I literally just left a small engine repair shop. Looked at this video. And it was just as I thought. The shop put my belt on wrong. I knew it but had to double check. Thanks.
Yep I did the same mistake twice on mine. Then I saw another video on how to install it and realized my mistake. When mine were burning they were still engaging the reel, acariest thing ever.
Thanks...I have an old Mclane 20"...My problem is that it doesn't shut off when the throttle is pushed forward. The throttle switch is "sticky", meaning it doesn't move smoothly. But I need to gun it at the engine switch by the choke switch, then hopefully something catches and it shuts down...What do I need to correct so that it shuts down with the throttle switch. Change out the throttle wiring? Do you have a video on how to do that? :)
I know that this may sound unbelievable, but if you soak your drive belt in 303 aerospace protectant, overnight, it will increase the belt's life by around 50% or more.
Could you explain how the initial setup between upper control rod and lower clutch control rod. I am yet to see how this is done appropriately. Thanks for the explanation on replacing the clutch belt.
I would like to better understand and see a video of the clutch spring replacement. For some reason, mine keep breaking on me after 3 or 4 uses. I realize I am doing something wrong.
Just recently purchased a new Mclane reel mower and on my 3rd use I ran i to the reel spinning as soon as soon started it.. could not figure out why and today I figured I’d use since it still cut and my clutch belt was shred to pieces. Can’t explain if this is related to how the belt was placed prior.. will purchase a new belt and reinstall.. hope this is the problem..

Dude please help. Ever since I got my mower (brand new), the blade spins whether or not I have the clutch engaged. It also rattles so loud, like obviously too loud, what’s happening :(
The picture showed belt 4L-195 which is the size on my mower (worn out). I'll be trying the 4L-200 that came with my mower before ordering the smaller one.

If I can't engage the clutch, is a bad/ stretched out belt a usual reason why?
