GREAT how to vid! I often make springs in the same manner. Perfect video for ANYONE who from time to time finds themselves digging thru their parts bin searching for the right spring. Maybe the average person would only make 1 spring in a lifetime but, knowledge IS power and I'm sure they might have a friend in the same predicament that they could pass the knowledge onto. Thumbs up!
Cool video indeed. The screw driver a nice idea. You nearly gave me a heat attack using your hand to reel it out but you seem to have survived. Liked and subbed no hesitation.
Thanks for the link. Your spring seems to work well..... returns to it#s position. I ve just order some 0.6mm wire. Can you give a link to the better wire you mentioned? Will the 0.6mm work ok? What dia. is do you recommend? Also can you make a torsion spring for us? Thanks again. A someone below said the video was nice to watch. Keep going!!
0.6 mm should work well. Out there are gray steel and black steel, but sometimes hard to find on eBay. Only finished springs. For the recommendation, depend of what you need, how stiff, which diameter, length, and so on. I think I can do torsion spring, which is actually the same procedure as this spring, only with lesser turns, and probably thicker wire. Small amount of turns actually make torsion springs. I will do my best to make another video on it. Thank you for reminder.

Yes I can see that. Thicker wire, fewer turns.
What is the best stainless steel for springs?
By your voice, I think you might be Dracula. ;)
Just kidding, great video, thank you.
Are you a retired engineer?
