    Fr Chris, in his own inimitable style, explains the Scriptures in a more interesting and understandable way! And I think it’s a blessing granted him by the Holy Spirit, which he does perfectly, more understandable, more interesting, and more powerful!
    The Holy Mass is the only form of sacrifice and worship to our Almighty God and Father🙏
    Father explained this in his previous talks, which I never tire of listening ♥️
    We are so blessed for being Catholics !!! 🙏
    Thanks to our parents who reared us in the Roman Catholic faith🙏
    And Mary as our Mother when Jesus from the Cross, told St John
    “Behold your mother!”
    And from that time on, St John took care of Mary!!!

    on the question about the rapture: I believe that its safe to say yes, Jesus' 2nd coming will be preceded by a really really bad time and yes He would put us through that and it would be a great act of mercy. I believe that this tribulation, as horrific as it will be will still be better than any time in purgatory and, since purgatory will be emptied after Jesus' 2nd coming, it only follows that those faithful that live through the end times will be purified by it.

    I don’t think protestants believe that Jesus was giving his mother to John to cook and clean for him. I think they believe that Jesus was giving Mary to John to take the place of Jesus, on earth; to take care of her for the rest of her life because he would not be there for her.

    I’m a bit confused; could someone help clear this up for me please? If Mary was a perpetual virgin, and a Catholic marriage requires consummation to make the marriage valid, was Mary married to Joseph in a legal, technical sense? I’m not sure how to answer that question and would like a theological answer please.

    • @Spiritof76Catholic
      @Spiritof76Catholic 11 месяцев назад

      I don’t believe it’s official Church teaching so talk to your priest, bishop or Fr. Alar because I only heard it once in my life and never again. Luke 1:35 is nuptial language. Mary is the spouse of the Holy Spirit. It also explains why a holy man like Joseph would never be in an adulterous relationship with Mary and why Mary is a perpetual virgin who never had children with Joseph. Again, this is not Church teaching as far as I know so check it out.

    • @greyhoundmama2062
      @greyhoundmama2062 11 месяцев назад

      A marriage to a consecrated virgin does not require consummation, because the marriage is not for the purpose of generating godly children, but it is for the purpose of protecting the virgin. This is information from the protoevangelical book of James, a historical book of the early Church.

    Forgive me for contradicting you Fr Chris but you were not in Belfast Northern Ireland. In fact your loyal online parishioners from Northern Ireland are quite peeved that you did quite a few counties in the South. We have many beautiful cathedrals in the North. You did visit Derry, Northern Ireland but that's because it neighbours letterkenny in the south. So all of us northerners feel very left out and disappointed as you've been to Ireland twice now but only to the south. 😪

    You were talking about some people's ridiculing and hatred of Mary. I remember a stage show that rock singer Patti Smith did in the late '70s when I was in college. She had a whole stage show ridiculing the virginity of Mary. I think a lot of women are resentful of the Church's emphasis on the virginity of Mary because women feel that the Church is saying that women who are not virgins are "used goods." These women feel the Church is glorifying virginity on a par equal with Islam, emphasizing men's pleasure, and a woman as a sexual object. Another reason that women resent the emphasis on Mary's virginity is that these women feel that the Church is saying that women who have sex or enjoy sex are no good. Women feel they are being told by the Church that they are bad if they are sexual. It sounds to these women that the Church is saying that women's only function is childbirth, and that other things about sexuality don't matter.
    To combat these false beliefs about the Church's emphasis on Mary's virginity, the Church needs to tell women the real reason the Church emphasizes the virginity of Mary. And that reason is inclusiveness. And this goes back to the very first prophecy of the Bible, Genesis 3:15 "I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.” Here God is talking to the Devil, so "you" = the Devil. "The woman" is Mary. "Your offspring" are the Devil's offspring, from his mating with Eve, the Kenites, descendants of Cain. "Her offspring" is Jesus. The Devil's offspring is an literal, physical bloodline. Mary's offspring is Jesus, and after him, she had no other children. This is why the virginity of Mary is important. If she had had other children, then Genesis 3:15 would mean that only people who were blood descendants of Mary would be eligible for salvation. And that would limit the number of people who could be saved. Instead, God wants salvation to be available to everybody. So it can't be a matter of blood, then. Instead, salvation is ADOPTION, a spiritual process called being "born again." We are not blood relatives of Mary, but we can be adopted into her "seed" and that applies to anybody, of any race, or nationality, or ethnicity. God wants us all.
    Another reason women resent practically all churches and Mary is that men in these churches extol Mary's obedience, and women feel that men are saying that women should be obedient to men. And these men ARE saying precisely that. These men like to tout ad nauseum what they feel was Mary's unquestioning obedience when Gabriel approached her. But Mary wasn't unquestioningly obedient. Her reactions were those of an intelligent human being. At first she was afraid when Gabriel first appeared, a perfectly normal reaction, that's why Gabriel said to her "Fear not." Then, she didn't accept right away, but asked intelligent questions any reasonable person would ask according to reality as she knew it, asking how could it be possible that she would have a child without having "known" a man. So Mary considered Gabriel's request, and accepted. She could have refused. But the way men in churches portray her as an obedient, nonthinking person, would have to make Christianity a cult instead of a religion. Cults demand unquestioning obedience. But the religion of Christianity does not. We all have free will. It's rather aggravating to women that men in churches accept Thomas' doubting that Jesus' Crucifixion was real and needing evidence of same, but the same men feel that Mary should be an obedient robot. So Jesus was willing to meet Thomas where he was, and allowed Thomas to even touch the Crucifixion wounds. Mary is not a robot. She's very intelligent, and discriminating and is nobody's fool.

    • @kmjacik8904
      @kmjacik8904 11 месяцев назад

      Not sure where you learned this but it's incorrect. Eve did Not sleep with serpent. We are all descendants of Adam and Eve. If you read the Bible it says Adam knew his wife and she conceived Cain.
      Mary married the Holy Spirit and she was obedient to God, not man. This is why she remained a virgin. God expects people to remain virgins until marriage, not to be sleeping around with everone they date..
      Woman are to work with their husband's on all things and not try to dominate them. The husband is the head of the house and so woman are to consult with their husband's about big decisions regarding the home, children, money, etc... Now if for some reason the man is unable to fulfill his role the wife can take that role until the husband can take that role back but he is the head, like Christ is the head. But unfortunately these days woman seem to want to just spend their husband's money like it's coming out of no where, control their husbands, not communicate with them, etc... And yes some men do think that their wives should obey them but they don't understand what obey actually means, they take it way out of the True meaning. Both the men and the women these days both don't know their true role in the family. Both are equal but different and have different roles.
