I have Polychromos, Prismacolor, and the 120 Crayolas! Believe it or not, I like the Crayolas. Although not as pigmented, I can blend them and actually use them in conjunction with my more expensive sets. I use them for backgrounds and then supplement with th PC’s. I also use them on pictures I don’t care a whole lot about to save my expensive pencils. Great video!
The color escapes are my FAVORITE to color with. I bought one and my husband bought another. So I have two. I also love the signature tri color. Crayola has another line of colored pencils. It’s not the same name. I can’t think of it right now. They are all manufactured in Brazil I think so it could be entirely possible they are using the same factories.
This is so timely. I bought a 100 pack not realizing there was a 120 to add to my collection and to use on coloring books that don’t have great paper. (I want to save my nice pencils for those projects with good paper.) Thank you for doing this! 💜
I love the 120 Crayola set! It is one of my favorite pencil sets. You need to swatch them all, there are some beautiful colors. Add the new Colors of the world pencil set and the total is 144 colors. I haven't tried any of the sIgnature sets yet. They always seem a little overpriced to me. It seems for the same price I can either get the same amount of a better product or more pencils in something that looks comparable.
Thank you. This was a great comparison. I agree with Steve that comparing tools of equal price makes sense though. I don't understand why we would compare a .17 pencil to a 2.00 pencil. Other than the joy of swatching:-). I see reviews on Amazon comparing crayola to Caran d'ache for example.
I have the Crayola Signature 50 count colored pencils which I purchased for $44 from Fred Meyers and love them. I have had no issues with sharpening them. I also have the 100 regular Crayola colored pencils which I absolutely hate and never use.
I’d pay an extra buck or two for the “adult” line. Not more. $15 for 100 pencils sounds awesome to me! Hey, I’ve still got Roseart and Colorific in my collection. From third grade. I’ll use them all!
I have the 50 set of the Signature pencils and I sharpen them with the Dahle 133 crank sharpener with no problem. I also have the Color Escapes 72 set and the 120 original set (yes I’m a pencil addict) I prefer the Color Escapes personally even though they aren’t being made anymore. I do think the price of the Signature pencils is too high. Great video! ❤️ Hadassah
I had the signature Crayolas but they constantly broke when I sharpened with my Kum sharpener. At least 10 with the 50 set. And the real problem is that the signatures cost a fair penny more than the regular Crayolas.
I think I have to say this is the first time I’ve ever disagreed with your opinion on some thing. I absolutely love the Crayola blend and shade pencils I’ve think they are so creamy they’re much more pigmented they just lay down so nice and I really enjoy coloring with them. On the other hand the original Crayola colored pencils I do not like coloring with at all they are hard they hurt my hands to color with them you don’t get any color pay off in my opinion. It was really nice to see how you felt about them. I loved the video even though our thoughts differ.
I agree completely!! I have the 24-set of the Crayola Signature Blend and Shade and I have zero issues with them. They lay down so smooth and pigmented, blend wonderfully, no scratchiness, and they're WAY softer than the ridiculously hard regular Crayola colored pencils. I just read somewhere in the comments section of another video, that the Crayola Color Escapes are the same formula as the Signature, so I'm on the hunt right now researching that claim. I've been wanting to buy the 50 set of Signature, but the Escapes have a 72 set, so I'd be psyched if they're the same!!
You should try the Dahle 133 sharpener. Best ever. Similar to Carl, but doesn’t bite and automatically stops when the pencil is sharp. Also, adjustable point length.
The “ beautique” 711050 pencil sharpener is the BEST I can jus crank prismsa color pencils in there, not at all being gentle n they never ever break in there. Don’t know where to buy it though, as I stole it from an old bf yrs ago😜
I purchased the 150 set from my local Walmart. The per pencil cost was only 15 cents a pencil. I probably won't use them much though. I have so many sets that are more enjoyable to me. The grandkids will love having the color variety when they visit.
Thanks for another great video, Jennifer. I always enjoy watching your comparisons. You do a thorough job when you're comparing pencils. That's so much better than just coloring and comparing. Thanks for that! I love that you and Steve work together. That's so nice. Your pets are so sweet! Is your chinchilla new? I agree that the Crayola signature line is a bit too pricey. The increased pigment is very nice, but that's not enough for me. I still love Crayola's classic line, and I'll continue to use them--alone and in combination with my Prismacolor and Castle Arts pencils. I love all of them.
Thanks for comparing and sharing your opinion, I have the regular crayolas and the prisma colors as well. Love the prisma colors. Great advice! Thanks again!
I mixed my Crayola Signatures with my Arteza. They work nicely together. I think I have a 48 set of the signatures. I do feel they are kind of difficult to sharpen, no matter what sharpener I use.
I am brand new to coloring and and I had asked about these pencils on the video last night 4/24/24 where the castle arts, markart , arttx, and another set I can’t remember at the moment. Then this video showed up in my feed today. I purchased the Crayola Signature blend and shade 40 pc set that has 13 of these pencils. Now I know not to waste my money on the 24 pack.
