Awesome explanation. Yet, we need to remember that adjusting the 'Hammer Rest Rail' will influence all the hammers.

Hi, your demonstrations are the most helpful to me that I've watched. Please make some more, particularly on grand piano regulation. Thank you ever so much.

What a life saver! Lost motion AND jack reset are in synch. What a headache for not adjusting the hammer rest rail. Doh!

1/32'' =2mm? is it right? 1 inch -25.4mm, 1/32'' should be shorter than 1 mm...

    3/32 is about 1/10 which would be 2,54mm ! For let-off

OVERLY COMPLICATED, Add this, remove that, adjust something that should already be regulated previously.
Once blow distance and lost motion are correctly regulated, it is foolish and tedious to adjust again on 88 keys.
I regulate these 2 dimensions and then adjust dip to get proper aftertouch.
You are correct in demonstrating the gap between the jack and hammer butt in a well regulated upright. Thank you for that. The rest of your video is overly complicated for this highly experienced technician. I can only imagine what the novice will understand!
    Not much. " CAC

Hi! My doubt is: when you adjust the hammer rest rail for one key to regulate the jack, does it interfere to the rest of others individual mechanisms, or to the others keys? Thank you for your well explained video.

This is a beginning exercise. In a piano, once a blow distance is chosen, the rest of the notes must be regulated to work with that blow distance.

In my opinion if the felts and leathers are worn out so differently they should be renewed. Otherwise you start compromising key depth and let off regulation.
