You sold me on it. I have been using the cutting with gas, settling 6 months and triple filter wound cotton cartridges for 5 yrs now. Costs me $50 per barrel to process and I believe your setup is cheaper. I finally have a free oil supplier so it's time to step up my rig. Processed 12 barrels last year and have twenty ready to treat now.
Yes thanks for the discount, I'll try to put a order together, still working out the details, I'm in Canada and the shipping, duty at the border and money exchange really ups the price lol, thanks for the good videos
@@NotSoGrandGarage Nice people! They answered my questions and handled my order in a professional manner... Your videos are the best that I have seen on the subject and are the reason I placed my order... Thank you again!
I haven't had any failures but spare seals would be about the only thing that could fail short of hard parts like the motor or heater. I don't forsee a motor failure or something like that being common. Seals are cheap enough so might be worth while to throw spares on the order.
New on here I’m enjoying this content. I’ve been planning to do this for about 15 years but never seem to get around to it. For the centrifuge how many gallons can you process at a time before requiring cleaning the system?
I clean the bowl between runs but it typically isn't required. Just depends on how dirty or wet the oil is. If it has moisture in it, it can fill the rotor in a single pass which is 50ish gallons for me. In most cases, there is just a thin layer on the walls of the bowl though. If you're thinking about getting a centrifuge, check out www.notsograndgarage.com. I also offer transfer pumps, parts, etc. Thanks for watching!
I'm currently running wmo in my 7.3 idi with excellent results. I'm seriously considering this centrifuge set up. My question is I also have a 7.3 power stroke that I would like to run wmo in but I'm worried about causing more problems than it is worth. Any advice or personal experiences would be much appreciated.
From people I've talked to, the 7.3 powerstroke drinks the oil fine but a centrifuge is highly suggested. I'd still run dual tanks but some don't. I know plenty of people running them on oil though with good results.
I ran thousands of gallons of this stuff through my 6.9, 7.3, Toyota 4 cylinder, Ford Ranger 4 cylinder, Saved a ton of money. My 24 valve Dodge Cummins did not like it. Even running it lean coked up the injectors.
Greetings from Finland. Have you had any trouble with injection pump pressures? I ran waste oli in diesel generator until injection pump pistons had to be replaced, because it would not start anymore. Local pump guy said it is because tiny soot particles in the black diesel.
@@NotSoGrandGarage that is good to hear. I stopped using black diesel, because I did not found that nice separator you have running. I had just normal fuel filter. And some gasoline mixed with waste oil. Your video got me thinking again off grid possibility with black diesel.
That would explain the failure. Most fuel filters have a nominal rating of ~ 15 micron and an absolute rating over 30 micron. A centrifuge filters out to under 1 micron. It isn't the soot that caused it as soot is roughly 1/10 of 1 micron in size typically... but it was likely wear metals that just where not caught by the filter. WVO ships all over the world. If you are in a position to go with a centrifuge, I would for sure. Otherwise, look into filter bags. That will be better than standard fuel filters. I've got videos on those too.
Just ordered mine today, website says heater is back ordered until march 30th. Hopefully that slow boat from china gets here a little faster than that.
Lol.. well I think the heater itself is made here and they've always been an issue. 2 years ago when I got mine, it took a few months for me to get the heater. I've found them from other sources (the same element).. but they are stupid expensive.
I'm curious, has anyone used a unit like this to recondition used oil for reuse? I know this topic is a bit controversial and while looking at the old toilet paper roll filter videos, many of those users never actually change their oil, only add more when they change out the filter roll. They say oil never loses its lubricity. Plus you would have to separate oils by type etc... It seems it could be useful for folks with a lot of big equipment. As usual, I've got to pick your brain. I really want one of these units but I'm not there yet...
I know for a fact that some outfits use it to recycle hydraulic oils and such for continued use. Would I do it with engine oil? Probably not without regular oil analysis. When ever you are ready... if it's past the 30 day mark, drop me a line.
Would 50/50 or even 75/25 work in a DEF deleted 2012 sprinter or 1.9 TDI? Thinking of buying for my 5.9, but being able to run in my sprinter would really improve the economics.
It depends. I have no personal experience running common rails on oil but I've been seeing a lot of chatter about it here lately amd there are quite a few claiming it's doable and works well. I most definitely would suggest a centrifuge for that. Are you planning on a single tank or dual tanks? On a single tank setup, I wouldn't run more than 50% on any engine although I've heard of people getting away with it. Not sure how as its always given me issues.
@@NotSoGrandGarage Planning on using your code and doing the 6000 centrifuge. I was just watching your dual tank videos. I'm building a k30 Quad Cab with a 5.9, and can incorporate a dual tank easily. On the common rail, even a 25% WMO would make a difference. We just did a trip from Detroit to San Antonio in the sprinter to pick up another project. Cheapest diesel we saw was still over 4 dollars. Most of Michigan is well above 5
@@Thesocialgarage I've heard of a few people running duramaxes and such on blends... they use similar pumps and injectors. I don't see why it's not possible but there's always risk. Do you recommend purchasing any replacement parts up front for a WVO centrifuge now that you’ve used yours for a while? Seals, bearings, etc.

Looks like your p trap is galvanized steel? Just learned it don't mix well with oil /fuel. Might want to research. Great videos! Thanks
Hmm.. I'd heard the same about copper but not galvanized. I'll look into it.
What would be good to use as the plumbing if the steel galvanized isn’t a good mix?
@redimix08 black pipe, brass, pex, etc from my understanding. I've not had any issues with the galvanized yet though.