Jennifer I am having a hard time blending and making my projects look realistic please give me tips and tricks I have a hard time controlling my pressure
Jennifer Stay have you done a comparison between Prisma Scholar and the Signature pencils yet? I'm definitely curious about that comparison as I have a grandchild who loves coloring and art.
Thanks for this. I recently bought the Crayola 120 pack just to have a lot of colors, and I’m not an artist and colorist like you. They are fine for my purposes (coloring an anatomy coloring book), but I was a little disappointed that there are so many colors that are quite similar (like the greens), yet there’s not a really good basic blue-red color. I had a sharpening issue with at least one, and I was using the Kum sharpener. Just my novice two-cents worth.
I wish crayola had never set so much as a toe into the idea of the adult coloring market. Instead, I wish they could have marketed the original products to the people in this way. "Maybe you're four, or maybe you're 74. But you'll find Crayola is a great place to get started on your art journey." something like that, and just sell the products that were already amazing to us to begin with and keep the original philosophy.
Since you asked about the Crayola signature line, how about trying out their brush pens? Compare them to the Tombows, the Michael's cheaper version of brush pens, maybe the Ohuhu pens.
Crayola has surely called the core "gel" because everyone and their mom are falling over themselves to snap up more and more gel pen sets on Amazon. I'm surprised they are not made of "glitter gel." LOL
You can't buy Crayolas in the shops here, but I'm very tempted to but a set on Amazon. They look like a reliable brand, nothing too fancy, good price/quality ratio, does what it says on the tin. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Wonder if the 'gel' core is formulated similarly to a gel crayon (like Gelatos, or Distress Crayons)? They did appear creamier and possibly more waxy than the kids' pencils.
„His name is Carl - and oh, he bites!“ 😂😂😂 had to laugh about that comment a lot when I heard that the sharpener is called Carl. I really thought you gave him the name but then I discovered that the name Carl is actually written on the sharpener too😂
You cannot get the 120 set in the UK. Out of curisosity I looked at the price on Amazon...item in dollars 29.94 - not sure what the sterling equivalent is. Shipping 93.49. I fell off my chair in shock! I have a soft spot for Crayola - the first pencils I bought when I got into adult colouring in 2014 a 50 set. I have the 50 set of the Signatures - only swatched them - but they were nice. I have battled with myself about the 100 set and eventually decided to buy them. They are coming from Amazon Europe which means they will not arrive until next Saturday. I also have the 24 Colours of the World - not opened yet - delivered this week and it was alomost like a search for the Holy Grail to get them! I am going to wait until the 100 set turn up and swatch them and the 24 set. I will enjoy doing it becuse..well what is this all about really - just enjoying the experience of something simple when you can just lose yourself and forget about everything else for a few hours.
I have the Staedtler pencils sharpener like your Karl but NO bite marks on the pencils, I have all the 50 signature and 120 Crayola found this interesting. 😃
I’ll be interested to see an actual breakdown of the ingredients on this because if we are following this line of thinking, then should we also think that Polys and Goldfaber are same but just different barrels? Caran D’ache Supracolor aquarelle and Caran D’ache Fancolor? etc...
Beautiful colouring, 🥰🥰 interesting combinations, I have the Dahle 133 similar to Karl, but the Dahle does not bite my pencils, neither did the Staedtler which I had first. I have the Crayola 120 but didn’t buy the other set because I saw breakage on other channels as well.
They also have a watercolor sticks like the neo 11 an they have Watercolor brush markers with Arteza Watercolor brush markers. Those both would be great to see a comparison's of
I was watching Lucy just adds colour video on Ideen mit herz water soluble crayons 36 for under 14 pounds, on Amazon UK, they won’t post to Australia and I checked Amazon US and Amazon Australia they don’t have them either! They are cheaper than the Caran d Ache ones by far and react beautifully, I wonder if you would be able to find them or should we check out Amazon Germany? As they are a German made crayons.?
I have Prismacolors and Crayola's, and some metallic Faber Castile and honestly my favorite are this strange non branded neon 8 pack I got at the dollar store 😩🤦. I've dropped a few dollars on my pencils and I'm most happy with the dollar store
I recently watched your gel pen video and I am wondering what i should do i havent even finished coloring the picture I am working on and I am already out of ink what should I do the pens are quite expensive
Oh no! That is so frustrating when that happens. Without seeing the page, it’s hard to give specific advice. If you don’t want to purchase more pens...I would suggest getting creative and being bold...use some striking colors and make it obvious that the change in media occurred...maybe the flower is transforming in the spot into something else. Your the artist!! Second bit of advice...I have a playlist here on my channel that teaches some great tips on gel pen coloring. Some of the tips really help stretch the gel pen ink and make it last much longer. Good luck! Have fun! Don’t give up!

