines only have solidified that even further. Can you believe that it's revealed Hat kid commits tax fraud through him??? HAT KID COMMITS TAX FRAUD.

This mix specifically made me realize something brilliant about the Snatcher's theme I haven't seen anywhere else.
Everyone noticed the Heartache/ASGORE motif in the song... but I think I just figured out why it's there and why it's that specific one.
If the Snatcher was once the Prince... then it suddenly makes perfect sense that his theme borrows motifs from a tragic royal couple whose relationship was broken apart. What better tune to evoke the regrets of a broken king (or prince, in this case)?
I am so glad this remix exists. I somehow managed to miss that story implication the first time.

According to Habboi, one of the game's developer's, Snatcher used "ASGORE" as a placeholder song for the fight until Pascal finished "Your Contract Has Expired". This might be why.
My mind was blown while reading this. That's a spectacular theory.
"Alright, kid, how about I tell you... a story. MY story. Have a seat, because this... is a tragic one."
"Long, long ago, this forest wasn't what you know it is now. It used to be... beautiful. Green, with life, and liveliness, everywhere, really! And the best part? I could genuinely "hear" the Snatcher's voice in my mind while reading the whole monologue. This here... this is a treasure. Fantastic work!

I can't find a praise that wasn't already said in all these comments, and the video deserves all of them.
But I wanted to point that the blue fire in the drawing at first looks like pillars of ICE creeping around the prince and then as the transition goes it turns out to be FIRE from the Snatcher and it's so perfect sjkqkrknfvkmzmsltiw

I actually imagine Snatcher dancing to this with someone. Whether it was with Queen Vanessa before she went crazy,or a completely different girl before the two met,I just imagine Snatcher waltzing with someone to this.

...an AU of the Florist, perhaps? In which, when they were alive, they were good friends? But the Florist never confessed to the Prince, until after Vanessa destroyed the kingdom...and the Florist manifested a different undead form from Snatcher...?
(I'm thinking something along the lines of Jubokko, the vampire tree...could play off of the many thorny vines across Subcon; could even have wilted roses that brighten and bloom, after feeding off of unfortunate victims...but the Florist's spirit in the tree will need help to properly communicate, first-considering she and Snatcher may not outright recognize each other, without a mediating character...)

It's rare that I find a remix that so excellently nails storytelling. But wow, you an absolutely fantastic job with how this naturally builds, and how you combine it with your artwork and the story of the game makes it all the more engrossing. A simple scrolling up telling so much should not be possible. Well done!

DAMMIT HAT IN TIME TEAM! Give us some more official Snatcher lore already on his past. Sure we have the story, but you teased us with commentary through Death Wish, and now we want to know every. single. detail. 7th chapter is Snatcher's past! Make it happen!
Oh, and I loved the music. Especially the beginning and the end where it went all "old-memory"-like.
It will have to be the 8th chapter. They've announced that the next dlc will be about a metro based cat crime gang (with a Japan-ish title I can't pronounce).

The music and the artwork in this video is absolutely out of this world! It tells a story from beginning to end and it’s absolutely beautiful, the story might’ve had a bitter sweet ending but the visuals were absolutely gorgeous! It’s tragically beautiful and haunting! I love it

I mean, he had no blame at all at what happened to him, all he did was love an woman that was extremally jealous and even toxic to him and because of an misunderstanding he got left to rot on an dungeon until he lost completely his sanity and became murderous and reclusive, but after all he still loves Vanessa and don't want Hat Kid tp harm her so he forbids her to use her hats, but he still can't look his ex-lover in the eye, maybe he's scared of her or maybe he thinks he had blame on something.
I wonder if Snatcher still likes bacon, tho.

Thank you so much!! I did indeed make all of the illustrations -- except for the ones that show about midway through as an overlay of the main illustration. Those were part of the actual game and were done by Jenna Brown!!
Wowie, this is a really awesome video! Love how classical yet intense the remix is, and the artwork is phenomenal as well! The little animations at the beginning and end were also a very nice touch to this! Also wanted to say that the transition from the storybook to Snatcher now was really well done, especially with the effects and shift in the song to a more "ominous" feel! Wonderful work!

I found your video thanks to AeroShenpai on her discord and honestly, I do not regret clicking the video. Such a brilliant remix of Subcon Forest & Your Contract Has Expired mixed together to please the ears while blending the elegance and royalty of The Prince with the malicious and evil of The Snatcher for our eyes to enjoy. It just nails home the backstory of the lavish life The Snatcher had before he became the chaotic cynical character we know and how sad his story is. I also like the opening and ending animatic too. The Snatcher will steal the show on this time-bending waltz.

This song catches the dark beauty of subcon forest at least to me
It used to be a beautiful forest filled with mask wearing people and great royalty, but descended all because of vanessa's jealousy. Now we know who controls the ice tower but not the fire tower.
You could've just reused your old artwork of the snatcher for this video. You're extra for making completely new art for the sake of a video.

The beginning and end with hat kid finding and playing the phonograph is adorable, and the art that slowly scrolls up in the middle is breath taking and I ADORE how you fitting the time and even the videos particle effects to match with the image and music.
