The idea behind the Fallout world is the "Atomic Age Future" envisioned in the 40's and 50's is what became "modern" day so while the war at the beginning happens in 2077, it still has a very mid-20th century atomic age vibe to all the tech and decor - but you have futuristic stuff like atomic powered cars, etc. The games were the same way.
@@TheWorldsOkayestUSMarine OK Humor is subjective, but most ppl can see when someone's an asshole. Think about that before typing your next response....
Different timeline starting in the late 1950s. 1969, the United States was divided into 13 Commonwealths instead of 50 states. Atomic power lead to great technological advancements in one way, but culturally the world got kinda stuck in the late 1950s and certain technologies didn't really develop (like the transistor). By 2077, the War with China began. 2019 years after that is when THIS Fallout show takes place, but the various games took place over the previous hundred or so years. Fallout 1 took place in California (and will be referenced heavily through the show). Fallout 2 was on the border with Arizona. Fallout 3 was Washington D.C. Fallout 4 was Massachusetts. Fallout 76 is a quasi-canon game that violates a lot of the Lore of the other games and takes place in West Virginia somewhere in the middle of all of the rest.
I just binged the whole season. It's my favorite game franchise of all time, and I couldn't imagined it turning out better, can't wait for the next season already(Spoiler next season is New Vegas!). Glad to see you reacting to this. I wanted to see how someone who knows nothing about the game, would like it.
Just found your channel for the Fallout reaction. Can I just say, what you have going on in the room behind you is FREAKING FANTASTIC! I don’t take it lightly, that was a lot of genuine design work and I am honored to see it. Beyond that, you are very candid and authentic and that is what I am here for. Rock on with your beautiful self, you are an inspiration ❤🎉🥰
Can't say enough about how they captured the vibe, look, and pitch-dark humor of the videogames with this show. F*cking brilliant, and the twist in the finale will spin your head 'round. 9.5/10, this is some fantastic TV.
Fallout began all the way back in 1997 with Fallout: A Post Nuclear Role Playing Game. In terms of the lore the Ladco77 did a great job at summing everything up. Alternate reality that diverged sometime during the 1960s giving birth to a retro futuristic world that maintained a very retro 50s/60s aesthetic into the end of the 21st century. The Red Scare never really ended and by the 2050s the world fell into a Resource War. The European Commonwealth fighting the Middle East over resources, Canada is Annexed by America in 2059 and the Sino-American War between China and the United States breaks out lasting from Winter 2066 to October 23, 2077 when the bombs dropped. Timeline: Fallout - *2161* (Southern California) Fallout 2 - *2241* (Northern California & Nevada) Fallout 3 - *2277* (Capital Wasteland, parts of Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia) Fallout New Vegas - *2281* (Mojave Wasteland, parts of California, Nevada, Utah, and Arizona) Fallout 4 - *2287* (The Commonwealth, Massachusetts, Boston) Fallout TV - *2296* California and Nevada) The Vaults in the series are very cool, Fallout 1, 3, and 4 all features us actually playing as Vault Dwellers who for whatever reason have to leave the Vault on a quest similar to what you see in the show.
Katie, the Santa Monica Pier is the end of Route 66, you can add another achievement to your repertoire, You've been to Route 66. The next level of that achievement is to be to the other end, which is in Chicago.
They did kiss goodnight, but if you look closely you'll see how almost obligatory it looked on Louis' part. But you can also see Armand linger and look at him as if he expected or wanted more.
So many Fallout game references are spread through the series. The wrist computer Pip Boys, the instant medical kits called StimPacks, the mutants, the conspiracies of the vaults, the BOS power armour suits, the thumbs up...all part of the game. Just wait until you see the 1950/60s Cold War movie references in later episodes.
Now you are young, to those of us growing up during The Cold War that intro is what we feared would happen- every day. But we lived our lives. When I teach my The History of The Cold War classes, I always start by showing them a five minute video of nuclear explosions with eerie music, to make your generation understand what it all was- and what you will have to get used to again with Putoloni's sabre-rattling (though he is too much of a coward to do it). About the "Wild" cars. The game is set in an alternative timeline, where the transistor was never invented, so everything used vacuum-tubes like early computers. And thus the timeline starts diverging from ours in the year after WW2, and progress is generally much slower. But there is also no Cuban Missile Crisis, Long Island, etc, and no reckoning with its past, so the US carries on in a sort of Truman-Eisenhower Superamerica with nuclear powered cars, etc. But in the 21st century fossil fuels and other resources starts running out, and The Resource Wars starts; where Europe, Africa and The Middle East is torn apart, and China invades Alaska to get the last remaining oil resource on the planet. And in 2077... Boom. And oh yea, the US turns authoritarian semi-Fascist, a bit like Starship Troopers. Anyway, think of the game and series as set in a sort of retro-futuriatic post apocalypse, IE a future as imagined in the fifties, but then add a nuclear exchange of superpowers.
I really loved the first episode, it gave me chills. The uhh concept of a 40s, 50s world with futuristic buildings was pretty cool, mutants, vault residents having 0 idea of how the world outside used to be how strong people were.
I'm glad you decided to watch the show, as a hardcore fallout fan that's been through all it's ups and downs, this show is absolutely amazing and I love almost everything about. I also like your Linkin Park tattoo. R.I.P Chester