I don't think the Signatures are comparible to Prismacolors, but they're still a good pencil. The Signatures are much better than the original Crayola pencils. I use an M + R sharpener, and none of them have broken, and I'm putting a normal amount of pressure on them when I color. The Signatures have a smoother laydown, have more pigment, and they're easier on my hands. In all fairness, of course they'll have to be sharpened more and we'll go through them faster. The same can be said about Prismacolor or any other soft pencil. Also, pencils are usually tested on one kind of paper (usually the good stuff), so it doesn't show how they perform on other types of paper which are commonly used, like Amazon paper, Creative Haven, etc, etc. I agree that the original Crayolas are better for kids because they're tougher and can stand up to the way kids will use them. The color Escapes suck! I returned them. I love their tins of the Signature soft core blend and shade. I have the 50 set and I love them! They are more pigmented than any other Crayola colored pencils.
*Totally off-topic, but Rose melts my heart. She was sleeping and wagging her tail like crazy at the end of the video.*
I have Polychromos, Prismacolor, and the 120 Crayolas! Believe it or not, I like the Crayolas. Same here. I just feel like I get more risky and creative with the Crayolas.
Generally, the signatures are more saturated, but considering the breakage and the cost, I’ll stick with my regular Crayolas.
The color escapes are my FAVORITE to color with. I bought one and my husband bought another. So I have two. I also love the signature tri color. Crayola has another line of colored pencils. It’s not the same name. I can’t think of it right now. They are all manufactured in Brazil I think so it could be entirely possible they are using the same factories.
great channel! Steve's comments are very informative, My wife is a part time colorer and was captured with your expertise.
Thanks for the feedback! I always tell Steve how valuable his input is! 😊

