The moment she told them about the ants, she should have been moved. The fact that she wasn't is despicable & inhumane. All those officers standing around watching her being tortured is revolting. None of them should be in law enforcement, none. All this in front of her child.

With fire ant bites, you don't have to be allergic. A couple hundred stings can easily kill a human being. Each sting turns into a pus filled cavity, that goes layers deep in a multiple sting per ant scenario.

hundreds of stings are rarely fatal from fire ants they are mildly venomous similar to bee venom meaning you have to be allergic to the venom for it to be possibly fatal but it’s still painful when stung by this many this is inhumane and it’s like someone locking a person in a room and releasing hundreds of bees in the window and blocking the window off so the person can’t get out🤦🏻♂️

Okay, take a step back and look again at this picture. 8 or 10 cops. Woman being cuffed on the ground. Screaming, kicking. What's wrong with this picture? What's missing from the news report? It doesn't take that many cops to give a person a ticket for going wrong way. And they never pull someone from a car in order to give a ticket--unless something else is going on, and you're not being told. There's more to this than the news station is saying. Always. I learned the hard way never to run with it on first-blush, because it's always more complicated.

What’s scary is I’ve actually pulled into the wrong entrance of a school circular drive once, and was simply told, peacefully, “Sir, your coming thru the wrong way. Please turn around and come thru the correct entrance.” My bad! Thank you. End of story.

Apparently she has mental illness and panicked when asked to stop and took off. Cops had to ram into her vehicle to stop her. Probably was resisting quite a lot afterwards. If so, pinning her down like that was justified. But still should've moved her away from the ants. They definitely saw the ants. At one point, the camera cop brushed some ants off of her sleeve and that was all they did.

It seems more likely that she "disputed" the ticket with the officer instead of in court, which is the proper venue. It doesn't justify this response and she will no doubt still win her lawsuit, but without seeing the entire stop, we can't KNOW that he just yeeted her out of the car unprovoked.

They could have just had her pull over and given a verbal warning. I went the wrong way in my son's school and it was the assistant principal who said, "Oh, we all go that way." I then pulled off to the side, went behind the school building, turned around and course corrected. It's a simple error that's easily fixed

Everyone who has been bitten by fire ants can relate to this one. This case will settle out of court before reaching a trial because no jury is going to tolerate this situation where no effort is made by the officers involved to do anything.
And this is the reason why she cannot accept any handout that they will offer her. If it gets to jury all cops will get jail. If she settles pre trial with them they will still work lile nothong happened. More people need to use justice system as far as they can
They knew full well what they were doing. They need to be suspended without pay until this is resolved and they should pay dearly for the pain they caused. Including that of the 9 year old who had to see everything. The one that held her down in the ant hill needs to lose his pension.

Actually "qualified immunity" is necessary and important HOWEVER, this incident should not qualify as qualified immunity! It is way beyond reasonable force to make an arrest, it is an intentional act to cause harm. Even if the arrestee was resisting or mouthy, she should have been immediately picked up, moved and the ants brushed off. I expect the taxpayers will be hit with paying lots of $ damages. If the PD or town/city does nothing it will be an expensive liability. Super bad public relations!
Dumb idea unless you want to decrease the quality of law enforcement. It would drive the cost of law enforcement up significantly, drive more good officers out of the profession, give more money to insurance companies and make a bunch of lawyers wealthy, all at our expense.
I would like to see the rest of the videos that led up to this situation. Was she calm and they just came up to her, yanked her out of the car and threw her on the ground? That's certainly the impression they're trying to give. Or, did she disobey a traffic officer, yell at them and fight with them? If it's the latter, they may have thought her yelling was just more of her behaving irrationally. If it's the former, then there's more of a problem with the officers' behavior than just her face going into the fire ant mound. Since they didn't show or talk about what else is on the videos, I'd bet on the latter.
They torture people with tazers, are trained to outright murder people, sick dogs on them and abuse animals by feeding them drugs and addicting them...

@@joestrummer4106 Apparently she has mental illness and panicked when asked to stop and took off. Cops had to ram into her vehicle to stop her. Probably was resisting quite a lot afterwards. If so, pinning her down like that was justified. But still should've moved her away from the ants. They definitely saw the ants. At one point, the camera cop brushed some ants off of her sleeve and that was all they did.
These corrupt cops need to be charged, and sent to prison for life. Not a few years, LIFE.

10 years in prison seems about right. There's nothing she could have done that would justify this. There were so many of them, they could have easily moved her. It's a bit confusing to see her thrown to the ground and in handcuffs over a traffic violation. I suppose there must be more to the story.

This was for the terrible crime of driving the wrong way in the school’s drop-off driveway. But, apparently, instead of simply reprimanding her or giving her a ticket, she’s thrown to the ground and handcuffed, and, while 5 or 6 police stand around listening to her scream, forced to endure hundreds of fire-and bites.
SIX people in body armor, trained in combat, with multiple weapons on them, chained a woman in front of her child and tortured her FOR A MINOR TRAFFIC VIOLATION. Thank GOODness no officers were harmed in this incident, right? WTF kind of person would even want this job? Sickens me.

When you are not held accountable and most of society will support you it can lead to very dark things.
I once saw a video of cops holding down a very obviously pregnant woman and holding a tazer to her stomach, continuously tazing her even though she was not resisting arrest- it caused a miscarriage. Another recent incident I can recall is the murder of Jaahnavi Kandula, 23. An officer named Kevin Dave was responding to a medical incident, and was going 75mph in a 25- he hit and killed Kandula on a crosswalk. Daniel Auderer, a Seattle police union leader, was dispatched to the incident and was caught on his body camera laughing and joking about her death, saying her life had “limited value” because she was 23 and the city should “just write a check” for $11,000. Auder was reassigned to "low-profile office duties" but no other action was taken. The examples I have cannot be exhausted, the crimes do not end.
Cops think they have immunity from the law, because they typically do. This system is not broken- it's set up to work exactly as it was meant to, to protect rich people's property and their own interests.
Simply put, the whole phrase is "one bad apple spoils the barrel". And to be honest- the barrel was designed to spoil them all on purpose.
It has not always been this way. Standards have been made to plummet to sewer levels on purpose though.
