From Michael’s perspective I feel like it’s not even accurate. According to him, his mom didn’t kill anyone, she was an angel, she wasn’t a monster, she didn’t struggle and was like such victim. Bro there’s a reason why everyone knows his mom killed these men especially his father. Because she fucking did kill them. He denies the bad version of her and her actions because that’s his mommy. You know how many moms tell their kids lies to make them seem less horrible? A lot. His mother was I’m sure a lovely giving person at heart for her kids and people she related to but she killed those men ! She’s a monster at the end of the day. Once a killer always a killer. All respect for Michael and his family but his side of things are too unrealistic. Let me also add that Griselda isn’t based on Scarface. It’s based on Al Capone ! The real gangster. Michael has mentioned that the movie was based off of his mother but the timeline doesn’t add up. Griselda was after Scarface even came out. This man glorifies his mother so much that it makes me wonder how he even talks to his own kids about it. His kids are going to continue glorifying the monster that ruined many families and took so many lives !
I don’t be believing 90 percent of what comes out his mouth , he was young and probably did see couple things here and there but he def stretches the truth way to much ….
As a mom she may never tell the truth to her son because we protect the love of our kids we want them to see us as hero not a villain! As much as he thinks he knows the truth he was very little , ! One person has a lot of way to behave depending on who she dealing with!
Yeah, but if you have parents or any other family member who are involved with the drug cartels or any other criminal organizations, then it's best not to talk about it to others.
I can’t believe how this guy talks proudly about his mother, her murders and all the crimes she committed. I would be hidden for my entire life if my mother had done 1% of what his mother did of shame and guilty.
It’s the 1970’s there was cocaine wars everywhere. His family got the justice from other people by killing his brothers. He should be able to love them no matter what, all of the crime and bad doings is in the past and over with.
@@SfKitty I understand what you mean, however this interview happened just now, and he still thinks his mother is a “hero” or a “genius”. Griselda was just a psychopath that found on the drug dealing a way to practice the monstrosity she had inside. She did not love her kids, otherwise she would have never exposed her kids to those situations. Seems like the family brainwashed him to believe she was a big shot, when she was mentally ill.
@@SfKitty The cocaine wars aren't really a total excuse for the stuff she did, Griselda would take shit way further than it needed to go, that's why she was known as being so ruthless, she didn't give a shit about innocent people dying in the crossfire. She actually ordered hits on the children of her enemies; Rivi was interviewed in jail for the documentary "Cocaine Cowboys" and talked about that.
The reason they didn't do a 100% accurate story is due to creative artistic license defense in case they get sued, which they did by her son. The suit will get tossed out of court and he gets nothing.
Glorify his mom? Netflix made a Multi million dollar tv show about her. Who’s really glorifying her? He’s just saying from his perspective as actually being her son the shit wasn’t accurate. He has a right to tell his own life story since Netflix wants to tell it..Lol
Listen Griselda was no Saint. She played a dirty game n got the consequences. However, I agree with Michael. If you’re gonna make a story about an actual person you want to at least make it right. I personally didn’t feel the power that would even make Escobar to say “The only man I was ever afraid of was Griselda Blanco” it didn’t pack a punch.
Like the story is so HUGE. There’s no way Netflix did research on her. My grandma was in Miami around this time and she knew who the Godmother was. I asked her what she thought of the series and she said the series did no justice to what it was actually like at that time.
That always seems to be the case huh. I’m reading “Killers Of The Flower Moon” and it’s become my favorite book. I can tell he was inspired by “The Devil In The White City” which I also loved. Scared to my wits about watching the movie or even the trailer. I can’t imagine it can possible match how good the book is
Regardless of what his mother did..it was his mother and she probably sheltered him more than the rest and even if she didnt there is no love like a mothers love..its the only life he knew at the time and he isnt necessarily glorrifying his mother ITS HIS MOTHER HES PROUD OF HIS MOTHER DOESNT MATTER THAT YALL DONT UNDERSTAND IT..Its not your life..SHE WAS THE FIRST OF HER KIND TO DO IT..GOTTA RESPECT IT