Nothing to do with pencils, but that ring on your right hand is absolutely stunning!!

I have the Dahl 133 from Amazon and LOVE it too!
@@Jenny-W1910 the Mitsubishi uni 20 from Japan is the best. Silicone grips, so no bite marks.

Well done! I totally agree with you. Kind of some dirty tricks out there for us colorists! They must think were are unaware 🤔🤭😁
Crayola Signature Blend and Shade are way better than ordinary Crayola pencils. Nice and soft. Prone to breaking a bit though.
Thanks for comparing and sharing your opinion, I have the regular crayolas and the prisma colors as well. Love the prisma colors. Great advice! Thanks again!
Love the Crayola Brand 😊
I mixed my Crayola Signatures with my Arteza. They work nicely together. I think I have a 48 set of the signatures. I do feel they are kind of difficult to sharpen, no matter what sharpener I use.

I have a Helix helical bladed sharpener and that doesn't leave any bite marks and it sharpens every brand including all the very expensive ones.
The term GEL seems to be attribute the pencils can be used on black paper, bc theirs colors are vibrants do more waxy probably!
Thanks for this. I recently bought the Crayola 120 pack just to have a lot of colors, and I’m not an artist and colorist like you. And what about the color escapes? are they better than the standard? Where do tehy belong? between the standard and the blending pencils?
I have the Crayola 120 set and I absolutely love it.
The Carl Angel Royal doesn't bite the pencil, I use that one and the Dahle 133 that has been mentioned already. Those 2 are my go to.
This was very helpful and informative. Thank you for doing this video.

We make a wide variety of swatch books here at Coloring Bliss. Come check them out!!
Hi Jen, I have the 24 and 50 set of the crayons signature pencils they are okay I think
I love the 150 set and I love castle art pencils too I got a huge electric pencil shaper

They are probably “water soluble”, because they are designed not to be permanent on clothes and skin.

So glad you did this video, Thank you!
My mahogany broke as well. None of my others did but that one!
Thank you so much for another wonderful, colorful, blissful video!
I have expensive color pencils and also the Crayola pencils and I use the crayolas when we travel or go camping and I love them just as much 💕

... and the little fur babies stole the show. 😃
Have you tried the signature pencils on black paper? There is a big difference.
I am amazed at the colour payoff from the standard pencils my 100 set is a total bust.
I got that “ colors of kindness set” recently and I thought they weren’t good at all…
I don’t own any professional pencils but even if I compare them to my soucolor ones, the soucolors are much better..
I ve been a few people saying pretty good things about the 120 set, I wonder if those r better than the colors of kindness set I have..

Maybe I will get the 120 set cause I love some of the colors and hope it’s better…
I use a Staedtler sharpener, no bite marks at all
LOL!!! Rose must be running happily through the fields, in her dreams!!! LOL!!!
FYI My hubby just bought me a 150 color set of crayola at Walmart for $22 and change.
30:48 Oh, you said "crumby."
I understood it as _"crummy"_ for a second! X^D
The price point that would make me happy with the Crayola Signature would be 1.5 x, especially in this economy.
Try the 120 crayola pencils on Stonehenge paper!!
Try the m+r , it haves rubber claws, no mark to your pencil, are german and ver good sharpener
I have the M+R also and agree. Great sharpener
Lovely review thank you
Thanks! Very helpful!
Thanks for this video.
The 50 set of crayola signature coast more than 120 reg crayola set
+1 for the Dahle 133 helix sharpener. No teeth marks to mar your pencils.
The color Escapes suck! I returned them. I love their tins of the Signature soft core blend and shade. I have the 50 set and I love them! They are more pigmented than any other Crayola colored pencils.
I only paid 13 for my 100 set Crayola color pencils
OH, CUTE,is that your chinchilla? Or is Rose having a play date? KAREN From Canada
SouColor 180ct colored pencil. No dups
Now they have 150
yes ive seen a bigger set
You can tell that the colors are a bit richer but i dont think gthey are 3x better
Nice video.
Oh my god well done
I
this should be good
Yikes! I've had breakage with mine some as mine, as well.
Carl is cute tho
