wow! this brings back memories, and, has got me all welled-up! my word! these concerts were always transformative; to this day, this concert is transcendental, as are his various other concerts; and, I have the box-set somewhere, which, I shall locate and give it a whirl. How very telling, it is as though, this is so very relevant to this very day, and, seemingly, resonates a curious wonder, inspite of the way the world has evolved all around us. I suppose, to a lesser or greater extent, we possess the same sensibilities from way back from how we may remember ourselves as we once were; my word! Thank you for uploading this concert, Gabor. Best wishes.
i worship the first part of Paris Concert 1988 and the Bregenz concert 1981 - they've been with me for the last 30 years. Only recently I started paying more attention to the Sun Bear Part 1. It has become one of my favorites and right now I am only listening to this masterpiece. It is unbelievably beautiful from beginning to end, with some absolutely mind blowing passages. I cannot believe Keith Jarrett is improvising this music. It is not only about his unique talent, it is the absolute control of the music, including the most incredible melodic lines, structure, chord progressions, voicings, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc. Like I said in another recording: it is superhuman, and transcendental.
I agree with you. The first part of the Paris concert has deeply affected me as well. This one, Osaka part #1 is my favorite of all time. It is a religious experience.
@@hirgons i have had this conversation with someone before. Keith Jarrett himself states that it is basically ideas flowing. But one cannot take that literally and I believe KJ himself would agree. The ideas come from his imagination and the inner ear. One can argue that even a good part of the imagination is somewhat stored in the memory, part of a vast library that is perused during the ultra rapid process of creation. In other words, both control and pure flow work simultaneously.
Hey guys. Take a listen/look at Rick Beato’s visit and interview with Keith. It’s actually encouraging, considering his condition. We his loyal fans and supporters are especially blessed that so many of his performances were recorded back at the time he was at the pinnacle of his abilities. I don’t think Beato asked him this but I’d be curious to know this. How much more of his solo and early trio concerts were recorded than have yet been released are already in the can awaiting possible release? It seems likely that there must be at least Some…
26:23 - 28:05: his soul is travelling with "thought-speed" through some galaxies seeing from distance all the colors of every existing planet out there, from the most vibrant, brilliant, to the most dark one
"Let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation" is such a meaningless translation... Most readers will have to interpret that phrase according to their whims, which is fine for instrumental music, but very confusing when it's "words to live by".
interesting you say that because i believe if you listen to Munich 2016 part 3 at about 1:50 or so I hear the chords of “blackbird” and i feel he’s been listening to the beatles
In particular, the tours in Osaka and Kyoto among Sunbear's tours stand out for their beauty and energy!
Amen
Keith Jarrett, thanks for being part of humanity.
29:35 - 30:20 - magical
Quite simply, this is one of the greatest moments in music history. Jarrett is a genius among geniuses.
30 years ago I was hypnotized and so on. Beautiful

Yes, and I personally think that it's the opposite of controle, it's pure flow !

Have you yet to hear his absolute work, Modena, from A Multitude Of Angels? Part 2 is strictly not to be believed. He channels ALL in it.
Of all Keith Jarrett's improvisations, this is my favorite. Thank you for posting
On pourrait l écouter pendant des heures !
From 14:45 to 19:45, one of most beautiful and breathtaking rhythmic patterns i have ever heard.
Totally agree. Inventive and beautiful !!
I agree too. And going on... it's even better. No words for this performance, no words this genius.
Brings a tear to my eye when ever I hear it.
I wish I could write him a letter. "Keith I love you".
What slowly rises at 20:31 is impressive. Pure, uncontrolled beauty.
The perfect balance of jazz, classical and improvisation.Nobody comes close in mastering all three like Keith.Hope he is at peace with his fate.
Me too. Thank you for sharing your thoughts about that. I always think of him and I pray for his wellbeing.

ECM still has plenty of unreleased Jarrett concerts because Manfred Eicher recorded as many as possible.@@alanwerner8563

30 years.on......it's still absolutely essential..... deconstructed simplicity and all the more beautiful
The Maker truly speaking through Keith’s soul.
I agree. At all.
His music leaves me in ahh...always grateful. Marvelous, always and forever!
Heartbreakingly beautiful and original. Unsurpassed...
There you said it.
Simply on another level
Shalom ❤
This is like going to church ❤❤❤
He is not from this planet. He came here with a mission
Except way better.
"Come, Let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyfull noise to the rock of our salvation." (Psalm 95 )
Keith was raised in the "Christian Science" Faith. He's a gift from God!
@@barrypeirson3710 i do not believe in god, but I do believe in Keith Jarrett.
