I clearly remember this song back in early 80's, many people expected this to win the first prize but instead it won the second place. That was an annual music festival held at Cebu Coliseum. Very beautiful composition. . .
Very nice composition ‘Kaming mga Paradista. 3rd prize winner Cebu Popular Music Festival 1986. Mkalingaw gyd ning kantaha. interpreted by Edwin Umapas and Co.
THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE VISAYAN SONG, I FIRST HEARD THIS SONG IN ONE OF THE KARAOKE BARS HERE IN HONG KONG, WHEN A FRIEND OF MINE SANG THIS ONE. I AM CEBUANO AND THIS TELLS MUCH ABOUT THE SIMPLEST AND FULLEST OF MY BEING CEBUANO. PAYTER GAYUD MGA BISAYA. CEBUANO ROCKS!!!!
My.father used to listen to this song during my youngerr days gni naa mi long play nga plaka sa mga winners sa Cebu Pop Music Festival ato nga time ambot ug asa na kha ron hehe..I really missed all of those songs esp.kining Kabos nga Paradista ug the one entitled Pagmata na.. Ako.jud ning gpangita sa.youtube..
I am very proud to have a chance know the brilliant composer of this song that have lyrics of meaningful substance. It was the time where transportation today is not yet the one you can find in the streets of Cebu City. Please recognized the composer - EDWIN UMAPAS
The fun parada ride going to USP Mabini Campus is what I looked for everyday more than the afternoon ki dergarten class. Hahaha. Those were the days in Cebu. We need to continue this traditional style of transportation in the city for the new generation to experience sitting next to cavallo and kutchero.
diko kabalo ani kantaha ug dili tungod sa akong KUYA.ug mag tagay sila sauna nya mag guitar2 mao ni ila line up plus VST, APO,BOYFRIENDS pagka alegre..
@InkoIningwith no disrespect to the interpreters of this song, I beg to disagree with you bro. I was there at the Cebu Coliseum watching the 6th Cebu Pop Music in January 1986, and I was one of the audiences terribly wowed by Sharon Magdayao's rendition of her winning piece "Paglaum", which also captured the judges' heart for the win. And I would like to correct that this song was the 3rd place (not 2nd); the 2nd place "Bisan Wala Ka Na" was cleanly delivered by Dante Pagapulaan.
@rotzenALFZ1970 I recall my childhood days in the early 70's when my grandma brings me to Cebu City. There were only two choices, a PU minica or a Tartanilla. I think at that time there was no restriction and the parada can go anywhere in the city. In the mid 80's they were restricted within certain routes from Sancianko to I think Taboan. On my last visit months ago I never saw any parada. I forgot to ask what happened to them, are they still around somewhere in the city?
Morag mga 1990s wala na,inig gwas nko likod sa gate sa uv naa Ang mga tartanilla,sa may San siangko mrag tag piso rmay plete niadto parong ccc ug sa leonkilat
@rotzenALFZ1970 Thanks for the info. I stand corrected, my recollection wasn't that clear at all. So this was 3rd place. However I've heard lots of people saying they expected this song to win the first place specially in the Pasil, Sanciangko, Jungkera area were the Paradista ruled for maybe over a hundred years.
nostalgia galore... when the parada was the king of the road sa amo sa v.rama. thanks for the memories .
