I really hope that songs from Greece, Armenia, Norway, the Netherlands, Estonia and a few other countries will be properly appreciated for their ethnic values or other values related specifically to their musical culture (I'm not worried about Ukraine, because they always do well). Next year, I don't want countries to be afraid to send original songs rooted in their own traditions. This year we have 14-15 songs sung wholly or partly in non-English (that's more than in previous years) and I would like this number to gradually increase, even if it's not the main aspect for me when judging a song.

Some people just don't understand that its a SONG CONTEST and we all have different tastes in the music we like but ehen we say we don't like an entry some people take it as being disrespectful to the country it represents, its not its simple we like some songs and dislike others

    • @Maria_muziekjes
      @Maria_muziekjes 4 месяца назад +1

It is about ‘how’ we say we dislike a song, some people are very rude, it’s okay to say you dislike a song, but always keep in mind an artist heart and soul are in it, rude comments may hurt.

You've got a point about Australia! Every year we have some uplifting and well-executed message song that gets the crowd and qualifies. But lowkey Iceland falls in same category like Australia to me. I think there is chance that both qualify.

They both have their different advantages. Australia has ethnic sounds and a language we've not heard at ESC before, but Iceland also has a returning artist, so its ultimately a 50/50 in my eyes. I myself would rather have Australia over Iceland .

About the semi 2 winner, I could definitely see Netherlands taking it. Just judging off youtube views, the official video is dwarfing everything else, and even reactions to it by the various ESC channels are MUCH higher than usual. Usually it takes a country with a much larger population than the Netherlands has for that to be reflected in reaction videos or high national interest in their entries (like how Italy's various Sanremo songs always get huge views), so to me it's saying that this has gone genuinely viral and might be reflected in the televotes.

I’m all for the big 5 performing in the semis but I don’t like that they want to mix them in the entries that compete that same night.
That’s only going to be confusing and make it harder to compare the entries that you can actually vote for that night.
Put them at the end please!

They made so many changes this year, I am not only confused but overwhelmed too...and why is anyone getting the chance to vote BEFORE the live performance at the ESC stage? I don't think I will spend my money on this ESC...maybe I might vote for Serbia if I find out when and how I could vote. I am disappointed ROW is allowed to choose the winner for a European competition, and on the other hand I would like to have some sort of Worldvision (but not at Eurovision). Semi 1 is difficult, semi 2 has some cringe songs, not sure if I will watch semi 2 and I usually watch it all. Nice stream Alesia, I like your reactions too.

Well, the advantage is that they are always visible and visibility is an asset not to be forgotten and a curious thing is that they all speak a different language. UK speaks English; Germany German; Spain Spanish; France French; and Italy, Italian. The question is not who wins Eurovision, the question is who is remembered and becomes more visible and recognized.

I have a very strong feeling Sand will qualify. It’s not in my top 20 or anything, but it’s got this sleek Scandinavian easy-listening quality that no other entry this year has. It’s a very smooth and pleasant listen for me even though it’s in my bottom 12 (speaks of how strong this year is). All other rivaling pop songs have some sort of bombast (even Sweden), while this song is a straightforward and earnestly performed pop ballad without being overdone or underworked (unlike Georgia and Albania). A lot of people may think it’s unremarkable and not vote for it, but I assure you it’s going to attract a strong enough niche for it to make it. Sometimes I skip entries I rank above it, but I never skip Sand ironically. This has to mean something.

I dont agree with any of these measures for 3 reasons:
-The finalists performing in the semis will take away the deserving attention and possible televoters from each of the semi-finalists, since the big 5 and Sweden already have the advantage of going to the final and beyond that, it will confuse the viewers at home having 3 other acts, unless there is a previous warning from both of the presenters.
    - The rest of the world voting until the begining of the shows its somehow unfair, because european voters have the vote based of the live and final products, the ROW votes on a unfinished product and not voting at the same time as european countries and Australia.
    - The long voting in the final, altough its not a perfect measure and will not put much pressure on the voting servers, it benefits the most hyped songs and Its a cash grabbing strategy from the EBU

On the boycott part, what I plan on doing, and what I think we all should do, is leave the livestream/change the channel the second Israel's postcard starts, and come back the second the performance is over, setting a timer to tell us when it's over. That way, the viewing numbers reflect when people stop watching, and when they come back. It'll show them that we want to watch Eurovision, we just don't want Israel there. What are your thoughts? You don't have to agree btw lol, just throwing it out there for those who are trying to find a way to watch, but protest at the same time.

Not a fan of the 2 changes for 2 reasons
    1) While letting the Big 5 perform in the semis gives them more exposure, it also gives them the unfair advantage of getting to perform WITHOUT the fear of not qualifying. So their first times performing on camera is like a practice, compared to the other countries which are being graded immediately.
    2) In no way would I I ever advocate voting for something before actually seeing it first.
-BRIVIDI was my absolute favorite song in 2022. But Mahmood and Blanco did not deliver at the final- the staging, the harmonies, the singing were all off. So no, they would not have gotten my vote.
We've seen acts crash in the finals before- props, costume and set malfunctions, choreo fails, camera mistakes, and voices that go off-key or crack. We've also seen acts unexpectedly soar and slay the competition, like Moldova did in in 2022. How the acts perform ON THE DAY OF THE FINALS is what should matter. I understand that the main purpose of pre-voting is the cash grab for the EU. But we'd better hope the acts receiving the most pre-vote love don't have a 'Do it For Your Lover' moment on stage at the Grand Final.

The people and creatives in Israel should not be boycotted and punished for the war. If EBU decided to let them participate I think you all should respect that (I also think the boycott comes from a complete ignorance on the subject but that’s a different story)

  • @knutagon

If this was any other year, Israel would have won.
The song is breathtaking, and will go head to head with France, in the final.
If they get a miracle and somehow manage to Qualify.
The Middle-East conflict is really unfortunate.
I wish Palestine sent a song, so Israel could participate on Equal grounds.
Most of Europe will not vote for this.
Some of Europe may vote in solidarity, like they did in 2022.
But is it enough to qualify?
    I don't know.
I wish Peace, Light & Harmony to everyone.
Best of blessings from Norway 🇧🇻✨💞
