I literally lol’d when you mentioned your internal struggle about being Arab and being white. I’m half Iranian and yes, the struggle is real. You have to mark white as the race on federal forms and for the most part based off of my physical features, at a glance, I think I’m treated as white with all of the privilege that comes with it. Yay?! But then if you see my name or I’m trying to board a plane (lol), you definitely feel like an “other” and growing up in Ohio this was especially true for me. Especially being there during 9/11. (I’m in Brooklyn now.) Whiteness, race, is such a social construct and I think all middle easterners struggle with where we are and where we want to be in the realm of it.
Smh.
But are you an Iranian with Arab heritage? Less than 3% of Iranians are actually Arabs, not to mention you have a Persian name - so you may actually be whiter than you think, and your white heritage may reach back further than most other white people in America (with Iran being the cradle of Indo-Aryan cultures and all) - you could be missing out on a bunch of white privilege you never knew of!
I totally understand. Especially being a young Arab child when 9/11 happened. It was then I learned people might not like me simply because of my race.

If you were in PA I would say Sam's Club. My husband just came home with a bulk bag of them last pay. We found out our son who also has autism has same medical issues with his stomach I do that caused me to have to go vegan. He was the last family member to start going plant based sensory wise he fought it and his Dad sat down told him if it makes you feel better eating like Mom why not eat like Mom and not hurt your stomach. He agreed to try it out if his Dad could find the Gardein Crispy Tenders Seven Grain
and found the bag. Got him to try avocado toast today by putting the avocado and let him put his own topping choices on as well. He loved it and he made with me this weekend Berto's Chick'n Parm he made in one of his videos. Diaya cheese was on bogo here so he grabbed two bags and the chick-less chicken he needed. So far he's enjoying experimenting to find what he likes. Took him having school at home due to the virus to see things I normally wouldn't to ask questions to find out his stomach hurt if he ate other things but when he ate my vegan food items or plant based it didn't hurt him. He already was allergic to a protein in milk his body can't break down but he didn't know how to tell us sensory wise I don't feel good. Ready for the virus to be done but one blessing came out of it was seeing how my son's body was reacting to what he was eating since we're going through teenage time of I'll eat what I want till now. He also told me to say thank you to you and Berto for both of your what I eat in a day it's given him ideas of things he can make or try.

I do not know if you have Sams Club (similar to costco's) I saw a Jumbo bag of the Gardein 7 grain chicken tenders go and check them out. I believe BJ's and Sams club have better options then costcos when it comes to Vegan options. I have had memberhships to all 3 and BJ's and Sam's club are my favorite. Between the both they have everything Costco's has and more.

Can I suggest that you bring reusable containers and utensils on your expeditions? Old rectangular takeout boxes nest conveniently and the fork/knife/spoon/mini chopsticks can sit inside. I've been washing and reusing the same 3 containers for almost 10 years and they work perfectly. Not trying to be negative but we need to be refusing extra stuff whenever possible at this juncture and I know you guys get it. You could inspire so many people to reduce waste! Thanks as always for the great content!
You're right! I used to bring re-useable utensils but lost them and forgot to get new ones. As for containers, restaurants aren't allowing that yet due to covid but ill start again when it becomes ok!
@@bodegacatx Awesome! Love that you do that. Pro tip: you can get metal utensils in packs of 10 for like $2.00 at dollar stores. As you probably know, knives are usually too long to fit in most containers so you can do the Asian method and cut with the spoon, haha. Take care!

The thinv I hate about being vegan are the overpriced prices like veges grow from the ground are way cheaper than animal meats/products. Why don't people stop being greedy and change prices so people who are meat eaters will be attracted to vegan foods.
I get what you mean, but I do think there are more factors that complicate it. There's it being more of a niche market and also more labor going into a lot of vegan food that happens to drive prices up.

Brooklyn is definitely more fun. But the subway can take you everywhere! So move to a place you can afford first and foremost

Well, it was more like 2-3 meals. From a restaurant which isn’t supposed to compare to cooking from scratch. But yeah, it was still a bit pricey. But not as outrageous as you’re making it.
