- Chasing my buddy Mike on his BMW S1000RR around the Nürburgring Nordschleife on my 2017 KTM 1290 Superduke R. It was a very busy day at the Nordschleife so we had to look back often for other cars but we still had a fun lap.
Sorry for the very poor sound quality though..
Met a guy in the twisties this weekend with one of these. Had 120,000 miles on it and said it was surprisingly reliable for him (which absolutely blew my mind). Dude could absolute rip, bike sounded great. Love V Twins.
i can say that ktm can give up to 10 years (4 years ist standard but expandable) warranty for a reason, if you keep it into service times

7:53 close one ! Cars dont know how a bike takes different lines on the Ring. Thats why i am scared of the Nordschleife.
For such things you have to be punished by the administration of the ring... Thats issn't only stupid... Thats highly dangerous and culd be end in a deadly case...

@@sergechelton4818 on a track, yes. But Nordschleife Touristenfahrten is no track driving its StVO rules. Thats why its so shitty and dangerous. Every noob driving there like he wants to, not enough marshalls and completely different vehicles and drivers.
Wonderful riding skills. I have a Gen 2 Super Duke R, and watching this video makes me realise how slow I am.
The gen3’s have upgraded suspension over the gen1-2, I wouldn’t try that on my gen1…

This is also a gen 2 looking at the dash. He just has it turned well to his body weight & suspention on point. Can tell in the corners mine is also like that but i've heard of other SDR having soft as suspention.
I have a gen 2 sdr and realize how slow they both are, lol. Horses for courses and all that. nearly every bend on that cicuit can easily be done at way over 100mph. they were down to 60 and 70 mph on the fast ones

Changing to thicker / heavier oil helps alot and theres a secondary handle bar mounting point that vastly helps with high speed stability.

@@marcelstrydom3200 Seeing the quite poor lines of the bikers is proof for them not beeing very familiar to the Nordschleife. I am very sure that the overtaking cars stayed longer behind the bikes as usal due to their sometimes uncommon wide lines. Because of riding sport bikes on tracks and having a few laps on the nos myself, I think the cars are the ones to blame the bikes here, even when normally the fast cars on the nos behave very carefully around bikes.
But sure 'normy' bikers without experience on tracks and especially the nos probably will judge the E36 driver.
To Eddo and his buddy: guys please try to go for a cleaner line first before trying to speed. Mike had some troubles after the Pflanzgarten jump and even went off track while he had plenty of space.
Even more important: check your mirrors way more often for faster cars so that you avoid forcing them into closer overtakes.

7:38 Is a nice example of target fixation, instead of looking trough the corner he kept watching to the grass. Hope he kept it up on the shiny side
Well the biggest problem I ecountered there was being a bit to late on brakes getting myself of the bike and both wheels of the ground right before the corner.. Landed my bud almost on the tank and was difficult to steer/leen it in like that. I got a bit on the grass but could rejoin the track quite fast after that. 😅
@@BikerMikeRR Yeah i noticed the little jump upset your corner preparation, but i think if you just let the brake loose or eased off and commited to a full kneedown or applied enough lean you would have made the corner pretty easy from what ive seen in the rest of the video. I had a similar situation in the past and just instead off going full brake and try to stop it on time just commit to a full lean angle and just sail trough the corner
@@andriesrombout Who knows but I was not in the position to lean in the corner. I trained myself trying to avoid target fixation but I thought in my split second decission that it was safer/better to hit the gras a little instead off force the bike on a lean hardly.

LOL my KTM proved to be far more reliable than any of my Hondas, with far better brakes and suspension as well...

The KTM is impressive but dont you think you have to take your hat off to how fast cars are these days I do the bike wouldn’t live with a well sorted car around here with a good driver of course

You did very good lap...not easy with nude bike ...but 1290 super duke it's great bike...you have to do many other laps ...your bike need it.

Was een leuke video om naar te kijken.
Ja remde wat te laat en kwam met 2 wielen wat los voor de bocht dus moest de rem even laten vieren waardoor net naast de baan. Gelukkig reden we wel met wat marge voor foutjes zoals deze. 😅
well done good lap. but that bm was a bit too close for comfort go get him and have a word in his shell.
From the BM's perspective, he was indicating that he wanted to pass, you moved to the right, then drifted back left over the centre line just as he was passing. I dare say he wasn't too impressed.

I agree with you! There is a steering damper on the bike (OEM) but it really doesn't do much.. An adjustable steering damper would be a great update to the bike

Mettre simultanément voitures et motos sur un circuit est de la pure folie et pour les motards de l’inconscience totale tant les voitures leur tournent autour. Faut vraiment être candidat au suicide surtout quand on ne maîtrise ni les freinages ni les trajectoires.

hmmmm, ich hab mir vor vielen Jahren mal den Spaß gemacht eine Runde über die Nordschleife zu drehen mit nem damals aktuellen Ford Granada 2.3l mit sagenhaften 108 PS,
Ich kam mir dabei natürlich wie ein Verkehrshindernis vor, hatte ICH scheinbar ja auch ganz andere Intentionen als die meisten anderen die da rumeiern.
ICH wollte einfach nur mal gemütlich da drüber fahren, aber keine Rennen gewinnen, aber okay, wems Spaß macht, DAFÜR sind Rennstrecken ja schließlich da und besser da als im öffentlichen Straßenverkehr. Ich will das hier also ganz sicher niemandem madig machen, auch wenn ich den Sinn dahinter irgendwie nicht verstehe, aber ich muß das ja auch nicht verstehen.
Heute im Alter Ü60, noch immer Motorrad fahrend würde ich da wohl nicht mehr herfahren, nicht mit Auto und auch nicht mit Motorrad, ich hab das einmal gemacht ums mir anzuschauen, MIR reicht das fürs Leben. Also keine Angst, ich werde da sicher nie wieder als Verkehrshindernis auftauchen. Ich hatte aber den Eindruck, daß der Holländer der sich da streckenweise mit dem KTM Fahrer eine Art Rennen geliefert hat mit seinen Fahrer Skills ziemlich überfordert war. Chapeau an den KTM Fahrer, daß er ihn nicht auf Biegen und Brechen herausgefordert hat und sich lieber zurück genommen hat bevor der andere seine Fähigkeiten überreizt und ihm was dabei passiert.

Ja, das ist mir auch aufgefallen. Man mus auf der Nordschleife zuerst versuchen einen runden Fahrstil zu finden. Schnelligkeit kommt dann von alleine. Alles andere ist sonst brandgefährlich mit all den Autos.

@@klausbeck3042 Wahrscheinlich wird bei dieser KTM das Vorderrad gerne leicht.
Meine CB1300 ist da auf der Nordschleife wesentlich ruhiger.

From much motorcycling experience at the Ring, that is no where near fast lapping. For the video, you’re lucky a Nurburgring circuit club member on an old BMW R80 with side panniers didn’t overtake you. Great experience all the same.
I think we did well for a 2nd time but offc any local rider with good track knowledge and some skill will smoke us. 😅
