  • I tried decluttering my garage! Why is this task so filled with anxiety??? It's so much garbage which is easy to decide to declutter. I really should just pick a day and run through the house decluttering with a black trash bag before garbage night. I've been slowly decluttering my house like an onion in layers but I still feel like I have way too much stuff, so this is the fifth huge decluttering video going room by room through my house trying to get it to a manageable level for me and my household. Keep going! You did wondrful! Look at how much better it is already! Next quick tidy go out with a specific purpose. Like can I find all the empty boxes and put them all together or flatten them in a pile on the floor or put in recycle bin? Or another quick tidy, go out and only look for kids balls and bike helmets and put them in the gray tote by the back door. Then stop. Next tidy find all the gardening pots, dirt, hand tools etc and move to one spot. Then stop. Maybe another tidy just identify the groups of things on that table. Or put them into like categories. Maybe one task could be hanging a short hook bar by the garage door and hang up the rake, shovel broom etc. You got this. Just go out with a specific task in mind. Do just that focused item then done for day. Maybe write out a list of all the groups you need to gather and put together. You already have suitcases, gardening, kids bikes, yard tools, kids balls etc. It can only get better! Look at how much you accomplished already! We’re rooting for you!!! ❤

    The most relatable declutter video I’ve ever seen. Thank you for keeping in your moments of panic and overwhelm, I see myself in those moments. You did a great job pushing through and motivated me to tackle my own garage.

    Aww I felt your anxiety! But you started in exactly the right place by getting the obvious trash out.

      I was feeling the anxiety all over again just editing this. Definitely need to make more of an effort to declutter from now on.

    You started. Thats always the hardest step. It'll get there at your pace. Keep uo the good job. Even little steps are steps closer to completion😊

    You are inspiring. It's obvious you have no help dealing with this garage and it is overwhelming. I have inherited my mothers home and i am having a hard time cleaning it out by myself too. I can relate to the feelings and frustration of not being able to get it done when support is needed. You just started and faced your frustration single handedly. You have strength to do it and have inspired me to go clean my parent's basement today, and I will face my emotions with courage following your example. Thank you❤

      @Carina_Rose I have a complete pick up truck load to go to the dump. The garbage can is also full. It really isn't that bad once I got going on it.
      It made a dent in it. I will just keep going every weekend.

    New subscriber. You knew to start with trash. You stopped when you reached a good stopping place. I look forward to being inspired by you whenever you make a new video.

    I can see how it could be overwhelming when it’s your stuff, but as an outsider, it really doesn’t look that bad.
    Starting with trash is great.
    Next I would go through all the loose items that are on top of stuff and neatly line containers and bigger items along the wall as you go to make it less visually overwhelming.
    I’m only a couple minutes into the video so let’s see.

      The most overwhelming parts are definitely just starting and in the messy middle. The trash bag is my friend for sure!

    Thank you for sharing how much you were struggling so we know we are not alone in finding it so difficult to declutter. Nobody should have to tackle a massive shared space like that alone though. I'm curious to know if you ever got back to it and had any help.

      So sorry for not replying sooner, I thought I did but it was apparently just in my head. :(
      I did get the garage under control! My husband came out and helped me a couple of times. We do still need to work on organization, and a few things still need to go off to the thrift store. :)
      I’m ashamed to admit that my family did offer to help me but I wanted to make the video so I wanted to just do it myself. I’ve since set some boundaries for myself regarding making these videos so it shouldn’t get this bad again. :)

    I heard once that once you put it in the garage from the house it goes to die. Once I stopped using it as my dumping ground and just getting rid of items it changed everything.

    You made a huge dent. It’s going to be easier when you have some systems for storing things. Like shelves and racks.

    • @Carina_Rose
      @Carina_Rose  6 месяцев назад +1

      I'm hoping I can get one of those garage shelves from Costco this year. I think it'll give just just enough storage for seasonal decor (mostly Christmas), without giving us so much storage that I feel like we can just store more things. I'm really trying to minimize my home. It's just going slowly and uses a surprising amount of brain power.

    I really liked the way you wound up the extension cord! How did you do that?

    • @Carina_Rose
      @Carina_Rose  6 месяцев назад

      I’m not sure how to explain it other than it’s kinda like crocheting, but your hand is the hook. Way back in high school I used to help run the sound for some of the vocal jazz groups and that’s the way I was taught to wind the cords so they don’t get tangled. I remember seeing a video on here a while ago of a guy showing 2 or 3 different ways to wind cords and this was one of them. I’ll comment back here if I find out a name for it.
