  • These Irons Left Me Wondering | Caley 01T Irons Review. Where I look at the Performance and Forgiveness of this growingly popular Direct To Consumer brands Players Distance irons option. The Caley 01T Irons are hollow bodied and contain no urethane or tungsten like other more expensive options so it will be interesting to see how they fare.

    A fantastic, in-depth review. We will take all of these points on board when it comes to developing the next iteration of these irons. Really appreciate you taking the time to put the 01T irons through their paces. More options to order different sets, such as 7-PW, will be available soon.

    Good review Jay! Do you have any plans to review any Maltby irons (from golfworks)?
    I was really tempted to get a set of the TS4 until I got such a good deal on my Mizuno fitting (went with 923 hot metal pro).

    Its nice to have a balanced review not just a sycophantic rubber stamping of the manufacturers spiel.

      I always give an honest opinion backed by displayed club head data to ensure no one can question any thoughts of bias.
      I feel having a totally honest and unbiased conclusion of a piece of equipment also measured at different swing speeds is a huge gap in the RUclips world of reviewing.
      Glad you enjoyed the video 👍🏻

    As always a thorough unbiased analytical approach to reviewing golf clubs. 🤓
    All irons can't be the best (for obvious reasons). Look no further than this channel to always get the honest truth.
    With lower price, compromises must be made, and here we see the consequence of the choices made by Cally.
    This review is making it possible for potential buyers to decide if the price/performance ratio ⚖️ is right for them, and if the issues are important. Some may see the feel and looks of the set far outweigh lower launch angles... 😏
    Kudos to Cally for acknowledging the review findings 👍

      It's a massively positive response and also really positive for golfers going forward that golf companies are, still willing to listen and evaluate the design changes needed to better the product.
      Will look forward to the next model to see the changes that Caley have made 👍🏻

    Just found your channel, best club review with data around using slower swing speed and off centre hits.
    Like the look of the caley but comparing these DTC clubs and the takomos, there is only one winner 101t.

    Great video. I’ve read that these irons are made in the same factory that makes the Takomo irons and if you look at the Caley offerings it’s quite literally an identical lineup to what Takomo offers. It’s so similar that I’m a little surprised that Takomo hasn’t filed a law suit much like Taylormade is doing to Costco.

    Great review - The Caley x is very similar in looks to the Takoma 101T that you previously reviewed. It looks to me like the 101T from Takoma is a much better iron for the money. A lot of folks think they are the same iron with a different name stamped on them. Your testing, which is really extensive, says to me this is not true, and the Takoma 101T is a much better product both in engineering and manufacturing. What are your thoughts?

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  5 месяцев назад

      It's in some way horses for courses, although I will say that during my testing of the similar 101Ts I didn't have the same issues as I did with the 01Ts 👍🏻

      @andyneering6848 5 месяцев назад

      Horses for courses? What does that mean? You raved about about the 101t irons in your review - it seems like you're backing off now.

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  5 месяцев назад

      @andyneering6848 no it just means that in all cases of reviews, the information always given is specifically of that of the person testing, change the delivery of the club and the characteristics can or may change. My opinion still stands, I'm just, saying that in normal cases when you are, evaluating equipment that can be demoed it's only prudent to inform the golfer that clubs will work differently in other peoples hands to that of the RUclips reviewer reviewing them. Obviously this is difficult in this case and DTC unfortunately means there is no demo capabilities 👍🏻

    Do you have any friends or clients who might be traveling from the US, preferably from Washington DC or close to it, who could bring you a forged 34 degree 7 iron head to demo and play around with like this? If you like blades I think you will like this. Not currently in production. Was made for a small company founded by a former director of tour operations and of production management for MacGregor. Forged in Taiwan.

      @@AskGolfNut Aha, that was my secret. They are the clubs I play. Chicago Classic. By Evans Design. Bob Evans was the MacGregor exec I mentioned. Had his own company from 1987-95. Forged blades look a good deal like Mizuno MP 33s which were released in 2002, and that I also have. Feel like MP 33s also. My pro shop still has unhit heads. Thought you would have fun hitting it if I could get it to you. Shows when it comes to some of the best classic blades they still hold their own with any new ones. Can send you a photo.

    Surely anyone swinging at 70mph wouldn’t use 6 iron and below, they should gravitate to hybrids, then they stop; even 7 hybrid is an option, and for direct to consumer choice, use Elevens as hybrids

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  5 месяцев назад +1

      That is true, its one of the things I discussed with them a while back about looking a little less at profit margins and a little more into servicing the customer/golfer and yes they offer a great option for people wanting to save some money on DTC but don't want to have to purchase clubs they'll never use 👍🏻
