Dear Gormo, love the additions to the Bamford scenes! Absolutely stunning how the three terraced houses add to the atmosphere and depth of the scene. Marvelous how you added the water tower and its retaining walls, awesome how the wall goes further as a scenic divider for the cattle pen. The scenic value of the gate, the repurposed goods van and the access path to the water tower make a small scene pop. Love the effect of the footpath next to the repurposed goods van going down just slightly in front of the backdrop. That little is just enough to create that illusion of a world behind the adjacent walls. I’m almost done with the superlatives, but for a wow on the photo printed tunnel portal. Very interesting how its location is suited for this kind of experiment. Cool to see how you added some more layers of backdrop trees, which really extends the vista towards the tunnel portal. Will look smashing when this area is further populated with some 3d trees, brush and other scenic elements. Love the vid. Looking forward to seeing your next episodes. Cheerio
Thanks Pete, Yes it was a late decision on the cottages. I was going through my piles of stuff that I have accumulated over the years and here were the cottages..??? I thought I`d give it a go and it seemed to work.? All the best Gormo
Hi Gormo, really enjoyed your June update, love what you have done and will look forward to the finishing touches. The extra trees give the scene a more natural look as you would get in real life. Cheers Greg
G`day Greg, Thanks for your comments and yes we are still moving forward......the additional trees etc. will finish off the tunnel and cutting. All the best Gormo
It's looking better and better every time you post. Love the tunnel mouth and the trees really set it off. Great work around the cattle dock and ingenious idea for the water tower to get the scallops. Keep safe Frank
Love that water tank Gormo. I`ve just finished assembling my exact copy of that. Just primed it and getting ready for upper coats. Thanks for the tip on masking the curves. My hands aint that bleedin steady to achieve a good straight line. Lol. All the best from an Englishman..
Again some nice improvements, perhaps an ideas, at the tunnel entering you put a cut out bush in front of the tunnel face, some bushes (Islandic moss) in front of that photo would give it some more depth. And what disturbed me a bit is the gap between the mountain and the track base, is that something you still need to work on? But over all lovely layout…
G`day Danny and thanks for your comments. No need for concern as all the issues you have mentioned will be dealt with in due course. I just have not got there yet. All the best Gormo
G'day Gormo, Nice update. 👌 I had no idea you have not ballasted or added a tunnel portal in the back corner. Then again, I haven't actually looked into the far reaches of that corner of your layout ! Thanks for the shout out again. Cheers, Gary.
G`day Gary, No worries. Next time you`re over, I`ll give you a little step up so you can peer into the back reaches of the layout......hopefully it will be finished by then. Cheers Gormo
All looking good. Those Dapol kits keep on going don’t they. Has to be about 40 years ago at least when I brought my first kit although they were Airfix back then!
G`day Ken, Yes I have done a full railway tour with the camera car years ago, but it was in it`s early stages then.....all looking a bit bare compared to what it is now. It`s probably time to do an updated version All the best Gormo
¡Hola buenas tardes Gormo! Some great additions to Bamford and, love the use of the tunnel portal overlay. Seeing the driver’s eye view was great (what make and variant of camera have you used?). Sadly, my recently acquired action cam is too high/wide to achieve any meaningful footage around the layout. Looking forward to further updates. As ever, stay safe and well. Un saludo. Gary
G`day Gary, Thanks for your comments. The camera is an el cheapo off ebay. It`s a TOPO Sport DV.....it does 720 and 1080p. I had to shave part of the retaining clip off to get it to clear on my railway. All the best Gormo
G`day, The low relief is just an image I down loaded off the net some years ago. It is simply just printed to the correct scale and then cut out and then glued to the background. I think if you check out Scale model scenery....it may be on their site..?? Found this on ebay www.ebay.com.au/itm/291520443153 Cheers Gormo
G`day Jim, Well yes, but that`s the price you pay for removable buildings.? This layout may have to be abandoned in the near future, but I will take most of my buildings and fixtures with me to start afresh.....that`s the logic behind it. All the best Gormo

G`day Martin,
Yes painting it free hand would be difficult....that`s why the masking helps a great deal.

G`day John,
Yes there are still plenty of the kits to choose from.
I have some wagons and coaches still yet to be built from Dapol.

Thanks for sharing your layout, Gormo, have you thought about doing a full layout tour using the camera car?

Hi Gormo - it all looks great. How did you do the low relief terrace houses….i would like to do the same on my layout

Where any/all structures aren’t fixed to the surface properly, the gaps show and doesn’t blend with the rest of this beautiful layout.
