Thank you for uploading this, I couldn't hear too much of the response because it began to make me angry. To hear such FLAWED LOGIC in response to the great question you posed to them is maddening. I mean, the priest said "Because they're making us vote on it, parent's have a right to lead a tranquil life without all these problems". Doesn't the idiot understand that it's their intolerance that it causing the problems?! I mean, as to say in the 1950s... cont.

The pastor is right about one thing: It shouldn't be a vote. They should make gay marriage legal by law.

Thanks for calling this program. Generally, religious programs merely attract like minded people, and rarely are cogent dissenting views ever offered. We, as secularists, must burst their irrational bubble with facts and sound reasoning. I love how you brought up how similar the rationale was, which was used to argue against interracial marriage, decades ago, with the rationale against same sex marriage today. Its the same bigotry.

I just read your most recent comments. Marriage IS a legal contract at this point because married couples receive governmental benefits that would otherwise be denied. This makes marriage a purely secular institution which, like all other secular institutions, must abide by the Constitution. The 14th Amendment promises equal protection to all, and that promise cannot be kept if marriage is restricted such that gay individuals cannot marry without violating their natural orientations.

I like the attitude you present. U do notmcome off as a know it all high brow and you genuinely "ask" a question. This way they will keep taking ur calls and u will get heard!

As they are answering they disconnect you. They don't give you a chance to refute anything so you have to push out your argument in full while your on.

Low US birth rates are nothing to worry about; in LDCs, we see significant overpopulation. Besides, do you really think that legalizing gay marriage will stop procreation?
"The only thing I worry about is the growing lack of privileges, given to families to balance out the economical disadvantages of procreation+raising children." But not all married couples have children, yet they get tax breaks. Claiming someone as a dependent on your tax report is independent of whether you're married or not.

Thanks... I want their listeners to hear the other side of the argument. I have them on speed dial now and 3 more calls to post soon.

I like that they said gay marriage challenges christian freedom because the chaplains who refuse to marry gay people are going to be stigmatized. What about the gay teens who kill themselves because they are stigmatized by their peers and afraid to go on living a life that is 100% natural. Christians aren't persecuted like that. Never would be by rational thinkers. I think gay rights shouldn't be an issue. We are all human beings with a right to live happily and comfortably.

The service sector economy, automobile transportation, and longer lifespans have also affected the foundation of our society. Of course gay marriage will affect our society, but I predict that the change will entirely be a paradigm shift. The federal legalization of gay marriage is inevitable either way; as the moral zeitgeist becomes increasingly progressive with each generation, the paradigm shift becomes more pronounced and society changes accordingly.

"Whether we agree with you or not, having someone like you calling in, that you feel safe and free enough to call in ..." The fuck? I hope it's not just me who thinks this, but the fact that they had to clarify that to begin with is curious...

I haven't made any rhetorical tricks, I just told you how it is.
"the dangers of devaluing normal marriage," you said. The implication is that "normal marriage" has more value than "gay marriage," which according to you would serve as grounds for preventing gay marriage. This would violate Amendment 14.
"We already have low birth rate problems," you said. Er... no we don't. Kindly tell me your source for that statement.

The Catholic priests notion, that bringing up a change in traditional social structure is not for democratic consideration (2:00 - 2:31), is a silly argument. Many societal changes were brought about democratically, or through a representative democratic process. Based on this priest's logic much of the rights guaranteed to minority groups should not have passed, because that also went through a democratic process that changed long held "traditional norms".

I am very familiar with this program, I listen to them often and they never hang up on reasonable, uninterrupted, in-control callers. Your sensibility must not be in checked.

Sooooo??? If it doesn't apply to you and you are upset that "they" are "making" you vote on it couldn't you just not vote on it? Like you come to that part of the ballot and say, "oh that measure doesn't affect me and I am offended that they are even asking me to vote on this so I'm going to just skip it and choose not to vote". See how simple that is???? The solution is always really really simple. Stop making it so damn complicated.