Im sure they had their reasons (or maybe they just made bad decisions) but I feel Netflix missed a massive obvious opportunity to create a multi season masterpiece form this woman's life story.
My thoughts on the series right after I watched it, I told my husband that the acting was good. However, it felt like a lot of pieces were missing. I never watched Cocaine Cowboys but I just knew that Griselda having a hard time selling ONE kilo in Miami was hard to believe.
that arc about the struggle of her selling that kilo was important to build up for what was going to happen in the story, it propelled the flow of the episodes in a fictional way.
Damn, this story is fascinating. I won't watch the Griselda movie on Netflix since they never tell an accurate story without embellishments. Documentaries are the best telling of this and this interview with her son. That woman was wild.
A very intriguing interview. I've been fascinated with Griselda Blanco story since the early 90's.I immediately subscribed I can't get enough of this fascinating woman.

Do you honestly believe that Griselda is going to be totally honest with her son about the heinous shit that she did? If you actually want to listen to someone that is believable listen to Rivi, he was actually around Griselda. There's an interview in the documentary "Cocaine Cowboys" with Rivi, and he talks about how Griselda was actually happy when RIvi accidentally killed Chucho's son, she also ordered other hits on the children of her enemies. Do you honestly think she is going to tell her son she ordered hits on kids?
He would add some credibility to his version of the story if he didn't gloss over her evil deeds and not mention the murders she committed. He seems in total to be proud of her drug lord life. If you only listen to his words, you would think shw was a hero.
💯💯💯💯well said! I dont think people expect him to hate his mother . He just sounds like he painting a different picture. This woman is accused of killing at least 40 people in the US alone.

Glad i caught this ! Been intrigued by this woman since '08 after having watched the 1st Cocaine Cowboys. As a Belgian kid i was really intimidated every time there were news reports on either the NY mafia or the hell in Miami. Had an uncle who was there in '84 and never got out of his hotel room for 10 days bc of the gunshots during daylight. And at night it was way worse he said later on.
He was born in 78, his mum was arrested in 85. He was only 7 years old how the hell does he have detailed knowledge of his mother's life? His brothers were all killed when she was in prison. You honestly think she will be disclosing all her wrong doings to him?
That was my problem. The Griselda series could have been a few seasons long. Instead they crammed her whole existence into like 3 years. It confused the hell outta me because things were taking place on top of each other. They didn’t show her NY run or anything.
He loves his mom. Even though she killed hundreds of people, that doesn’t bother him. He’s still proud of her and sees her as his sweet mommy and a great entrepreneur
He can still make his version that the people will love because of his close connection. Just make it happen the people will watch like we've never heard her story before. There's room for more

Pablo died in the city of Medellin because he realized how easy the search bloc was locating him In the outskirts as they were tapping his phone. He realized he would be much harder to find if he was moving around the city of Medellin where he could drive around in a cab with a hitman in the back and he wouldn't be easily spotted.
I found it hard to believe she had such a difficult time selling 1 kilo of cocaine. That was way of for me. I would love to see her story told as it really was. It's sad that the Netflix series is so off. I haven't finished watching it. But I do plan to. It's really something how much she loved her boys. I often wonder why people like her in an illegal business would want their children to be in it. All that money and her children could have gone into so many other businesses that were legal. I just can't wrap my mind around it.
While I did love corbens documentaries, and I have compassion for Michael Corleone as I have affable criminals in my family that I’m fond of, it is wild that he seems offended that they would suggest she ever had any problem selling a single kilo. It’s Almost as if he’s quick to point out “you know those drug dealers who are just trying to put food on the table for their families? That’s not my mom, she was the jefe.”
I think he’s looking at it in the wrong way. & 2 things can be true at once. I didn’t look at it as she’s broke and couldn’t sell 1 kilo, bc in all reality we know she was the big fish. I think it was more so to depict her coming into new turf, which was true bc she was new to Miami, & her trying to find connects down there to sell her product. So to him he’s seeing it as my mother wasn’t this broke lady who couldn’t sell a key, but on the grand scale of things, she may have struggled to sell that key bc she obviously had to find her way around new grounds.
It buffles me how this Michael guy is so proud of his ruthless, extremely violent, serial killer, delinquent he had for a mother! He's just like his monster mother, he has zero regrets or empathy but the massive amounts of innocent people she killed with fire arms and with drugs! Scary!
I’m so glad to see her family get to tell her story. Her life has always sparked curiosity in me. I always wanna know the truth. As scary as she had to be… no one can doubt her strength and her power. I wanted to know what she’d been through.
I think Michael Blanco should have been a part of the making if any thing related to his family.... he knows sooooò much I want to hearths TRUE STORY ..... I want to see how ruthless she was but also how loving she was and everything inbetween
I really appreciate Micheal telling the REAL story ! I remember growing up in the 80s in LA Compton to be exact and my uncles coming over to tell my dad who they had met! Of course I had NO idea who she was when they would say.. mi nina until I was old enough to understand what they did for a living!
Everyone on here talking about she was probably a good mother, how tf can you be a good mother while being a kingpin. Being a good mother and a kingpin don’t go together 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Amazing how the love from a son to his mother can rise above all. Griselda did countless horrible acts to people around her, yet her son sees her as his loving mother, which is accurate in his isolated world that his mother had him living in. I can’t blame him for loving his mother, at the same time can’t blame her victims for hating her.
It’s weird how some people want him to HATE his mom for her choices . It’s still his MOM no matter how much of a “monster” she was. He is going off how his experience with her was.
I'm glad Michael is doing this and doing it this soon after the Griselda series coming out on Netflix. Didn't waste no time for the energy to die down. 🎯💯💪🏿

