_...One makes an effort to abandon wrong view and to enter upon right view: this is one’s right effort. … Thus these three states run and circle around right view, that is, right view, right effort, and right mindfulness._

Would 1st Jhana be the equivalent of abiding in Rupa bhava? Seems a logical conclusion as you are withdrawn from the sensual realm. Which of course means you have right view which informs the directionality of your practice towards Nibanna. Many thanks.

Banthe! It is nice explanation. I wonder that if one who has entered the 1st Jhana , has he same mind qualities such as joy, pleasure ,unity while he is going ,walking, or sleeping so on?
No, those qualities can be found when we are in the Jhana but you can feel mental & physical joy for few minutes after you stop being in the Jhana......
If you watch at least the first 6 minutes of the video you'll have your answer
There is an afterglow that will be with you for the rest of the day
Bhante, how come the Buddha is able to dissolve into first Jhana when he was just a kid (MN36) ? Did he has any meditation teacher then? Also he was living in the palace without much seclusion and sense restraint then right? Sorry for so many questions! 😅
@xinyi, I don't think 'dissolve' is mentioned anywhere. Jhanna can be confusing if you have read many sources on it, but it is really simple mechanic once you can do it.
Most people has experienced the 'effect' of the first three jhanna, the question is if their mind can generate this effect without sense object
@SuperNoone89 From this talk by Bhante, my impression is the time of seclusion (both mental & physical) and sense restraint should be sufficient long enough.
@@karrimzz 1:38 mentioned 'dissolve'.

This kind of dissolving is what we will experience at the time of death.
Here an excerpt from sutta MN9 “Right View”:
_The passing of beings out of the various orders of beings, their passing away, _*_dissolution_*_ , _*_disappearance_*_ , dying, completion of time, _*_dissolution of the aggregates_*_ , laying down of the body-this is called death._

The absorption he had when he was a child was caused by a natural disposition made possible by good previous lives. He was already on the path.
