Chorus:
When we fell in love, you made my heart drop
And you had me thinkin' 'bout you non-stop
But you cry 'bout this and whine about that
When you grow a pair, you can call me back
Yeah, I think you're hot, I think you're alright
But you're actin' like a chick all the time
You were cool and now you're not, just like that
When you grow a pair, you can call me back

Many people are calling the song sexist and transphobic. I think what they lack is context: the song is about kesha dating a guy with a sexist fragile masculinity and basically an asshole. So to insult him, she uses what hurts him the most, sexist and fragile masculinity insults (“you seem to have a vagina”, “you act like a girl”, “you don't stop crying”, “when you grow a pair you can call me back” etc. ) to emphasize how idiotic it is for being that way.

it's just a play on words of about shitty relationship. Not transphobic or hating on men.
The song literally talks about her breaking up with a man for being emotional and saying he's a girl for crying.
@@asexualicon1006 yeah its a bit fucked 🧍♀️
nah listen i hate men (half joking) but even I KNOW that this song is totally hating on men. the entire thing is about how hes "too sensitive" and complains and "acts like a chick". men who are in touch with their emotions, are sensitive, or kind often get a bad wrap. And get called shit gay, pussies, or girls. Which goes into a whole new thing about anything emotional-related always comes back to women and their periods. Everyone always wants to hate on something.
@@asexualicon1006 not just for being emotional and crying

As a woman myself, I can totally agree that a lot of woman are annoying like this and since her preference is men, she doesn't want to be with a man like that. Growing a pear just means grow up, act better, be brave. Ya'll are literally talking about a woman who was one of the first major figures in feminism, LGBT ally, and just embracing differences. Just because there are trans people that feel uncomfy with the lyrics doesn't mean anyone is trying to "cancel" anything, you guys are so quick to call people sensitive when they speak how they feel.
I think you are right. This song is very old and I think Kesha would not want to hurt trans people. This just a very bad example of ageing of things.
It obviously does not mean that you can't feel uncomfortable with the song but you have to know it is not what is it about
I'm a trans man and I fucking love this song. I have more issues with the misogyny, but I'm pretty sure it's meant to be ironic.

I’m a trans guy and I don’t think this is offensive at all. It’s a great song!

I just love how her voice is awesomely techno style or whatever
I LOVE HOW I STILL MEMORIZE THE LYRICS TO THIS ALBUM AFTER ALL THESE YEARS
This is not transphobic, as many of the (trans!) commenters in this comment section have already pointed out. It’s about her relationship with a cis-hetero man who’s acting whiny and immature, and she’s telling him to stop being a p*ssy and grow some b*lls. Not everything has to be about trans people, and this song has nothing to do with them.
And even if she DID mean the “dude with a vag” line literally (I’m pretty sure we can all agree it’s metaphorical though) she’s allowed to have her preference. She’s allowed to be attracted to penises instead of vaginas. I’m pretty sure she supports the LGBT+ community, but just because you support someone doesn’t mean you owe them sexual attraction. You can be supportive of trans people’s rights without necessarily being attracted to trans people-you don’t owe anyone sex or attraction in order to validate them. It’s totally okay to validate someone with platonic support, with no sexual element involved.
i agree that this song isnt transphobic bc its not about a trans ppl but if it was then it kinda would be 🤨just bc some doesnt want to date a trans person it doesn't mean that they can go around saying "ew I would never date a trans person"

I don’t think this song is suppose to be transphobic or sexist in anyway. I think she’s just saying how she’d rather date a manly man ? I’m sure she didn’t mean it to sound sexist or anything
Sis literally said "one day you asked if we could just talk and that sent me walking" and then she sang about how she just wanted him for sex even though its supposed to be a relationship to him - that's not wanting a manly guy that's just turning into exactly what shitty guys do, which in her mind she probably thought was a feminist move but its n o t✨
@@emilyb8063 Feminists are terrible, I know she's a Feminists but at least she's straight forward. Loose sex is common, and nothing wrong with that which is what's being described in this song. What she really meant was be brave, almost. Or be the bigger person, most likely because her ex was whining about her all the time and not focusing on themselves and how to better themselves to her liking and to theirs.
If i see anybody saying "well it is transphobic because she says grow a pair as in if your a trans man with a vagina i hate your guts" i will delete my comment because it obviously offended you in some aspect.