Btw...I was paud very little money bc I had just started to work as a translator, and that was my first legal contract 😮 #iminshock
An important factor to remember here is that he’s talking about his mother from the age perspective of when he lost her, so as an adultescent. Before the age of being able to truly see the parent for who they are, before you question them. On top of that she was loving towards him, so he doesn’t have it in him to believe she was a monster. Bet he doesn’t even believe she had anything to do with his dads murder. It’ll shatter his whole existence because his entire immediate family were each murdered. This man carries so much trauma which he won’t get therapy for, it’ll uncover and dismantle his whole world. Well, this is the psychological pov 😂. Sorry for the essay
Billy you got me interested in this story back in 03. Been obsessed ever since. I especially recommend reading the books "American desperado" by jon roberts and "the man who made it snow" by max mermalstein. Both great additions to the stories you told with many of the same characters.
When you've actually seen the original Cocaine Cowboys documentaries, you knew even in the first episode that Sophia is a good actor, but didn't really hit the nail on the head in diving into Griselda... Listen to Griselda's son (of course he doesn't look at her as a bad person), he knows his mom, they were very close, and note that the son is right there with the co-creator of the Cocaine Cowboys franchise.. validity to the story HE told... He came the closest...
This show is to show the struggle of the beginning of an empire. I think Griselda did it well. On this show it is a young child describing stories told to him. Still amazing the new York part wasn't included at all.

Yep it’s called bias lol.
The reason they didn't do a 100% accurate story is due to creative artistic license defense in case they get sued, which they did by her son. The suit will get tossed out of court and he gets nothing.

Well it was also a completely fabricated quote, but I agree that there was no heaviness to the Griselda character

A very intriguing interview. I've been fascinated with Griselda Blanco story since the early 90's.I immediately subscribed I can't get enough of this fascinating woman.
I know Michael was a young boy when all this happened and people don’t believe his story, but I think you all are forgetting that Griselda died in 2012. Michael spoke to his mother on a regular basis. This story isn’t just based on his memories, but also on her words.
Sadly my heart broke for her children as a mom.
I'm in my late 40's and I can listen to the Dramatics all day. They were my dad's favorite group. RIP TJ Allen Jr
We need another longer episode with this man.
I'm just wondering why Netflix didn't connect with Michael for the story??
Because he’s obviously delusional about his mom and rightfully so that’s his mom.
He said producers juiced him for info for years and led to believe there was gonna be some type of joint collab then they disappeared
It buffles me how this Michael guy is so proud of his ruthless, extremely violent, serial killer, delinquent he had for a mother! He's just like his monster mother, he has zero regrets or empathy but the massive amounts of innocent people she killed with fire arms and with drugs! Scary!
