Great video. I really like seeing details of your projects and you showed a lot of them.Excellent. I think it's above and beyond what many others would do. Love the fact you prime above the windows and door jams.
I am a maintenance painter and just started into this trade for about 7 years now. I want to take the time and say thanks for all the tips because I don't normally paint houses and all your videos have helped out a lot! I am doing a house now and I have been watching your videos to help me along the way! It has really helped out! Thanks again Bud! Looking forward to seeing more if your vids! Keep up the great work!
Chris I’m curious can you paint vinyl siding? I’m not sure if it’s cost effective to just replace the vinyl or paint faded vinyl siding. Thank you for showing prep work! You have plenty of application and product videos but would love more preparation videos. Thanks for all the help
Hey Chris. I like that peel bond stuff and I'm trying to convince my boss to use it but he is all about exterior oil primers. He says the waterborne doesn't block the tannin from coming through, especially on cedar, like an oil does. I'm sick of using nasty oil.
I've painted my house 2x. Upper half is stucvo lower half 10" boards. I'm painting lower half this month. First i wash it. Then i scrape iff the peeling paint. Sand it. Primer coat. Then 3x paint coat. Lasts 8 - 10 years b4 i need to do it again
Good info, thanks Brother. Do I use a Sand Eater for 1940's bumpy style stucco. or would that jus tare the sand paper up. Also what's the type of compound called that I would use to seal cracks and chips in the stucco? Can you recommend a good exterior pain that is durable and last. Thank brother, stay safe, stay healthy, stay blessed.
Great video Chris! What was the approximate square footage of this house? with everything that you guys caulk approximatley how many tubes of caulk would you use? Thank you have a wonderful day.
Hey boss, I just started on a painting crew, the lead dog said he wouldn't let me paint until I became really skilled and fast at caulking, sanding, and puttying. Do you have any videos on Caulking and how to make it look better and faster ??? As well as sanding and puttying ? Caulking is the task he stresses most right now.
Bro so today i used the 18 inch roller and I gotta tell you that thing is a beast 3 of my cut men couldn't even keep up it was so funny they said it was a cheat roller. So thanks again for introducing that roller to me
20 yrs ago Hardie did not offer painted Hardie Plank. I painted with Duron and a brush. Past time to paint again. Wash, prep and put on new paint....or do I need an acrylic primer coat?
Hi Chris, Just wanted to be sure about one thing, would you just paint over all the areas you caulked and leave it there? Or do you use it as masking in some areas? Seemed like you were intending to leave it there. Nice job as always, the music was a bit loud at points as I'd turned up my audio to hear you speak then got surprised. Thanks for the tips!
Chris seen your mug shot in the sherwin-Williams pro mailer. Congrats! This video reminded of something that haven't heard from you I don't think? Do you do repairs? (Carpentry) We do a little of everything which gets us a lot of repeat Work from our regular customers but if you main focus is painting. Does that just slow You down? What's you take on this? Thanks
Any advice on estimating exterior painting? Would be greatly appreciated... I am a new painting business and having a bit of trouble finding an estimating system that is easy and accurate . I am out of Massachusetts and lots of exterior jobs have a ton of paint scraping
I’ve seen some people use a spray to seal in paint that is chipping. Is there a spray to seal and hold cracks and chips so it doesn’t spread or crack after the new paint is on?
Hey brother, how are you? I'm wondering how much caulk I should get to paint a 1500 sq. ft. exterior Jim Walter home (You probably don't have Jim Walter homes where you are). Never-the-less, is there a formula you use to do estimates on that. I always enjoy your vids, thanks, Robert
Question. Between my house and shop, I have 2300 sq ft. Older 10" lap siding. (One story but, I live on a slope so, the back side of my house is basically 1-1/2 storiesish if that helps. Definitely going to have to get a 20' extension ladder) I used to paint cars for 7 years so I totally understand that good prep makes for a good paint job. Now, my question, how long would it take your least talented caulker to caulk that much SQ footage? Give or take a day. Btw, I hate painting houses. Lol. However, this is my first house I've bought and I'm not big on half assing stuff. Especially when I am going to be out this much $$!! I sure hope you reply. My real job keeps me pretty busy so I have a very small time period to work with if I want it done this year. Thanks in advance.
A couple of things , didn't you skip the pressure washing as a first step, and how are you able to keep clean lines while caulking using that glove I would assume it would Gunk up overtime even if you do wipe it with a wet rag,my next thing is you calking all of the nail holes when caulking shrinks wouldn't using exterior spackling that doesn't shrink make more since and you should really think about getting a dripless caulking other than that my friend you do a great job lol
Besides appearance, is there a compelling reason to caulk where the soffit meets the fascia? I also notice that you didn't mention caulking where the frieze meets the soffit. Are there ventilation issues to account for? I guess I could caulk the fascia/soffit joint, merely to prevent water from getting up there the next time it's washed; otherwise, I tend to caulk only the frieze/soffit joint, because I want the fascia to be able to drain from both front and back in case of water intrusion. Am I wrong here, or is it a preference thing?
+The Idaho Painter Ok. I figured you had already accounted for any drying-and-drainage contingencies in the cladding etc. And of course you did, because you guys are top pros. Thanks for the vids.
What’s the name of that caulking? Will it shrink ? Is that caulking you use good for the bottom of the garage frames close to concrete or will it shrink / crack
We are making changes and eventually will not be answering any questions on RUclips, but we are directing people to the private paint life members group where other painters in the community can answer questions. It will be a closed group on Facebook. Feel free to check it out! facebook.com/groups/2305219262837596/
I had the hardest time caulking the the house, the caulk was everywhere and I tried cutting a smaller opening on the caulk and then there wasn't enough caulking coming out. I had to keep changing my gloves and I had to have a bucket of water to wash all that caulking off. I made a big mess. I'd rather build a transmission. Where did I go wrong?
My window were replaced with aluminum frame windows but they used an yellowish caulking when the house windows and trim is white. What’s the best way to fix that problem? Thanks