I know you are mainly a reaction channel, but after you are done with this series, maybe give the games a chance? Good shit as always :)
Fallout 4 is my most favorite game and I thought the show was great, but I wondered if anyone who never played the game would like it. 4 people at that watched it really like the show. I saw 2 guys reacting to the show on RUclips then you came up. I really like watching your reactions.

Fallout lore is very old and there is so much to learn about the world. Unfortunately, some of it makes no sense at all. This is what happens when so many chefs work on a common story. Nevertheless, it is my favorite fantasy world. And a big advantage of this world, you can tell any story. cowboys, aliens, crime, social coexistence, horror, religion everything is possible
I hope you get into the lore of this show and play the games. I feel like the fallout universe would be something you really enjoy. I know I will enjoy you watching/enjoying it!!!!
You should consider playing Fallout New Vegas. It has Mathew Perry and is considered the best one by many. Every game follows someone different so the order doesnt matter.
0:40 all right since you’re new to fallout I will tell you everything you need to know! Fallout is a video game series from the 1990s or actually no early 2000s or whatever. The story is a different timeline from ours. After World War II, when the allies drop the bomb at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the world awaited Armageddon instead, they started using nuclear energy to power their entire civilization. This began robotic butlers, fusion powered cars, portable computers etc. Along the lines, oil became a huge, massive shortage, becoming the resource war, which short the Middle East was completely wiped out with nuclear weapons Which everyone’s fighting for resources now which leaves NATO To Disband! America had the last remaining oil things which led to China raging war against America. During the war, America started preparing itself to save the population of American citizens, in case of a nuclear Armageddon. And started creating vaults capable of with standing a nuclear holocaust! China started firing nuclear warheads at America in America America start firing back. The other countries of once NATO fired their missiles too. And the whole world just burned. The people that survived in the vaults lived either normal, lives or suffered the worst, not knowing what lies below awaiting them… Factions arise, and the most famous line comes up It says war war never changes You come from and one day you’ll be set out to rebuild America ! Though some vaults have their own agenda. If you want to experience the fallout series. I recommend you play fallout three and fallout new Vegas . Don’t worry about fallout one and fallout two. Those games are really old-school.
As far as weddings that ended in disaster, still not as bad as mine. I ended up married to my ex-wife. Wasn't great for her either. (Note we were pushed into a marriage too soon by religious dogma, because we had already done stuff. Neither of us were bad people, it was just a bad situation)

retrofuturism
IIRC, part of the history is that they never invented semiconductors which split into their Timeline
Tell us again, nerd.
There’s a late Art Deco style called Streamline Moderne. The aesthetics of 2077 Fallout are totally in the Streamline Moderne style.
The beginning when the bombs drop is one of the most creepy feelings I've ever had, the silence, the panic, the look on Walton Goggins' face, etc.
