  • Confusion took over the hearing as Lord Pannick pointed out an interview with Jacob Rees-Mogg on the Today programme but it is in the wrong place.
    The three-day hearing includes appeals on three separate legal challenges of Prime Minister Boris Johnson's plan to suspend parliament for five weeks.
    Lord Pannick said the PM sought to “silence Parliament for that period because he sees Parliament as an obstacle in his political aims.”

      @@arniethesofa Because Parliament is openly attempting to subvert the will of the people as expressed in the 2016 referendum (ie leave the EU). If Parliament was truly trying to be representative of the will of the people, they would have jumped at the offer of a general election which would have truly given the people the obvious choices of Tory/Brexit parties to leave the EU, or Lib Dems to remain in the EU, or Labor (under Corbin) to remain under EU control in the single market and leave in name only.

      I unluckily live 30mns away from Westminster. I have never ever protested or striked in my life, but as a grandfather of 6 boys who lost family members fighting for this country not to be ruled by a foreign power, nothing on earth will stop me protesting and doing whatever I can to help with civil disorder if Brexit is not delivered without a fair or no deal. Government's rarely listen unless its costing them money.

      If you watched the entire hearing, the QC for the government did almost the same thing. There are thousands of papers, documents, articles that are all referenced in bundles, it is easy for anyone to make a mistake.

      Lazy (well paid) idiots. One could implement a procedure to check all documents in the court case before each session or court case starts. It could even be done electronically and very quickly, using checksums etc. and would detect ANY difference - down to a single word or letter difference, let alone page number difference. They obviously don't care, and are probably paid by the minute or second, so the longer things take, the money they all make.

If you believe suspending parliament will affect brexit in any way then it should not have been suspended, the pm should not be able to suspend parliament on a whim for his own political gain. If the choices parliament makes when they're allowed to vote doesn't please you then they are other issues.

      A friend of mine(a Cambridge 1st graduate) was in a jury and while by law he was not allowed to give me any details - he told that that the whole thing was an awful experience and told me to avoid jury service at all costs.

    Why is the Judge apologising for the mix up with the paper work, I watched for quite a while until I lost my patience, and turned off, I believe after the that shambles I would have dismissed the case, and tell them to reapply when their mess is sorted out. If I was sitting on this case, also as it is not a Law case but Political it,s out of their jurisdiction.

The Police the judicial system and the political branch cannot interfere with each other. For any court to sit in judgement of political manoeuvring is a betrayal of democracy because the magistrates are not elected and have no mandate

    Given the sheer volume of documents involved and in various formats, together with the speed this had to be put together, things like this are likely to happen. It's an unprecedented complex case, can't wait to hear what the Court thinks of the arguments - that's what's going to count.