Do I need to pressure wash first. I’m in 10 year old starter home. All of us neighbors are painting. Not one hired crew appears to pressure wash. Some diy guys are pressure washing first and claiming the hired crews aren’t doing it right? Also, I didn’t see u remove caulk, is that rarely necessary? and THANK U!!!
@@DanielAlvarez-un7gb for caulk, it's easy to wipe-up before it sets. but best to not drip any. I rarely ever have a caulk drip. Just wipe up with a wet rag.

Is caulking the rough woods affects the paint in period of time?

👍. Bueno
How much did it cost to paint this house trying to get ideas so I can paint mine house
Do you recommend power washing or dry wiping to remove dirt/dust from existing siding prior to repainting?
We pressure wash that it

Chris,
How would you paint dormers? I have two that are part of the upstairs and I'm worried about over spraying on to the roof
Mask and use drop cloths
im caulking EVERYTHING IN SIGHT
What’s the name of that caulking? Will it shrink ? Is that caulking you use good for the bottom of the garage frames close to concrete or will it shrink / crack
I would like to know myself but he never seems to answer anybody's questions
So much caulking... Thanks for the info!!!
Does anyone find it weird the guy hiding in the bush😂😂 like what relevance was that to the video 😅😅😅😂😂😂😂
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
How long did it take to caulk that house?
Hello paint life. What guage is the extension cord that one of your worker's are using for palm sander?

Do you not power wash the house also?
Why did you use a paint brush to apply primer instead of a paint gun? Wouldn't it be faster to use a paint gun?
Less about calking and more about taping up windows.
How do you figure out the price for painting a house ?
I had the hardest time caulking the the house, the caulk was everywhere and I tried cutting a smaller opening on the caulk and then there wasn't enough caulking coming out. I had to keep changing my gloves and I had to have a bucket of water to wash all that caulking off. I made a big mess. I'd rather build a transmission. Where did I go wrong?
Takes practice, make sure you wipe the excess caulking off with your finger or rag
Using Behr exterior flat with primer mixed , do you recommend a primer coat under that ?
We do not usually use primer unless it is new construction, paint and primer mixed is highly not recommended.
Thank-You for your reply .......

How much it cost to repaint a house ?
Would you caulk before or after the pressure washing??
After

go over it.

Paint Life TV thx!
Hi my name its marco canyou provide de name of caking you are used for please tank you
Do you powerwash the house first?
Same question what if the house is dirty?
yes, clean (pressure wash and/or TSP) first
Do you have to sand the excess caulking that you leave on the nail holes?
That's what I was going to ask
You can't sand caulk. The excess you see is necessary for the caulk to hold because of shrinkage.
What kind of caulk did you use?
It looks to me like Sherwin Williams 950A. You can see the second bottle of it in his back pocket.
Great video, Chris. His name is Gamo/Gallmo? Not sure how to spell it.
MisterVargas Is probably Guillermo
Where is good old senor combo these days?
dam you look like Bruce Willis
lol
What is up w/the 2 obnoxious cut-in clips on this video?
good video, ima guess his name is Jose.
So close
Jesus?
how many tubes of caulk for an average home?

Chris, where can we get a hat like the one you are wearing in this video? I don't care for the trucker style hat.

What sizes and how much? I would need a L/XL.
What kind of siding is this?
LP
I wish i could hire you guys but i don't live in Idaho.
