- A replay of my first, free, open-to-all composition masterclass!
The online class took place January 7, 2021. Registration opened on Dec. 17, 2020 and completely filled up by the end of the day. I'll announce future masterclasses on social media, so follow me to find out when the next one will take place.
Despite some technical challenges, we had a lively discussion over Zoom where we went over 6 pieces by these fine composers:

00:37:23 Samba Zhou (China) - ruclips.net/channel/UCgIi8dl3kPVFdDTJpCeHVqQ
01:09:00 Aliyah Ramatally (Trinidad and Tobago) - aliyahramatally

So very grateful for being a part of this great experience with you all. Bravo to all the artists who shared their work with us that day and thank you Chris Tin for sharing a bit of your creative process and giving us such great advice. Very cool & instructive masterclass. I hope there'll be more of these !!
I started watching this - Christopher talked about the struggles of keeping the audience's attention - I felt bad about closing the tab, and now I'm half-way through the video.
I'm not a composer. I don't even play any instrument. What am I doing here?
thank god people like you are here to find the strong melodies that engage us all :)
So amazing to be apart of this wonderful masterclass! Hope to be involved in another soon!
First few minutes = golden advice (and well-worded too!). The rest of the stream was full of wisdom nuggets as well. Hope you'll do one again sometime :)
OMG! Everyone stay calm, it's finally happening!
I love this composer's work. It's also lovely to see my country represented. I see you Aliyah Ramatally.
found you by accident, loving this masterclass. right what I was looking for, thx 🙏🙏🙏
I only heard about you a few days ago when I was reaching for an essay about video game music. It's funny that this suddenly popped up in my youtube recommended. I also just recently started composing so this is some great advice
My 12 year old son has been watching this today in prep for tonight's Crowdfunding talk with the Stay at Home Choir! Thank you for sharing all these fantastic resources to help budding musicians! Niamh in Dublin, Ireland
Interesting to think about initial unpredictability and how it might relate to songs that grab our heart that we want to hear over and over again after we already have memorised them.
Love this so much!!! Thanks for posting it!!
I have already seen multiple versions of Baba Yetu and Sogno Di Volare on Christopher's RUclips channel, so luckily this came up in my Recommended a few months ago. I myself am a student composer who has had to compose a few pieces for my IGCSE music qualification and even though the pieces shown and improved in this Masterclass are not at all my kind of piece that I'd compose, I found the advice given by Christopher extremely thought-provoking and insightful. And ... it turns out that after I improved my pieces based on the general advice given by Christopher - I scored full marks for my Composition Coursework!!! The things I learned in the two-and-a-quarter hours of this Masterclass carry deep meaning and I learned things that I will carry on using for the rest of my composing career. So, now I am back to say Kudos to you Christopher - thanks to you my current compositions and many potential future compositions will forever be better.
So glad it was helpful!
Mr. Tin, you forgot your subreddit in your socials
I have always been very interested in composition myself, so glad this is here.
Very valuable, thank you!
Thanks for this!
im currently making a short film in kerbal space program, and i wanted to score it myself. this will definitely be a huge help.
An amazing opportunity to learn from the best🤩 Thank you sir!
I am an architect. I want to share this video with my students.

Hey thanks man! Yeah, not a lot of people know that I did that.
